Plates and salads are meals from the Farmer’s Delight mod that you’ll put together at a
Crafting Table rather than cooking in a pot, using food you’ve already cooked. There are eight of them, the
Steak and Potatoes,
Roasted Mutton Chops,
Grilled Salmon,
Bacon and Eggs,
Stuffed Potato and three salads.
The four plates give Nourishment, which stops your hunger bar from going down while it lasts. The salads are lighter and give other effects instead, as the Mixed Salad and Fruit Salad give a few seconds of Regeneration, whereas the Nether Salad might leave you with Nausea.
Recipes

Every one of these is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the grid, and all of them apart from the Stuffed Potato take a
Bowl. A few use
Cooked Rice as well, and you’ll get its Bowl back in the grid when you craft them, so you’re only really spending one.
Plates
The
Steak and Potatoes takes a
Steak, a
Baked Potato, an
Onion and Cooked Rice, so you’ll want a few Cows and some
Rice growing before you make it.
Roasted Mutton Chops need
Cooked Mutton Chops, a
Beetroot, a
Tomato and Cooked Rice as well.
Grilled Salmon takes a
Cooked Salmon or a
Cooked Salmon Slice, with
Sweet Berries, some
Cabbage and an Onion.
Bacon and Eggs is 2
Cooked Bacon and 2
Fried Eggs, which you’ll cook on a
Skillet or in a
Furnace first.
Stuffed Potato
The
Stuffed Potato is the only one that doesn’t come in a Bowl, as it’s just a Baked Potato, a Steak or a
Beef Patty and a
Milk Bottle. A
Milk Bucket works in place of the bottle too, and you’ll get the empty
Glass Bottle or
Bucket back.
It stacks to 64 like a normal food, which makes it easier to carry than the plates, and it fills 10 hunger. It doesn’t give any effect though, so it’s more of a filling snack than a proper meal.
Salads
The
Mixed Salad is some Cabbage, a Tomato and a Beetroot in a Bowl, and the
Nether Salad is a
Crimson Fungus and a
Warped Fungus. The
Fruit Salad takes the most, as it needs an
Apple, 2
Melon Slices, 2 berries and a
Pumpkin Slice.
Any berries work in the Fruit Salad, so you’re able to use
Glow Berries if you don’t have Sweet Berries growing nearby. A
Cabbage Leaf from the
Cutting Board will work in place of a whole Cabbage in the Mixed Salad and the Grilled Salmon as well.
Effects
The plates all give Nourishment, but not always for as long as their hunger suggests. Grilled Salmon fills 14 hunger like the Roasted Mutton Chops but only gives 3 minutes of it, while Bacon and Eggs gives just 1 minute.
Plates and Salads Food Values
The Regeneration from the Mixed Salad and Fruit Salad only lasts 5 seconds, which is enough to heal about one heart. The Nether Salad will give you Nausea 30% of the time, so it’s worth eating somewhere safe if you do eat it, as the wobbling screen makes it hard to see.
Unlike a
Melon Popsicle or
Glow Berry Custard, the salads can’t be eaten while your hunger bar is full. Having Nourishment active from one of the plates gets around this, as it lets you eat anything at any time.
Best Picks
The
Roasted Mutton Chops give the most out of every plate, with 14 hunger and 5 minutes of Nourishment, and they only need a Sheep, a few crops and some
Rice. Steak and Potatoes is the easier one to make early on, as Cows tend to be easier to find than Rice is.
The salads are mostly worth making for their effects rather than the food. A
Fruit Salad or
Mixed Salad is a cheap bit of healing between fights, whereas the Nether Salad is a food you’ll only want to make in the Nether when there’s nothing else around.
FAQ
Steak and Potatoes is crafted from a
Steak, a
Baked Potato, an
Onion,
Cooked Rice and a
Bowl, in any order on a
Crafting Table. You’ll get the Bowl from the Cooked Rice back, and it fills 12 hunger with 3 minutes of Nourishment.
The Nether Salad fills 5 hunger, and it has a 30% chance of giving you Nausea for 12 seconds when you eat it. It’s made from a
Crimson Fungus, a
Warped Fungus and a Bowl, so it’s mostly useful as a food you can make in the Nether.
Grilled Salmon gives 3 minutes of Nourishment along with 14 hunger, which is shorter than the 5 minutes from Roasted Mutton Chops. It’s crafted from a
Cooked Salmon or
Cooked Salmon Slice,
Sweet Berries,
Cabbage, an Onion and a Bowl.
The Mixed Salad and the Fruit Salad both give 5 seconds of Regeneration I, along with 6 hunger each. The Nether Salad doesn’t, as it might give you Nausea instead, like a 30% chance every time you eat one.
