Welcome to Texturedle
Texturedle is a daily visual puzzle for Minecraft players. Each day presents a single texture taken straight from the game, shown heavily magnified so that only a small portion is visible at first. Your task is to identify what it belongs to within the game, it’s always some kind of block.
It rewards a different kind of knowledge than a word puzzle. Success here comes from recognizing the colors, patterns, and pixel detail you see every time you play: the grain of a wood type, the speckle of an ore, the weathering on a copper block. If you have
spent any real time in the game, a lot of that recognition is already second nature.
As with the rest of the daily games, there is one puzzle per day and it is the same for every player, refreshing at midnight UTC. It is free to play with no account required, and you can start guessing straight away.
How to Play
The goal is to name the source of the day’s texture in five guesses or fewer. The texture begins heavily zoomed in, so at the start you are working from only a handful of pixels and the overall color.
Type your guess for the block, and submit it. With each incorrect guess, the image zooms out a little further, revealing more of the texture and giving you more to work with. The puzzle ends as soon as you identify it correctly, or when your five guesses are used, at which point the answer and the full texture are shown.
Matching is deliberately forgiving: minor differences in spacing or punctuation will not count against you, so you can focus on getting the name right rather than its exact formatting. Common, everyday blocks come up more often than obscure ones, so they are usually a sensible early guess.
And because every wrong answer trades a clearer image for one of your five attempts, there is a balance to strike between waiting for more of the texture to appear and committing to a guess while you still have tries in hand. Identifying it early, from less of the image, is also what places you highest on the leaderboard.
Friends & Leaderboards
Playing as a guest is free and requires nothing from you, but creating a free account is what makes your results stick from one day to the next. The first benefit is your streak. Each day you solve the puzzle it grows, and missing a day resets it.
Because every daily game on the site feeds the same streak, a tough Texturedle does not have to end your run, solving any of the other games that day keeps it going. The second is the leaderboard shown beside the board. Players are ranked by how few guesses they needed, with earlier solves taking precedence in a tie, so identifying the texture from only a sliver of the image will place you near the top.
You can switch between a Global view, which ranks everyone for the day, and a Friends view, which shows only the players you have added, a more direct way to measure your result against people you know. Appearing on either simply requires being signed in when you solve. If you begin as a guest and then sign in, your result for the day is carried across, so deciding to create an account partway through costs you nothing.
