The
Antiprotonic Nucleosynthesizer is a Mekanism machine that uses Antimatter to turn one item into another, like an
Egg into a
Dragon Egg or
Coal into a
Diamond. It’s the main thing you’ll spend Antimatter on, and with 21 recipes, it’s able to make a lot of the vanilla items that normally can’t be crafted at all.
Each recipe only takes between 1 and 5 mB of Antimatter, so a single
Antimatter Pellet will last for hundreds of crafts. The machine itself is expensive to run though, as it draws 40,000 FE/t (100,000 J/t) the whole time it’s working.
How to Make It
You’ll need 2
Antimatter Pellets just to craft the
Antiprotonic Nucleosynthesizer, which go on either side of a
Steel Casing. The other spots are filled with 4
Atomic Alloy in the corners, and an
Ultimate Control Circuit above and below the casing.
The pellets are the real cost, as each one is 1,000 mB of Antimatter from a Supercritical Phase Shifter, and that’s 400 billion FE of power for every pellet. So you’ll have an SPS running well before this machine, and it’s worth making a third pellet at the same time to have something to run it on.
How It Works

The
Antiprotonic Nucleosynthesizer has an item slot on the left, an output slot on the right and an Antimatter tank that holds 10,000 mB. Antimatter can be piped in as a chemical, or you’re able to drop an
Antimatter Pellet straight into the small slot under the tank, which will turn it into 1,000 mB.
Power and Time
When there’s an item it has a recipe for and enough Antimatter in the tank, it’ll take the Antimatter once and then work for between 10 and just over 60 seconds, depending on the recipe. It uses 40,000 FE/t for that whole time and holds 400 million FE, so the cheapest craft costs 8 million FE and the longest ones cost 50 million.
As the recipes are measured in single mB, one Antimatter Pellet is enough for 200 of the most expensive crafts, or 1,000 of the cheapest ones. It’s the power that adds up here, so make sure the machine is on a line that can spare 40,000 FE/t.
Like the other item machines, it won’t push its output out by itself until auto-eject is turned on in the side configuration, which the
Configurator page covers. The sides for items, Antimatter and power are all able to be set separately.
Recipes

Every recipe is one item and a small amount of Antimatter, and they’re grouped below by how much they use. The recipes for Wool need that exact color, whereas the ones for a flower, a
Chest,
Leather or a Bed will take any type.
| Input | Antimatter | Time | Power Used | Output |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bow | 1 mB | 10 s | 8 million FE | Crossbow |
| Obsidian | 1 mB | 10 s | 8 million FE | Crying Obsidian |
| Tin Ingot | 1 mB | 10 s | 8 million FE | Iron Ingot |
| Any small flower | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Chorus Flower |
| Amethyst Shard | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Echo Shard |
| Any wooden Chest | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Ender Chest |
| Yellow Wool | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Glowstone |
| Blue Wool | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Block of Lapis Lazuli |
| Light Gray Wool | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Block of Quartz |
| Red Wool | 2 mB | 25 s | 20 million FE | Block of Redstone |
| Golden Apple | 3 mB | 37.5 s | 30 million FE | Enchanted Golden Apple |
| Beacon | 3 mB | 37.5 s | 30 million FE | End Crystal |
| Flower Pot | 3 mB | 37.5 s | 30 million FE | Nautilus Shell |
| Leather | 3 mB | 37.5 s | 30 million FE | Phantom Membrane |
| Any Bed | 3 mB | 37.5 s | 30 million FE | Respawn Anchor |
| Coal | 4 mB | 50 s | 40 million FE | Diamond |
| Diamond | 4 mB | 50 s | 40 million FE | Emerald |
| Egg | 4 mB | 50 s | 40 million FE | Dragon Egg |
| Diamond Sword | 4 mB | 50 s | 40 million FE | Trident |
| Nether Star | 5 mB | 62.5 s | 50 million FE | Heart of the Sea |
| Skeleton Skull | 5 mB | 62.5 s | 50 million FE | Wither Skeleton Skull |
The ones you’ll likely use the most are the items that are slow or random to get otherwise, like the
Trident, the
Wither Skeleton Skull and the
Enchanted Golden Apple. An
Egg into a
Dragon Egg is the only way to get more than one of those in a world, and
Coal into
Diamonds is the one to leave running with a stack of Coal in the slot.
Recipes That Cost More Than They Give
The
Heart of the Sea recipe uses up a
Nether Star, so it’s only worth it if you’ve got a Wither farm, and the
Tin Ingot to
Iron Ingot recipe costs far more in power than the Iron is worth. They’re all at the same 40,000 FE/t, so the time is the only thing that changes the cost.
Upgrades and Automation
The only upgrade that fits is the
Muffling Upgrade, which makes it quieter. Speed and
Energy Upgrades can’t be installed, so there isn’t a way to make a craft faster or cheaper, and if you want more output you’ll need a second machine. The Machine Upgrades page lists what each upgrade does on the machines that take them.
To automate it, you’ll want to pipe items into the input side with a Logistical Transporter, turn on auto-eject for the output, and feed Antimatter in through a tube from a Chemical Tank. As Antimatter isn’t radioactive, it’s safe to store that way. The machine that makes it is covered on the Supercritical Phase Shifter page.
FAQ
It uses Antimatter to change one item into another, with 21 recipes like an
Egg into a
Dragon Egg, a
Diamond Sword into a
Trident or a
Skeleton Skull into a
Wither Skeleton Skull. Most of what it makes are vanilla items that can’t normally be crafted.
Each craft takes between 1 and 5 mB, so one
Antimatter Pellet, which is 1,000 mB, is enough for 200 to 1,000 crafts. The 2 pellets that go into crafting the machine are a much bigger cost than running it.
Speed Upgrades and
Energy Upgrades won’t go in, as the
Muffling Upgrade is the only one it accepts. Every craft runs at 40,000 FE/t for a fixed time, so the only way to make items faster is to build another one beside it.
You’re able to pipe it in as a chemical through a Pressurized Tube, or place an Antimatter Pellet in the small slot under the tank, which turns it into 1,000 mB. The tank holds 10,000 mB, so it only needs topping up now and then.
