Sandwiches and Rolls are the handheld meals from the Farmer’s Delight mod, and unlike most of its food they’re made in a regular
Crafting Table instead of the
Cooking Pot. Most of them only need
Bread, a cooked meat and one or two of the mod’s crops, like
Cabbage,
Tomatoes or
Onions, so they’re some of the first meals you’ll be able to make.
None of them will give you an effect when you eat them, as they’re just there to fill up your hunger bar. The sandwiches will restore between 8 and 11 hunger each, which is as much as a
Steak or more, and the rolls are made from
Cooked Rice and fish, so you’ll be able to make them once you’ve got some
Rice growing.
Sandwiches and Wraps

Every sandwich starts with a piece of
Bread, and the rest of the recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the grid. The green can either be a whole
Cabbage or a single
Cabbage Leaf, which is the cheaper option, as one Cabbage cut on a
Cutting Board will give you 2 leaves.
The meat works the same way, as the recipes take the cut pieces as well as the whole ones. A
Cooked Chicken or two
Cooked Chicken Cuts will both make a Chicken Sandwich, so cutting the meat first will get you twice as many sandwiches out of the same animal. The
Mutton Wrap takes
Cooked Mutton or
Cooked Mutton Chops in the same way.
A couple of them need a specific item. The
Hamburger will only take a
Beef Patty, not a
Steak, and the
Bacon Sandwich needs
Cooked Bacon, which both come from cutting raw meat on a Cutting Board and then cooking it. The
Egg Sandwich is just Bread and 2
Fried Eggs, so it’s the easiest one to make if you’ve got Chickens nearby.
Beef Patties, Cooked Bacon and the other cut meats are all made on a Cutting Board with a
Knife, then cooked in a
Furnace,
Smoker or
Campfire. The Cut Meat and Fish and Ingredients pages have the full list of what each cut gives you.
Barbecue on a Stick
The
Barbecue on a Stick is made from a
Tomato, an
Onion, a
Stick and any cooked meat. It isn’t fussy about the meat, as it will take
Steak,
Cooked Porkchop,
Cooked Chicken or
Cooked Mutton, along with any of the cut versions like a
Beef Patty or a piece of
Cooked Bacon.
It will restore 8 hunger and 14.4 saturation, which is the same hunger as the Steak you might have put into it, but with more saturation. If you use a cut piece of meat instead of a whole one, you’ll also be able to make two of them from one Cooked Chicken.
Rolls

The
Salmon Roll and
Cod Roll are both made from 2 slices of raw fish and a bowl of
Cooked Rice, and each craft gives you 2 rolls. You’ll get the
Raw Salmon Slices or
Raw Cod Slices by cutting a whole fish on a
Cutting Board, which gives 2 slices and a bit of
Bone Meal, so one fish and one Cooked Rice will make 2 rolls.
The
Kelp Roll is the bigger one, and it’s made from 3
Dried Kelp along the bottom row, with 2 Cooked Rice and a vegetable above them. The vegetable can be a
Carrot,
Potato,
Beetroot,
Onion or
Tomato, so it’s a good use for whatever crop you’ve got too much of.
Kelp Roll Slices
A whole Kelp Roll will restore 12 hunger, but it takes longer to eat than most food, which is awkward in a fight. If you cut it on a Cutting Board instead, it will give you 3
Kelp Roll Slices, and each of those will restore 6 hunger and can be eaten in half the usual time.
So cutting the roll is worth it, as the 3 slices will add up to 18 hunger against the 12 you’d get from eating it whole. On 1.20.1 the whole Kelp Roll takes twice as long to eat as normal food, whereas on 1.21.1 it’s one and a half times as long, though the slices are quick to eat on both.
Effects
None of these foods give an effect, so the only things to compare are how much hunger and saturation each one will restore. Hunger is shown in points, where 2 points is one shank on your hunger bar, and saturation is the hidden value that decides how long it takes before your hunger starts to drop again.
Sandwiches and Rolls
On 1.20.1 the Kelp Roll gives 14.4 saturation instead of 12, but every other number here is the same on both versions. All of these foods will stack to 64 as well, which makes them a lot easier to carry around than the bowl meals.
Best Picks
The Hamburger will restore the most hunger out of all of the sandwiches, but it also takes the most work, as you’ll need to cut and cook the beef and grow
Cabbage,
Tomatoes and
Onions for it. The Chicken Sandwich, Bacon Sandwich and Mutton Wrap are only 1 point behind it, so it’s usually best to make whichever one you have the most meat for.
If you want something to eat quickly in a fight, Kelp Roll Slices are worth carrying, as you’re able to eat them in half the time and they still restore 6 hunger each. The Barbecue on a Stick sits in between, and it’s useful early on, as it doesn’t need
Bread or Cabbage at all, only a Tomato, an Onion and whatever meat you’ve cooked.
Later on, once you’ve got a
Cooking Pot running, the Soups and Stews will restore more than any of these, and they’ll give you Nourishment as well. Sandwiches are still handy to keep on you though, as they stack to 64 whereas a bowl meal only stacks to 16.
FAQ
A Hamburger is shapeless, so you’ll put
Bread, a
Beef Patty, a
Cabbage or
Cabbage Leaf, a
Tomato and an
Onion anywhere in a
Crafting Table. The Beef Patty comes from cutting
Raw Beef into
Minced Beef on a
Cutting Board and then cooking it, as a regular
Steak won’t work in this recipe.
The sushi in Farmer’s Delight is the Salmon Roll, the Cod Roll and the Kelp Roll. The fish rolls need 2 slices of raw fish and a
Cooked Rice, which gives you 2 rolls, whereas the Kelp Roll needs 3
Dried Kelp, 2 Cooked Rice and a vegetable like a
Carrot or Tomato.
Any recipe on this page that needs Cabbage will take a Cabbage Leaf instead, as they share the same tag. It’s the cheaper way to do it, since one Cabbage cut on a Cutting Board will give you 2 leaves, which is enough for two sandwiches instead of one.
Sandwiches and rolls will only restore hunger and saturation, so you won’t get an effect like Nourishment from them. If you want an effect, you’ll need to make the bowl meals in the
Cooking Pot, like the soups, stews and pasta dishes, which will restore more hunger as well.
