The
Enrichment Chamber is a Mekanism machine that turns an ore block into 2 dust, which is the 2x step of ore processing and the first way you’ll have of getting more than one ingot from an ore. It uses 20 FE/t (50 J/t) and takes 10 seconds for each item.
It does a lot more than ores as well, as it’s used to make the Enriched items that a
Metallurgic Infuser runs on, and it has a long list of smaller recipes like
Gravel into
Flint. You’ll end up building more than one, since two later machines need an Enrichment Chamber as part of their own recipe.
How to Make It
You’ll need a
Steel Casing in the middle, with 2
Iron Ingots at the sides, 2
Basic Control Circuits above and below it and 4
Redstone Dust in the corners. The casing is the part that takes the longest, as it needs Steel and Osmium.
That means a
Metallurgic Infuser has to be running first, which is used to make both the Steel and the circuits. Once the chamber is placed, it only needs power to start working, and a single
Heat Generator touching it is able to run it.
How It Works
There’s one input slot and one output slot, and whatever goes in will be finished after 10 seconds. An ore block of any of the seven metals (Iron, Gold, Copper, Osmium, Tin,
Lead and Uranium) comes out as 2 of its dust, which you’ll then smelt in an
Energized Smelter for 2 ingots.

Raw ore is different, as it’s taken 3 at a time and gives 4 dust, so each raw ore is only worth a third more than smelting it. To get the full doubling you’ll want to mine with Silk Touch and bring the ore blocks home. A block of raw ore gives 12 dust in one go.
The Enrichment Chamber doesn’t get replaced when you move up to 3x, 4x or 5x. It’s still the machine that cleans Dirty Dust like
Dirty Iron Dust into normal dust, one for one, so every higher tier will send its items through it near the end.
Recipes
Besides the metals, these are the recipes that you’ll use the most. Ore blocks need Silk Touch to pick up, and the Redstone and
Lapis Lazuli numbers are a lot better than mining them by hand without Fortune.
| Input | Output |
|---|---|
| Metal ore block | 2 dust |
| 3 raw ore | 4 dust |
| Block of raw ore | 12 dust |
| Dirty Dust | 1 dust |
| Coal, Diamond, Emerald or Nether Quartz Ore | 2 of the gem |
| Redstone Ore | 12 Redstone Dust |
| Lapis Lazuli Ore | 12 Lapis Lazuli |
| Fluorite Ore | 6 Fluorite |
| Ancient Debris | 2 Netherite Scrap |
| Uranium Ingot | 2 Yellow Cake Uranium |
| 3 HDPE Pellets | 1 HDPE Sheet |
| 8 Sawdust | 1 Charcoal Dust |
| Gravel or Gunpowder | 1 Flint |
| Glowstone | 4 Glowstone Dust |
It will also turn a dust back into its gem, like
Diamond Dust into a
Diamond, and it’s able to clean the oxidation off Copper blocks one stage at a time. Flowers give 2 dye each in here, or 4 for the tall ones.
Enriched Items
A
Metallurgic Infuser is able to take plain
Coal or
Redstone Dust, but each one is only worth 10 mB. If you put the same item through the Enrichment Chamber first, it becomes an Enriched item that’s worth 80 mB, so one piece of Coal will go eight times as far.
There are six of them, which are
Enriched Carbon from Coal or
Charcoal,
Enriched Redstone,
Enriched Diamond,
Enriched Obsidian from
Refined Obsidian Dust, and
Enriched Gold and
Enriched Tin from their dusts. It’s worth doing this for every infusing material you use.

On 1.20.1,
Obsidian went into the Enrichment Chamber to make
Obsidian Dust, which is how a lot of older guides still describe it. That recipe has moved in newer versions, so you’ll need a
Crusher for it instead.
Upgrades and Automation
The chamber takes up to 8
Speed Upgrades and 8
Energy Upgrades, as well as a single
Muffling Upgrade. With all 8 Speed Upgrades it will finish an item every second, but the power goes up to 2,000 FE/t, and adding 8 Energy Upgrades brings that back down to 200 FE/t.
Nothing is pushed out of the machine by default, so finished dust will sit in the output slot until it’s full. You’ll have to turn on auto-eject in the side configuration tab to have it pass items along, which Configurator and Side Configuration explains.
When one chamber isn’t keeping up, it can be upgraded in place into an Enriching Factory, which will work on up to 9 items at once. With the 2x line built, the next thing to sort out is power, and a
Heat Generator is where most players start.
FAQ
It turns ore blocks into 2 dust for ore doubling, and it cleans Dirty Dust into normal dust on the higher tiers. It’s used to make
Enriched Carbon,
Enriched Redstone and the other Enriched items as well, which are worth 80 mB in a
Metallurgic Infuser instead of 10 mB.
Raw ore is processed 3 at a time in the Enrichment Chamber, so one or two pieces will sit in the slot and nothing happens. Once there are 3 in there it’ll make 4 dust from them. It also needs power, either from a generator next to it or through a cable.
It uses 20 FE/t while it’s working, which is 4,000 FE for each item, and it holds 8,000 FE itself.
Speed Upgrades raise that a lot, as 8 of them make it use 2,000 FE/t, so you’ll want
Energy Upgrades in there with them.
It takes Speed, Energy and
Muffling Upgrades, and it’s able to be turned into an Enriching Factory with a Tier Installer, which runs 3, 5, 7 or 9 items at once depending on the tier. The factory keeps doing every recipe that the single chamber does.
