The Skillet is a frying pan from the Farmer’s Delight mod that you’re able to cook with in your hand, place down as a block, or swing at mobs as a heavy weapon. It cooks anything a
Campfire can, but it does it five times faster, so a piece of raw meat that would take 30 seconds on a Campfire will be done in about 6 seconds.
You’ll need to be standing next to some heat for it to work, like a Campfire, a
Stove or some Lava, so it’s handy to carry one on trips and cook whatever you hunt along the way. It hits harder than an
Iron Sword as well, though it’s a lot slower to swing.
Crafting

The Skillet is made from 4
Iron Ingots in a square, with one
Brick under them for the handle. It won’t stack, as it has durability like a tool does, and you can fix it with Iron Ingots on an
Anvil.
You might find one before you get the chance to craft it, as there’s a 12.5% chance of one turning up in an Abandoned Mineshaft chest. These will be damaged already, and you might get a
Cooking Pot from the same chest instead.
How to Use It
There are two ways to cook with the Skillet, either holding it while you stand next to heat, or placing it down on top of a heat source. Both of them use the same Campfire recipes and cook at the same speed, though only the placed one is able to work through a whole stack on its own.
Cooking in Your Hand
Hold the Skillet in one hand and the food in your other hand, then hold right-click while you’re standing within 1 block of a heat source. It will take one piece of food from your other hand and cook it, and the cooked item goes straight into your inventory once it’s done.
Letting go of right-click early will give you the raw food back, and you won’t be able to cook while you’re underwater. Being on fire counts as heat too, and a
Campfire or a
Stove doesn’t even have to be lit for the Skillet in your hand, as long as you’re standing right next to it.
While you’re cooking in your hand, press the attack button to toss the food up and flip it over in the pan. It doesn’t change how fast the food cooks, it’s only there for fun, but it does come with its own sizzle.
Placing It Down
Sneak and right-click to place the Skillet as a block, as a normal right-click is used for cooking instead. It needs a lit heat source right below it, like a Stove, Campfire, Fire, Lava or a
Magma Block, and it will sit on a little tray over a Campfire, Fire or Lava.
Right-click the placed Skillet with food and it will take the whole stack, then cook it one piece at a time and throw each one out of the side when it’s done. Right-clicking it with an empty hand will give you back whatever is left, and breaking it keeps all of its enchantments and durability.
A placed Skillet that gets flooded will drop its food and won’t cook again until the water is gone. Heat is able to come up through one
Hopper as well, but Hoppers can’t put food into the Skillet, so you’ll have to fill it by hand.
What It Cooks
Anything you can cook on a
Campfire can go in the Skillet, like raw meat and fish,
Potatoes,
Kelp,
Eggs for a
Fried Egg, and the mod’s own cuts of meat like
Raw Bacon. There’s a full list on the Stove page, as the two of them are able to cook all of the same foods.
| Skillet | Raw Meat or Fish | Compared to a Campfire |
|---|---|---|
| No Fire Aspect | 6 seconds | 5 times faster |
| Fire Aspect I | 4 seconds | 7.5 times faster |
| Fire Aspect II | 3 seconds | 10 times faster |
These times are for food that takes 30 seconds on a Campfire, which is nearly everything you’ll be able to cook in it. You can’t cook
Ham in it, though, as you’ll need a
Smoker for that, and the Cut Meat and Fish page has how much each of the cooked cuts will fill you up.
As a Weapon

The Skillet works as a weapon on top of being a pan, and it deals 8 attack damage with an attack speed of 0.9. That’s more than the 6 an
Iron Sword does, whereas the sword is able to swing almost twice as often, so the Skillet is better for big single hits.
| Stat | Skillet | Iron Sword |
|---|---|---|
| Attack Damage | 8 | 6 |
| Attack Speed | 0.9 | 1.6 |
| Extra Knockback | +1 | None |
| Durability | 250 | 250 |
Every hit will knock mobs back further than normal, a bit like having Knockback I on it already, and you’ll hear a loud clang when you hit something with a full swing. Each hit and each block you break with it will cost 1 durability, so it’s best not to use it to mine.
Enchantments
You’re able to put most sword enchantments on the Skillet, either at an
Enchanting Table or with books on an
Anvil. Sweeping Edge is the only one it can’t have, as the mod leaves it out, so you won’t be able to get it on the Skillet at all.
Fire Aspect is a good one to put on a Skillet first, as it will make both kinds of cooking faster as well as setting mobs on fire. The Skillet keeps its enchantments when you place it down too, so a Fire Aspect II Skillet will cook just as fast on a
Stove.
FAQ
Hold the Skillet in one hand and raw food in the other, stand next to a heat source like a
Campfire or Stove, and hold right-click. You can also sneak and right-click to place it on top of a lit heat source, then right-click it with a stack of food to cook it all.
You’ll need to sneak while you right-click, as a normal right-click tries to cook with it instead. Place it on top of a lit
Stove, Campfire, Lava or a
Magma Block, otherwise it won’t have any heat to cook with.
It won’t cook unless you’re within 1 block of a heat source, and the food has to go in your other hand, not the same one. Only food with a Campfire recipe will work, so things like
Ham won’t cook in it, and it won’t work while you’re underwater either.
It deals 8 damage, which is more than an
Iron Sword, and it knocks mobs back further, though it swings a lot slower. It only needs iron you’ll have early on, and with Fire Aspect it will set mobs on fire and cook faster at the same time.
