Ingredients are the in-between foods from the Farmer’s Delight mod, like
Tomato Sauce,
Wheat Dough and
Minced Beef, which you’ll make on the way to a proper meal. They’re made in a few different places, a
Crafting Table, a
Furnace, the
Cooking Pot or the
Cutting Board, and most of the mod’s pasta, soups and sandwiches need at least one of them.
You can eat all of them on their own, but they won’t restore much, and a couple of the raw ones might give you Hunger as well. So it’s worth thinking of them as parts instead, and keeping a small stack of each one near your kitchen so you’re able to cook whatever you need without making them from scratch every time.
Tomato Sauce

Tomato Sauce is made in a
Cooking Pot from 2
Tomatoes, and it needs a
Bowl in the container slot to collect it. It cooks in half the usual time, so a pot full of Tomatoes will turn into sauce quickly, and you’ll get the Bowl back when it’s used in a recipe or eaten.
It’s needed for three of the Cooking Pot meals,
Fish Stew,
Pasta with Meatballs and
Pasta with Mutton Chop, which are on the Soups and Stews and Pasta and Rice Dishes pages. Unlike most bowl foods, Tomato Sauce stacks to 64, so it’s easy to keep a stack ready for when you need it.
Fried Egg
A
Fried Egg is made by cooking an
Egg in a
Furnace,
Smoker or
Campfire, and it can be cooked on a
Skillet or
Stove as well. It’s one of the easiest things to make early on, since all you need is a few Chickens and something to cook with.
Fried Eggs go into the
Egg Sandwich, which needs 2 of them, and the
Bacon and Eggs plate, which also needs 2. They’ll restore 4 hunger if you eat one on its own, though they’re worth a lot more once they’ve gone into one of those.
Wheat Dough and Raw Pasta
Wheat Dough can be made two ways in a
Crafting Table. The first is 3
Wheat and an
Egg, which gives you 3 dough, and the second is a single Wheat with a
Water Bucket, which only gives you 1 dough, but the bucket isn’t used up, so you’ll be able to keep crafting it as long as you’ve got Wheat.
The water recipe needs exactly one Wheat in the grid, as adding a second one will stop it working, so you’ll have to craft it one at a time. Smelting Wheat Dough in a
Furnace or
Smoker will give you a piece of
Bread, which turns 1 Wheat into Bread instead of the usual 3.
Raw Pasta
Raw Pasta is made by cutting Wheat Dough on a
Cutting Board with a
Knife, and each dough gives one Raw Pasta. You’ll need it for most of the pasta dishes, like
Pasta with Meatballs,
Squid Ink Pasta and
Vegetable Noodles, as well as
Noodle Soup.
Wheat Dough is also used on its own in
Dumplings, so it’s worth keeping some of it as dough rather than cutting it all into pasta. Both the dough and the pasta have a 30% chance to give you Hunger for 30 seconds if you eat them raw, so they’re not worth eating unless you’re desperate.
Pumpkin Slice
You’ll get 4
Pumpkin Slices from cutting a
Pumpkin on a
Cutting Board, and you can also get them by breaking a Pumpkin with a Knife. Breaking it that way will drop the 4 slices instead of the Pumpkin itself, unless the Knife has Silk Touch.
Pumpkin Slices go into
Pumpkin Soup,
Fruit Salad and the Farmer’s Delight recipe for
Pumpkin Pie, which uses 4 of them and gives you 2 pies. You can turn 4 slices back into a whole Pumpkin, or a single slice into
Pumpkin Seeds, and one will restore 3 hunger if you eat it.
Right-clicking a Pumpkin with a Knife will carve it the way
Shears do, and you’ll get Pumpkin Seeds instead of slices. So make sure to break the Pumpkin rather than right-click it if you’re after the slices.
Minced Beef and Beef Patty
Cutting
Raw Beef on a
Cutting Board will give you 2 Minced Beef, which counts as Raw Beef in every recipe that takes it, like
Beef Stew and
Dumplings. That means one piece of Raw Beef is able to make two of those meals instead of one, and
Pasta with Meatballs needs Minced Beef specifically.
Cooking Minced Beef in a
Furnace,
Smoker or
Campfire will turn it into a
Beef Patty, which is what the
Hamburger needs. A Beef Patty also counts as cooked beef, so it can go into a
Stuffed Potato or a
Barbecue on a Stick in place of a
Steak.
Both of them are quick to eat, at half the usual time, and a Beef Patty will restore 4 hunger, so two of them from one Raw Beef add up to the same 8 hunger a Steak would give you. The Cut Meat and Fish page has the rest of the cuts, like
Raw Bacon and
Raw Chicken Cuts, which work the same way.
Effects
None of these give a useful effect, but Wheat Dough and Raw Pasta might give you Hunger if you eat them raw. Hunger is shown in points, where 2 points is one shank on your hunger bar, and the numbers are the same on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.
Ingredients
Of the seven, the Beef Patty is the only one that’s really worth eating on its own, as it has the most saturation and it’s quick to eat. The rest will restore a little hunger in a pinch, but they’re worth a lot more once they’ve gone into a meal from the
Cooking Pot.
Best Picks
If you’re just starting out, Tomato Sauce and Raw Pasta are the two worth stocking up on first, as between them they unlock most of the pasta dishes and
Fish Stew. Wheat Dough from the
Water Bucket recipe is the cheapest way to make the pasta, since you’ll only need
Wheat and a bucket of water.
Minced Beef is worth making whenever you’ve got
Raw Beef spare, as it doubles the number of
Beef Stews and
Dumplings you’ll get from each Cow. Beef Patties are the one to keep on you if you’d like to snack, as they’re quick to eat and have the most saturation of the seven.
FAQ
Tomato Sauce is made in a
Cooking Pot from 2
Tomatoes, with a
Bowl in the container slot. The pot needs a heat source underneath it, like a
Stove or a lit
Campfire, and the sauce is used in
Fish Stew and both of the tomato pasta dishes.
Raw Pasta comes from cutting Wheat Dough on a
Cutting Board with any Knife. You’ll get the dough from 3
Wheat and an
Egg, which makes 3 of it, or from 1 Wheat and a
Water Bucket, which makes 1 and lets you keep the bucket.
Wheat Dough is crafted from 3 Wheat and an Egg, which gives you 3, or from a single Wheat and a Water Bucket, which gives you 1. The water recipe doesn’t use up the bucket, so it’s handy when you’ve got lots of Wheat but no Eggs.
You can cut a
Pumpkin on a Cutting Board, or break a Pumpkin with a Knife, and both ways will give you 4 Pumpkin Slices. A Knife with Silk Touch will drop the whole Pumpkin instead, and right-clicking it with a Knife will carve it for seeds.
