Mekanism has a few small utility blocks that don’t belong to any production line. The
Oredictionificator swaps one mod’s version of an item for another, the
Industrial Alarm is a redstone siren, and the
Seismic Vibrator works with the
Seismic Reader to show you which blocks are under your feet.
You don’t need any of them to progress, so they tend to be built once a base is already up and running. The Oredictionificator and the alarm don’t use any energy at all, whereas the vibrator will draw 20 FE/t (50 J/t) while it’s switched on.
How to Make It

To craft the
Oredictionificator you’ll need 4
Steel Ingots, a
Glass Pane and 2
Basic Control Circuits, with a
Dictionary in the middle and a wooden
Chest at the bottom. The
Industrial Alarm is a lot cheaper, as it only takes 6
Lead Ingots, 2 Basic Control Circuits and a
Redstone Lamp.
For the
Seismic Vibrator you’ll need 5
Tin Ingots, a
Lapis Lazuli, 2 Basic Control Circuits and a
Steel Casing. The
Seismic Reader is the handheld half of the pair, made from 7 Steel Ingots, a Lapis Lazuli and an
Energy Tablet.
How It Works
Oredictionificator
When several mods add the same material, you’ll end up with two or three kinds of
Tin Ingot or
Lead Dust that won’t stack together. The
Oredictionificator fixes that by taking any item with a chosen tag and turning it into the one version you’ve picked, one item at a time.

To set it up, add a filter in its screen and type in a tag, like c:ingots/tin. The Next Item and Last Item buttons will then cycle through every item that has that tag, and whichever one is showing is what’ll come out, so you’d stop on the Mekanism one or on your pack’s main version.
It has one input slot and one output slot, and the input will only accept items that match one of its filters. By default the tags it’ll work with are ingots, ores, dusts, nuggets, storage blocks and raw materials, which a pack is able to change in the config.
Industrial Alarm
The
Industrial Alarm can be placed on any face of a block, and it’ll light up and sound a siren for as long as it’s getting a redstone signal. It doesn’t have a screen or any settings, so what makes it useful is what you wire it to.
Any redstone signal will set it off, like a
Lever or a
Redstone Comparator reading a machine. A good use is the Logic Adapter on a Fission Reactor, which gives a signal in its High Temperature mode once the core reaches 1,200 K, so the alarm becomes a warning you’ll hear from across a base.
Seismic Vibrator and Seismic Reader
The
Seismic Vibrator is 2 blocks tall and takes its power through the back, drawing 20 FE/t whenever it’s running. While it’s on, the chunk it stands in counts as vibrated, and that’s the only chunk where the reader is going to work.
Stand in that chunk and right-click with a charged
Seismic Reader, and it’ll open a list of every block in the column under your feet, from where you’re standing down to the bottom of the world. Each entry shows how many of that block are in the column, so you’re able to see an ore or a cave before digging.
The reader holds 4,800 FE and uses 100 FE each time it’s opened, which is 48 readings on a charge. If you use it anywhere else, it’ll just say “Unable to discover any vibrations”, so the vibrator has to be moved to each new chunk you want to check.
Upgrades and Automation
You won’t be able to put upgrades in any of these blocks. The
Oredictionificator does have side settings for its items though, with the output on its right side to begin with, and auto-eject will be off until you’ve turned it on, like it is for the items in every Mekanism machine.
It’s usually placed right before your storage, with a Logistical Transporter bringing mixed ingots and dusts in and the unified ones going out of the other side. Anything that doesn’t match a filter won’t be able to go into it at all, so you’ll need to give those items another way around.
The
Seismic Reader is charged in the energy slot of an Energy Cube, filling at up to 24 FE/t. For finding ores over a wide area, the
Digital Miner does a far bigger job, as it’ll search and mine every chunk around it, and that’s the page to read next.
FAQ
It converts items that share a tag into one chosen version, like turning every mod’s
Tin Ingot into Mekanism’s. You’ll add a filter with a tag such as c:ingots/tin and pick the output with the Next Item button. It uses no energy and handles one item at a time.
Place a Seismic Vibrator, power it from the back, and stand in the same chunk. Right-click with a charged Seismic Reader and it’ll list every block below you, down to the bottom of the world. It only works in the chunk the running vibrator is in.
Give it a redstone signal from a
Lever, a
Redstone Comparator or anything else, and it’ll light up and sound until the signal stops. It needs no power, and wiring it to a
Fission Reactor Logic Adapter set to High Temperature will make it go off at 1,200 K.
That message means there’s no running Seismic Vibrator in the chunk you’re standing in. The vibrator has to be powered through its back and switched on, and the reader only works inside that one chunk, so you might just be a few blocks over the border.
