About Minecraft Connections

Minecraft Connections is a daily grouping puzzle. You get sixteen Minecraft things, and your job is to sort them into four hidden groups of four that share something in common.

The catch is that many of the tiles look like they belong in more than one group. Spotting the trap is half the fun, and the more corners of the game you know, the easier the connections become.

How to Play

  1. Pick four tiles you think belong together and press Submit.
  2. If you’re right, the group locks in and shows its category. If three of your four are right, you’ll see One away.
  3. You can make four mistakes before the puzzle ends.
  4. Groups are colour-coded from yellow (most straightforward) to purple (trickiest).

Tips

  • Find the group you’re surest about first, then check whether any of its tiles could fit somewhere else.
  • Watch for words with two meanings. “Cat” could be a mob or a music disc.
  • Purple groups are often about names or wordplay rather than what the thing does in-game.
  • Use Shuffle to break up patterns your eye has locked onto.

Connections FAQ

What does “One away” mean?
›

Three of the four tiles you picked belong to the same group. Swap one of them out and try again.

How many mistakes can I make?
›

Four. After the fourth wrong guess the puzzle ends. Signed-in players see all four groups straight away; guests can find the categories the next day under the board.

How does the leaderboard work?
›

Signed-in players who solve the puzzle are ranked by the fewest mistakes, with earlier solves winning a tie. The Friends tab shows just the people you have added.

When does the puzzle reset?
›

Every day at midnight UTC. Everyone gets the same puzzle, and the countdown under the board shows how long is left.

Do I need an account to play?
›

No. You can play straight away as a guest, and your stats and streak are kept in your browser. A free account saves them across devices, puts you on the daily leaderboard and lets you race your friends. If you sign in part-way through a puzzle, today’s guesses carry over.

Can I play old puzzles?
›

Yes. Tap the calendar button above the board to open the archive and replay any puzzle since the game launched. Archive games are practice, so they never change your streak or the leaderboards.
