The
Electric Bow is a Mekanism weapon that fires
Arrows just like a normal Bow, but it runs on energy and never loses durability. Each shot costs 48 FE (120 J) out of a 48,000 FE battery, which works out at 1,000 shots from a full charge, and it won’t fire at all once there isn’t enough energy left for one.
It also has a Fire Mode that you’re able to switch on and off, which will set every Arrow alight as if the Bow had the Flame enchantment. Those shots cost 10 times as much, so it’s something to turn on when you need it and not to leave running.
How to Get It
You’ll craft the
Electric Bow from 3
String, 2
Infused Alloy and an
Energy Tablet. Infused Alloy comes out of the
Metallurgic Infuser and the Energy Tablet is a simple craft, so it’s a weapon that you’re able to make as soon as your first machines are running.
It’s charged like any other powered item, either in the charge slot of an Energy Cube or by standing on a
Chargepad with it in your inventory. It takes in up to 240 FE a tick, so an empty Bow will be full again after about 10 seconds.
How to Use It
The
Electric Bow is drawn and fired in the same way as a vanilla
Bow, and it still needs
Arrows in your inventory to shoot. The energy only replaces the durability, so it draws and hits like a normal Bow does, and the energy is only taken when an Arrow actually leaves it.

With Fire Mode off, a shot costs 48 FE, so you’ll get 1,000 of them before it needs charging. It counts as a Bow for enchanting, so books like Power, Punch and Infinity should go on it at an
Anvil, although Flame isn’t one that you’ll be offered, as the Bow has its own version of it built in.
Fire Mode
Press the Item Mode Switch key while you’re holding the Bow to turn Fire Mode on or off, which is N by default, and the tooltip will show which it’s set to. While it’s on, every Arrow is fired burning and will set its target on fire, exactly like Flame I would.
| Mode | Energy per Shot | Shots per Full Charge |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Mode off | 48 FE (120 J) | 1,000 |
| Fire Mode on | 480 FE (1,200 J) | 100 |
Fire Mode starts switched off on a new Bow, and it’s the more expensive way to shoot, as each Arrow uses 480 FE. A full charge only covers 100 burning shots, so it’s worth switching it off for mobs that are immune to fire, as you’d be paying 10 times the energy for nothing.
Electric Bow vs a Normal Bow
The main thing you’ll gain from the
Electric Bow is that it can’t break, as there’s no durability bar to run down, and that it gives you Flame without using up an enchantment. A vanilla Bow would have to be repaired or replaced after a few hundred shots, whereas this one only has to be recharged.

It doesn’t hit any harder on its own, though, so you’ll still want Power on it for tougher mobs. The
Robit is the thing to look at next, as its page covers the
Chargepad as well, which will keep items like this one topped up while you stand on it.
FAQ
It’s used just like a normal Bow, so hold right-click to draw and let go to fire, with
Arrows in your inventory. It needs energy to shoot as well, 48 FE for each shot, and it can be charged in an Energy Cube or on a
Chargepad when it runs low.
The Electric Bow still uses Arrows, as the energy only takes the place of durability and doesn’t make the ammo. You’ll need a stack of them in your inventory like you would for a vanilla Bow, or the Infinity enchantment on the Bow with a single Arrow.
Hold the Bow and press the Item Mode Switch key, which is N by default, and the tooltip will change to show Fire Mode is on. Arrows will then be fired burning, like the Flame enchantment, but every shot costs 480 FE in place of 48, so it drains 10 times faster.
It’s charged with energy, so place it in the charge slot of an Energy Cube, or stand on a powered Chargepad while it’s in your inventory. The Bow holds 48,000 FE and takes in 240 FE a tick, which means it’ll be full after around 10 seconds either way.
