About Minecraft Craftle

Craftle is a daily crafting puzzle for Minecraft players. Each day you see one recipe laid out on a crafting table, with the output slot empty. Your job is to name the item it makes, in six guesses or fewer.

Some days the answer is obvious the moment you see the grid. Other days you will be staring at a pattern of sticks, string and slabs wondering which of the game’s hundreds of recipes it could be.

If you have played Minecraftle, Craftle flips the idea around: instead of building a recipe to find a hidden item, you get the recipe and have to name what it makes.

How to Play

  1. Look at the ingredients, where they sit and how many of each there are.
  2. Start typing the item’s name and pick it from the list, or type it in full and press Enter.
  3. If the recipe is shapeless, the puzzle says so. Only the ingredients matter, not where they are placed.
  4. Get it right within six guesses and the output slot fills in.

Tips

  • Count the ingredients. Eight of one block around a centre item is a very different recipe from a two-by-two square.
  • Empty slots are a clue too: tools, armour and stairs all have tell-tale shapes.
  • Colour matters. Wool, glass, concrete and banners often only differ by their dye.
  • The name list only contains real recipe outputs, so if it doesn’t suggest your guess, it is probably not the answer.

Craftle FAQ

Is Craftle like Minecraftle?
›

They are close cousins. Both are daily crafting puzzles with six guesses. In Minecraftle you place ingredients in the grid to work out a hidden recipe; in Craftle the recipe is already laid out and you name the item it crafts. Craftle is our own game and isn’t connected to Minecraftle, so you can play both each day.

Which recipes can come up?
›

Crafting-table recipes from vanilla Minecraft, including blocks, tools, armour, food, redstone parts and decorations.

What does “shapeless” mean?
›

A shapeless recipe works wherever you put the ingredients in the grid, so only what the ingredients are matters, not their positions.

How does the leaderboard work?
›

Signed-in players who solve the puzzle are ranked by the fewest guesses, with earlier solves winning a tie. The Friends tab shows just the people you have added.

When does the puzzle reset?
›

Every day at midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same puzzle, and the countdown under the board shows how long is left.

Do I need an account to play?
›

No. You can play straight away as a guest, and your stats and streak are kept in your browser. A free account saves them across devices, puts you on the daily leaderboard and lets you race your friends. If you sign in part-way through a puzzle, today’s guesses carry over.

Can I play old puzzles?
›

Yes. Tap the calendar button above the board to open the archive and replay any puzzle since the game launched. Archive games are practice, so they never change your streak or the leaderboards.
