Crabber’s Delight is a Farmer’s Delight add-on built around seafood, and the first thing you’ll make with it is the
Crab Trap, a block that catches Crabs, Clawsters, Shrimp and Clams for you while it sits underwater. Those catches then go into soups, skewers and platters that are cooked with the base mod’s kitchen blocks.
On top of the food it adds a Crab mob for the coast, Palm Trees that grow on beaches, and Pearls that you’re able to trade with a Wandering Trader. It’s one of the bigger food add-ons, so you’ll find that it changes how you use the coast as well as how you use the kitchen.
What It Adds
The four main catches are the
Crab, the
Clawster (a lobster),
Shrimp and the
Clam, and nearly every dish in the mod starts from one of them. Alongside those there are new cuts from vanilla mobs, like
Raw Squid Tentacles and
Raw Frog Legs, and you’re finally able to cook a
Tropical Fish.

A few tools come with it too. The
Crab Claw gives you 3 extra blocks of reach while you hold it, the
Pearl Necklace lets you breathe and swim faster whenever you’re wet, and a
Coconut Helmet is what you’ll end up wearing if a Coconut falls on your head.
Crab Trap

The Crab Trap is crafted from 3
Safety Nets, 2
Sticks and 3 wooden slabs, and it has to be placed underwater with water in all 8 blocks around it on the same level. Once it’s set up it will pull something into its 9 catch slots every 3 to 7 minutes, and about twice as often in Ocean and River biomes.
What it catches depends on the bait in its top slot. Fish get used up one per catch and bring in mostly one creature with some junk, and you can still leave the trap empty, though it’ll mostly bring up Sticks,
Kelp, Cans and Fish Bones.
| Bait | Main Catch | Other Catches |
|---|---|---|
| None | Crab, Clawster, Shrimp or Clam (5% each) | Stick, Kelp, Can, Fish Bones (20% each) |
| Cod | Crab (35%) | Nautilus Shell, Rope, Stick, Can, Fish Bones, Copper Ingot |
| Salmon | Clawster (35%) | Nautilus Shell, Rope, Stick, Can, Fish Bones, Copper Ingot |
| Tropical Fish | Shrimp (31%) | Nautilus Shell, Rope, Stick, Coral Fragments, Can, Fish Bones, Copper Ingot |
| Pufferfish | Clam (31%) | Nautilus Shell, Rope, Stick, Coral Fragments, Can, Fish Bones, Copper Ingot |
| Bucket of Chum | Its creature (100%) | None |
A
Bucket of Chum is the better bait, as it makes every catch the same creature and lasts 48 catches before the trap hands back the empty Bucket. Each one is crafted from 4 of the matching fish, 4
Bone Meal and a Bucket.
A
Hopper on top of the trap will feed bait into it, and a Hopper on any other side pulls the catches out, so a few traps in a row can run on their own. Each catch slot only holds 8 items though, so it fills up quicker than you’d expect.
How It Works With Farmer’s Delight
Crabs, Clawsters and Shrimp can only be cooked in the
Cooking Pot, as there’s no
Furnace or
Campfire recipe for them. You’ll put one in the pot on its own to boil it, and the pot is also where the bigger dishes are made, like
Seafood Gumbo,
Clam Chowder,
Bisque and the
Clam Bake.
The
Cutting Board does a lot of work here too. A Clam has to be cut open with a Knife to get the
Raw Clam Meat out, with a 50% chance of a
Pearl, and every fish you cut leaves
Fish Bones behind, which craft into 3
Bone Meal for making chum. Breaking Coral on the board with a Pickaxe gives
Coral Fragments as well.

If you kill a
Squid or a Frog with a Knife like the
Iron Knife, they’ll drop their tentacles or legs, and if the mob was on fire they’re going to drop already cooked, the same way that
Ham works in the base mod. Most of the dishes use base mod crops as well, like the
Onion and
Cooked Rice.
Getting the Ingredients
Crabs
Crabs spawn in groups of 2 to 5 on Beaches, Stony Shores, Snowy Beaches, Swamps and Mangrove Swamps, and they’ll follow you if you’re holding
Kelp, which is also what you breed them with. Killing one drops a Crab, and now and then a Crab Claw instead, which Looting makes more likely.
Palm Trees
Beaches also get Palm Trees, which grow with a few
Coconuts around them, and you’ll find
Seashells lying on the sand too. Coconuts will fall like
Sand once nothing is holding them up, so it’s worth being careful when you mine under a Palm Tree, and you can knock one down by shooting it.
Pearls and Trading
Pearls are worth saving, as a Wandering Trader will take them in exchange for a
Sponge, a
Heart of the Sea or even a
Trident. Fishermen will also buy your catches and Pearls for
Emeralds.
Best Picks

Surf ‘n Turf is the one to make first, as it’s crafted without the
Cooking Pot from any cooked seafood, a
Baked Potato and a
Steak, and it gives 14 hunger with 5 minutes of Nourishment. Any of the cooked catches will work for it, even a Cooked Shrimp, so it’s easy to keep making once a trap is running.
The Crab Claw is the best non-food item, and it only loses durability when you actually use the extra reach. Holding two Claws at once gives you nothing though, so keep one in your off hand and a tool in the other.
Versions
Crabber’s Delight is only made for Forge and NeoForge, there’s no Fabric build. This page was checked against 1.2.3 for 1.20.1 Forge, which is the branch with the most downloads by a long way.
| Minecraft | Loaders | Latest File |
|---|---|---|
| 1.21.1 | NeoForge | 1.3.1, September 2026 |
| 1.20.1 | Forge, NeoForge | 1.2.3, April 2026 (Forge) |
| 1.19.2 | Forge | 1.1.4, 2024 |
| 1.18.2 | Forge | 1.1.2, 2023 |
The 1.21.1 build is a much bigger update, which adds a Tackle Box with lures, Worms and a Worm Bin, a Life Preserver and Messages in a Bottle, along with a few more foods. The two kebabs aren’t in that version though, and you can compare it with other seafood add-ons on the Farmer’s Delight Add-ons page.
FAQ
It needs to be underwater with water in the 3×3 around it, and then it catches something every few minutes into its 9 slots. The bait decides the catch, like Cod for Crabs or Salmon for Clawsters, and a
Bucket of Chum makes every catch the same creature.
Crab Claws drop from Crabs, which spawn on Beaches, Stony Shores and in Swamps, though most kills will only give you a Crab. Looting raises the chance, and the Claw can’t be crafted or caught in a Crab Trap.
There isn’t a Fabric version, as the mod is only released for Forge and NeoForge. The 1.20.1 branch has had builds for both Forge and NeoForge, whereas the newest 1.21.1 build is NeoForge only.
