Drinks are the bottled foods from the Farmer’s Delight mod, and there are four of them, the
Milk Bottle,
Hot Cocoa,
Apple Cider and
Melon Juice. They all come in a
Glass Bottle, which you’ll get back once you’ve finished drinking, and they stack to 16, so they’re much easier to carry than a bucket of milk.
None of them will fill your hunger bar, as each one does a single job instead, like clearing an effect, giving you Absorption or healing you a little. Because they don’t restore any hunger, you’re able to drink all of them even when your hunger bar is full, which makes them useful in the middle of a fight.
Milk Bottles
Milk Bottles are made by putting a
Milk Bucket and 4
Glass Bottles into a
Crafting Table, which gives you 4 Milk Bottles and leaves the empty Bucket behind. It works the other way too, as 4 Milk Bottles and an empty
Bucket will turn back into a full Milk Bucket.
Drinking a Milk Bottle will clear one of your effects at random, so it’s a smaller version of drinking a whole Milk Bucket, which clears all of them. It doesn’t care whether the effect is good or bad though, so if you’ve got Poison and Strength at the same time, it might take away the Strength and leave the Poison.
Milk in Recipes
The main reason to make Milk Bottles is cooking, as every Farmer’s Delight recipe that asks for milk will take a bottle in place of a bucket. That’s the
Pie Crust, the
Chocolate Pie and Cheesecake, Hot Cocoa,
Glow Berry Custard and a few of the meals, so one bucket of milk is able to go four times as far.
The mod even adds a second recipe for vanilla
Cake that takes 3 Milk Bottles instead of 3 Milk Buckets, so you won’t be left with a pile of empty buckets afterwards. The Pies and Desserts page has the recipes for the sweets that use it.
Hot Cocoa and Apple Cider
Hot Cocoa and Apple Cider are both cooked in a
Cooking Pot, and you’ll need a
Glass Bottle in the container slot to collect them, the same way the bowl meals need a
Bowl. Hot Cocoa is made from milk, a
Sugar and 2
Cocoa Beans, whereas Apple Cider only needs 2
Apples and a Sugar.
Hot Cocoa works like a Milk Bottle, but it will only ever clear a harmful effect, so it’s the one to drink when you’ve got something like Poison, Wither or Mining Fatigue and want to keep your good effects. It still only clears one at a time though, and it picks one at random if you’ve got more than one bad effect.

Apple Cider gives you Absorption I for 1 minute, which is 2 extra hearts that get used up before your real health does. It’s a good thing to drink just before a fight, as it can be drunk at any time, even with a full hunger bar.
Melon Juice

Melon Juice is crafted from 4
Melon Slices, a
Sugar and a
Glass Bottle, and it doesn’t need the
Cooking Pot at all. Drinking it will heal you by 1 heart straight away, so it works like a very small Potion of Healing that you can make from your
Melon farm.
Since it heals you instead of filling your hunger, you won’t get any saturation from it, and it won’t help you regenerate later. It’s really there for a quick top-up, like when you’re low on health and don’t want to wait for your hunger bar to heal you.
Effects
None of the drinks restore hunger or saturation, so what matters is what each one does when you drink it. All four take the same time to drink as a Potion, and they all stack to 16 and give you the
Glass Bottle back.
Drinks
These work the same way on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the effects they clear are the same ones a
Milk Bucket would. So an effect that milk can’t remove won’t be touched by a Milk Bottle or Hot Cocoa either, and the mod’s own Nourishment is never picked by Hot Cocoa, as it isn’t a harmful effect.
Best Picks
Hot Cocoa is the one most worth carrying, as it’s the only way to get rid of a bad effect without losing your good ones, and it’s cheap once you’ve got a Cocoa Bean farm. Apple Cider is better before a fight than during one, as the 2 extra hearts from Absorption will be there to soak up the first few hits.
Milk Bottles are more useful as an ingredient than as a drink, though a few in your inventory will take up much less space than a
Milk Bucket. Melon Juice will only heal 1 heart, so it’s mostly something to make when you’ve got spare
Melons and
Sugar lying around.
FAQ
You’ll need to craft them, as there’s no way to fill a
Glass Bottle straight from a Cow. Putting a
Milk Bucket and 4 Glass Bottles into a
Crafting Table gives you 4 Milk Bottles, and you’ll get the empty
Bucket back as well.
Drinking one will clear a single effect at random, whether it’s good or bad, which is like a smaller Milk Bucket. It’s mostly used for cooking though, as it works in every recipe that needs milk, like
Pie Crust and Hot Cocoa.
Hot Cocoa is made in a
Cooking Pot from milk, a
Sugar and 2
Cocoa Beans, with a Glass Bottle in the container slot. The milk can either be a Milk Bucket or a Milk Bottle, and the pot needs a heat source like a
Stove or a lit
Campfire underneath it.
Putting 4 Milk Bottles and an empty Bucket into a Crafting Table will give you a full Milk Bucket again. It’s handy when you need to clear every effect at once, as a Milk Bucket removes all of them, whereas a bottle only takes one.
