The Stove is a kitchen block from the Farmer’s Delight mod that works as a heat source for the
Cooking Pot and the
Skillet, and it’s able to cook up to six pieces of food on its own top as well. It’s a brick block with a
Campfire built into it, so it never needs fuel, and it will stay lit until you put it out yourself.
You’ll usually want a few of them in a kitchen, with a pot or a Skillet on some and raw meat cooking on the rest. It gives off light while it’s burning too, though it will also burn you if you walk across the top of it without sneaking.
Crafting

You’ll need 3
Iron Ingots, 4
Bricks and a
Campfire to make a Stove, with the iron along the top, the Campfire in the bottom middle and the Bricks around it. These are the brick blocks, not single
Brick items, so you’ll need a fair bit of
Clay to make a few of them.
A Stove has to be broken with a Pickaxe, the same as normal Bricks, or it won’t drop anything. Any food that was cooking on top will drop as well when it breaks, so you won’t lose it.
How to Use It
A Stove is already lit when you place it down, and you’ll see flames and smoke coming out of the front of it. It gives off a light level of 13 while it’s burning, which is a little less than a
Torch, and it won’t give off any light once it’s out.
Lighting and Putting It Out
Right-click it with any Shovel or a
Water Bucket to put it out, which costs the Shovel 1 durability or empties the bucket. To light it again, use
Flint and Steel or a
Fire Charge on it, which works just like lighting a
Campfire.

Putting a Stove out will stop it from heating whatever is on top, and any food on it will start to lose its progress, twice as fast as it cooked. It’s worth doing on Stoves you aren’t using, as an unlit Stove won’t hurt anyone who walks over it.
Cooking on Top
Right-click a lit Stove with something that can be cooked on a Campfire, like
Raw Beef or
Raw Bacon, and it will place one piece on top. There’s room for six at a time, and each one will cook on its own for 30 seconds, then pop off the top as an item so you’re able to pick it up.
| Raw Food | Cooked Result |
|---|---|
| Raw Beef, Raw Porkchop, Raw Chicken, Raw Mutton, Raw Rabbit | The cooked version of each meat |
| Raw Cod and Raw Salmon | Cooked Cod and Cooked Salmon |
| Potato and Kelp | Baked Potato and Dried Kelp |
| Raw Bacon, Raw Chicken Cuts, Raw Mutton Chops | Cooked Bacon, Cooked Chicken Cuts, Cooked Mutton Chops |
| Raw Cod Slice and Raw Salmon Slice | Cooked Cod Slice and Cooked Salmon Slice |
| Minced Beef | Beef Patty |
| Egg | Fried Egg |
The Stove uses the same recipes as a Campfire, so if a food can’t go on a Campfire it won’t go on the Stove either. That includes
Ham, which can only be turned into
Smoked Ham in a
Smoker, and the cut meats it does cook are covered on the Cut Meat and Fish page.
Once food is on the Stove you won’t be able to take it back off by hand, so it will cook until it’s done. The only way to get it back early is to break the Stove, or to place a block on top of it, which knocks everything off.
Heat Sources
A lit Stove counts as a heat source for anything that needs heat from below, which mostly means the
Cooking Pot and the
Skillet. Neither of them will show a tray when they’re on a Stove, as they would over a
Campfire, since the Stove is a full block they can sit on.
Putting a pot or a Skillet on top covers the cooking spots, so you won’t be able to cook food on the Stove itself at the same time. It will still keep the pot hot, which makes the two of them the usual setup for cooking meals.
Heat will pass up through one
Hopper, so a Stove under a Hopper is able to keep a Cooking Pot above the Hopper cooking. It’s a handy way to feed a pot automatically, with the Stove tucked out of the way underneath.
Standing on a Stove
Walking onto a lit Stove will burn you for 1 damage, which is half a heart, over and over while you stand on it. Sneaking will stop it from hurting you, and so will Frost Walker boots, while mobs will try to walk around a lit Stove rather than across it.
On 1.21.1, Fire Resistance and fire-immune mobs are safe on it as well, as the burn counts as fire damage there. That isn’t the case on 1.20.1, where only sneaking, Frost Walker or a mob that’s immune to fire will keep you from taking damage.
FAQ
Put 3
Iron Ingots across the top of a
Crafting Table, a
Campfire in the bottom middle, and 4
Bricks in the four slots around the Campfire. These are the brick blocks rather than single Bricks, and the Stove will be lit as soon as you place it.
Place a
Cooking Pot or a
Skillet on top to give it heat, or right-click it with raw meat to cook up to six pieces on it at once. Food takes 30 seconds, the same as on a Campfire, and it will pop off the top when it’s done.
Right-click it with any Shovel or a
Water Bucket to put it out, and use
Flint and Steel or a
Fire Charge to light it again. An unlit Stove won’t heat a pot or cook food, but it won’t burn anyone who walks on it either.
It doesn’t need any fuel at all, as it will stay lit for as long as you like once it’s burning, unlike a
Furnace or a
Smoker. It won’t go out on its own either, so you’ll have to use a Shovel or a Water Bucket on it when you want it off.
