Soups and stews are bowl meals from the Farmer’s Delight mod that you’ll cook in a
Cooking Pot, and there are nine of them, from the
Bone Broth you can make early on to the
Noodle Soup and
Baked Cod Stew. The Cooking Pot can also make
Mushroom Stew,
Beetroot Soup and
Rabbit Stew, and the mod makes those vanilla soups a lot better as well.
Every one of them gives Nourishment, which stops your hunger from going down while it lasts, and the bigger soups fill 12 or 14 hunger on top of that. None of them give Comfort, even though older guides often say they do, as every soup and stew in the mod gives Nourishment instead.
Recipes
Every soup is cooked in a
Cooking Pot sitting on a heat source like a
Stove or a lit
Campfire, and they all take 10 seconds. You’ll need an empty
Bowl to serve each one, and the pot only makes one bowl per batch, so it’s worth putting a stack of ingredients in and letting it cook several in a row.

Most of the recipes will take more than one kind of ingredient, so a cut from a
Cutting Board works just as well as the whole item does. You can use
Minced Beef in place of beef,
Raw Chicken Cuts in place of chicken and a
Cabbage Leaf in place of
Cabbage, and since one Cabbage cuts into 2 leaves, it’s enough for two soups instead of one.
Stews and Vegetable Soups
The
Beef Stew,
Chicken Soup,
Vegetable Soup and
Onion Soup are the easiest ones to make, as most of what they need grows on a farm. Chicken Soup takes any vegetable for its last ingredient, like a
Potato, an
Onion or a
Tomato.
Onion Soup needs 2 Onions,
Bread and a
Milk Bottle, though a
Milk Bucket works in place of the bottle as well. Vegetable Soup is the only one of the four with no meat in it at all, as it’s just a
Carrot, a Potato, a
Beetroot and some Cabbage.
Fish and Pork Soups
The
Fish Stew,
Baked Cod Stew,
Pumpkin Soup and
Noodle Soup take a few more steps, as they need things like
Tomato Sauce,
Raw Pasta or a
Pumpkin Slice. You’ll find how to make those on the Ingredients page.
Fish Stew takes any raw fish, so
Raw Cod,
Raw Salmon or either of their slices will work. Pumpkin Soup and Noodle Soup both need raw pork, which can be a
Raw Porkchop or
Raw Bacon, and the Baked Cod Stew only takes cod, either a whole Raw Cod or a
Raw Cod Slice.
Bone Broth
Bone Broth is the cheapest soup you’re able to make, as it only needs a
Bone and one other ingredient to go with it. You’ll find most of the options underground, like
Glow Berries, a
Brown Mushroom, a
Red Mushroom,
Hanging Roots or
Glow Lichen, so it’s easy to make one on the way back from a cave.
You’ll drink Bone Broth rather than eat it, though it still comes in a Bowl. It only gives 1 minute of Nourishment, but since every Skeleton drops Bones, it’s an easy way to get some Nourishment before you’ve got a proper farm going.
Vanilla Soups
The
Cooking Pot can make the three soups from vanilla Minecraft as well, which is handy if you’ve already got your ingredients going into one. Farmer’s Delight also gives them Nourishment when you eat them, and lets them stack up to 16 like the mod’s own soups, however you made them.
| Soup | Cooking Pot Ingredients |
|---|---|
| Mushroom Stew | Brown Mushroom, Red Mushroom |
| Beetroot Soup | 3 Beetroot |
| Rabbit Stew | Raw Rabbit, Carrot, Potato, Brown or Red Mushroom |
Rabbit Stew gets the biggest change, as it fills 14 hunger instead of 10 and gives 5 minutes of Nourishment.
Mushroom Stew and
Beetroot Soup keep their normal 6 hunger but give 3 minutes of Nourishment, and a modpack is able to turn both of these changes off in the config.
Effects
Every soup gives Nourishment, and how long it lasts depends on the soup. The 14 hunger soups give 5 minutes, the 12 hunger ones give 3 minutes, and Bone Broth gives just 1 minute, so the harder a soup is to make, the longer it will keep you going.
Soup and Stew Food Values
While Nourishment is active, your hunger bar won’t drop from running, mining or fighting, and you’re able to eat even with a full bar. It does pause while you’re healing from saturation, so you’ll still regenerate health normally after taking damage.
Best Picks
For a long trip, the
Noodle Soup,
Pumpkin Soup and
Baked Cod Stew give the most, with 14 hunger and 5 minutes of Nourishment each. Noodle Soup needs
Dried Kelp and
Raw Pasta, so it’s easier if you live near the sea, whereas Pumpkin Soup suits a farm with Pigs and
Pumpkins.
If you’ve got a Rabbit farm,
Rabbit Stew gives just as much and you don’t need any of the mod’s crops for it. Early on,
Beef Stew or
Vegetable Soup will do the job, as they only need things you’ll already be growing or breeding.
FAQ
There are nine soups and stews, Beef Stew, Chicken Soup, Vegetable Soup, Fish Stew, Onion Soup, Pumpkin Soup, Baked Cod Stew, Noodle Soup and Bone Broth. The
Cooking Pot can make
Mushroom Stew,
Beetroot Soup and
Rabbit Stew from vanilla Minecraft as well.
Soups and stews give Nourishment rather than Comfort, which stops your hunger bar from going down for anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes. None of the foods in the mod give Comfort when you eat them, though older guides still list soups as the way to get it.
Bone Broth is made in a Cooking Pot from a
Bone and either
Glow Berries, a Brown or
Red Mushroom,
Hanging Roots or
Glow Lichen. It takes 10 seconds over a heat source like a
Campfire, and you’ll need a
Bowl to serve it.
Noodle Soup, Pumpkin Soup and Baked Cod Stew all fill 14 hunger and give 5 minutes of Nourishment, which is the most any soup gives. Rabbit Stew matches them too, as the mod raises it to 14 hunger with 5 minutes of Nourishment as well.
