The MekaSuit is Mekanism’s powered armor set, which is made up of the
MekaSuit Helmet,
MekaSuit Bodyarmor,
MekaSuit Pants and
MekaSuit Boots. On its own it has the same armor as Netherite, but while it’s charged a full set will absorb all of the damage from most attacks, and it pays for that with energy instead.
Each piece is crafted around the matching Netherite armor piece, with 4
HDPE Sheets, an
Ultimate Control Circuit, 2
Polonium Pellets and a
Basic Induction Cell. They all hold 6,400,000 FE (16,000,000 J) each, and everything else the suit is able to do, like flying or shielding you from radiation, comes from modules.
How to Get It

All four pieces use the same recipe in a
Crafting Table, and the only thing that changes is which Netherite piece goes in the middle. You’ll need 4
HDPE Sheets, an
Ultimate Control Circuit, 2
Polonium Pellets and a
Basic Induction Cell for each one.
For the full set that comes to 16 HDPE Sheets, 4 circuits, 8 Polonium Pellets and 4 cells, as well as a whole set of Netherite armor. There aren’t any alloys in the recipes themselves, though the Ultimate Control Circuit needs them. Polonium is what holds most players up, as it’s made from the waste of a Fission Reactor.
The sheets are on the HDPE page, the pellets are on Nuclear Waste, Plutonium and Polonium, and the cell is one of the parts of an Induction Matrix. The circuit is covered under Alloys and Control Circuits.
The pieces can’t be repaired, as they don’t have any durability, and they won’t burn in fire or Lava when they’re dropped either. If a piece is ever destroyed as an item, the modules that were installed in it will drop, so those aren’t lost.
How to Use It
You’ll wear the pieces like any other armor, and each one gives the same armor points, toughness and knockback resistance as its Netherite version. What’s different is that every piece has its own battery, and while there’s energy in it, it will absorb a fixed share of the damage you take before your armor is even counted.
| Piece | Damage Absorbed | Radiation Shielding With a Unit |
|---|---|---|
| MekaSuit Helmet | 15% | 25% |
| MekaSuit Bodyarmor | 40% | 40% |
| MekaSuit Pants | 30% | 20% |
| MekaSuit Boots | 15% | 15% |
| Full set | 100% | 100% |
Absorbing damage costs 40,000 FE for every point, which is half a heart, and each piece pays for its own share. A hit of 10 damage on a full set will cost 400,000 FE altogether, with 160,000 FE of it coming out of the
MekaSuit Bodyarmor as it takes the biggest share.
That makes the Bodyarmor the piece that runs out first, after about 400 points of damage across a full set with no
Energy Units. A piece that’s low on energy will absorb less, and an empty one absorbs nothing, so whatever gets through is then reduced like it would be by Netherite armor.
Damage that gets through
Most damage is covered, and that includes fire, Lava, lightning, falling blocks, the Wither effect and freezing. The Warden’s sonic boom is only absorbed at 75% though. The void, starvation and drowning aren’t absorbed at all, and neither is magic damage, like Instant Damage potions, unless the Helmet has an
Inhalation Purification Unit.
Fall damage is handled by the
MekaSuit Boots by themselves, which will take all of it for only 20 FE a point. The suit also gives no protection from radiation to start with, as each piece needs its own
Radiation Shielding Unit, and you’ll want one in all four to be fully covered. It’s the same with
Lasers, which need a
Laser Dissipation Unit.
Modules for Each Piece
Modules are installed at a
Modification Station, and each piece of the suit takes a different set. A module only works while its piece is being worn, and it draws energy from that piece’s battery. Every recipe and setting is listed on the MekaSuit and Meka-Tool Modules page.
| Piece | Modules |
|---|---|
| Any piece | Energy Unit, Radiation Shielding Unit, Laser Dissipation Unit, Color Modulation Unit |
| MekaSuit Helmet | Electrolytic Breathing Unit, Inhalation Purification Unit, Vision Enhancement Unit, Nutritional Injection Unit, Solar Recharging Unit |
| MekaSuit Bodyarmor | Jetpack Unit, Gravitational Modulating Unit, Elytra Unit, Charge Distribution Unit, Dosimeter Unit, Geiger Unit |
| MekaSuit Pants | Locomotive Boosting Unit, Hydrostatic Repulsor Unit, Motorized Servo Unit, Gyroscopic Stabilization Unit, Geothermal Generator Unit |
| MekaSuit Boots | Hydraulic Propulsion Unit, Magnetic Attraction Unit, Frost Walker Unit, Soul Surfer Unit |
The
Solar Recharging Unit and the
Geothermal Generator Unit come from Mekanism Generators, so you’ll only have them when that’s installed too, which it is in most modpacks. To change a module’s settings, press the Module Tweaker key while wearing the suit, which is the backslash key by default.

For flying there are two choices on the
MekaSuit Bodyarmor, and only one can be switched on at a time. The
Jetpack Unit burns Hydrogen like a
Jetpack does, whereas the
Gravitational Modulating Unit gives creative flight for 400 FE each tick, but it needs a
Nether Star and 3
Antimatter Pellets to craft.
Energy and Charging
Every piece holds 6,400,000 FE and takes in up to 40,000 FE a tick, and each
Energy Unit you install will double both of those. Up to 8 fit in a piece, which is about 1.6 billion FE. A
Charge Distribution Unit in the Bodyarmor keeps the pieces level with each other, so one of them won’t run dry before the rest.
The quickest way to charge the suit is to stand on a powered
Chargepad while you’re wearing it, and it’ll fill one piece after another. Each piece can also go in the charging slot of an Energy Cube. The Show HUD key, which is H, will put the charge of every piece on your screen.
A
Jetpack is used up when you craft the
Jetpack Unit, and the unit flies in the same way, with the same modes and the same Hydrogen use. If you haven’t made one yet, that’s the item to build on the way to the suit, as it’ll keep you in the air until the Polonium is ready.
FAQ
Each piece is crafted from the matching Netherite armor piece, 4
HDPE Sheets, an
Ultimate Control Circuit, 2
Polonium Pellets and a
Basic Induction Cell. You’ll need a Fission Reactor running before you can make any of them, as that’s where the Polonium comes from.
With no energy in it, a MekaSuit has the same armor values as Netherite and nothing more. While it’s charged, a full set absorbs 100% of most damage for 40,000 FE a point, so you won’t lose any health from things like mobs, fire or falls until a piece runs out.
It doesn’t protect you at all until you install
Radiation Shielding Units, and each piece needs its own. One in every piece gives the same 100% shielding as a full Hazmat Suit, whereas a suit with only some of them will still let part of the radiation through.
Standing on a powered
Chargepad while wearing it is the easiest way, as it’ll charge every piece in turn. The pieces can be put in an Energy Cube’s charging slot as well, and with Mekanism Generators installed the
Solar Recharging Unit will top up the Helmet in sunlight.
