Dungeons Delight is an add-on for the Farmer’s Delight mod, and it’s all about cooking food from monsters and dungeons. Most of it is built around the
Monster Pot, which is like a
Cooking Pot, but it needs a
Monster Spawner or one of the mod’s own heat sources to cook on, instead of a fire.
You’ll be cooking the meat from Spiders, Silverfish, Ghasts and Zombies into meals, which give a set of new monster effects, and these are stronger versions of normal effects with a catch. It also adds Cleavers you’re able to throw, a cave plant and a crop that turns into a monster. This page is checked against the 1.20.1 Forge version, though the 1.21.1 NeoForge version is the same mod.
What It Adds
The first thing you’ll run into is
Stained Scrap, as breaking a
Monster Spawner will now drop 8 to 12 of it, and Fortune will add more. It’s the metal of the mod, so you’ll need it for the Monster Pot, the Dungeon Stove, the Stained tools and a set of scrap building blocks, which means every dungeon you find is worth breaking apart once you’re done with it.

After that, most of the mod is food made from mobs you’d normally ignore, like Silverfish, Spiders and Husks. These meals will give you the monster effects, and each one of them will replace a normal effect you already have, as the table shows.
| Effect | Replaces | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Decisive | Strength | Chance for a critical hit that deals 1.5x extra damage |
| Pouncing | Jump Boost | Climb blocks while sneaking, +5% speed per level |
| Exudation | Absorption | Absorption hearts take 1.25x damage but explode when hit |
| Tenacity | Comfort | Heals faster the closer you are to starving |
| Voracity | Nourishment | Only monster food can be eaten, attacking mobs feeds you |
| Burrow Gut | Haste | Only monster food can be eaten, breaking blocks feeds you |
On top of the food, there’s Cleavers, which are heavy Knives that you’re able to throw like a
Trident. The
Iron Cleaver hits for 5 in melee with an attack speed of 1, whereas an
Iron Knife hits for 3.5 at speed 2, so they’re slower but they hit harder. They’re also able to take three new enchantments, which are Ricochet, Serrated Strike and Life Grasp.
How It Works With Farmer’s Delight
The Monster Pot is crafted around a normal
Cooking Pot, and once it’s hot it works the same way a Cooking Pot does. It won’t cook on a
Stove or a
Campfire though, as it needs a
Monster Spawner, a
Dungeon Stove, a
Stained Lantern or Living Fire under it, and the Dungeon Stove is the easy option, as it heats a normal Cooking Pot as well.
Cleavers count as Knives as well, so they’ll work on the
Cutting Board, and they’ll get the same mob drops that a Knife does. These drops are where most of the ingredients come from, as a lot of mobs will only drop their meat when they’re killed with a Knife.
| Mob | Drop |
|---|---|
| Spider, Cave Spider | Spider Meat (Smoked if burning) |
| Silverfish | Silverfish Abdomen |
| Ghast | Ghast Tentacle |
| Slime | Slime Noodles (40%) |
| Zombie, Husk, Drowned | Rotten Tripe (40%) |
| Warden | Sculk Polyp |
Some of the food from Farmer’s Delight gets new uses as well, like the
Rotten Tomatoes, which are used for a dish called
Ghoulash, and the
Hamburger, which you’ll need for the Monster Burger. Eating a
Barbecue on a Stick will give you a minute of Strength, and a
Glow Berry Custard will give you a minute of Perception, though both can be turned off in the config.
Getting the Ingredients
You’ll find Wormroots in caves deep in the Overworld, where they spread over the walls, the floor and the ceiling, and there’s usually a
Wormouth hanging off one of the thicker stalks. The mod uses
Wormroot Tendrils as its wood, so you’ll be able to turn them into
Wormwood Planks and
Sticks, and these are used for the handles on the Stained tools.
It’s worth feeding a Wormouth before you leave, as it will spit something back out for any food you give it. If it’s a monster food it likes, you might get Stained Scrap or Spider Meat, whereas anything else gets you
Bones or
Spider Eyes.
Rotten Dungeons are small rooms that you’ll find underground, and they’re built around a
Rotten Spawner, with two chests and a couple of
Wild Rotbulbs inside. Breaking a Wild Rotbulb might give you a
Rotbulbling, which you’re able to plant on stone, moss or
Farmland, though it will only grow in a light level of 8 or lower.
The catch is that a fully grown Rotbulbling won’t drop anything when you harvest it, as a Monster Yam will burst out of it instead. The Monster Yam has 30 health and 6 armor, and it will keep calling Rotten Zombies to help it, but once you’ve killed it you’ll get 3 to 5
Rotbulbs and more Rotbulblings to plant again.
Ancient Eggs and Living Fire
To get
Ancient Eggs, you’ll need to craft
Embedded Eggs first, which are made from
Eggs,
Sculk Polyps and a block of
Sculk. Once you place them down they’ll slowly turn into a
Heap of Ancient Eggs, and this goes faster with Sculk or a spawner next to them. Each heap will break into 4 Ancient Eggs, and the Sculk Polyps come from mining Sculk with a Knife.
If you light a fire on top of a
Monster Spawner or a block of Stained Scrap, it will turn into Living Fire, which is able to heat the Monster Pot the same way a spawner does. You’ll want to be careful walking through Living Fire though, as it will drain 3 experience points from you every time it touches you.
Best Picks
The best food to bring with you will depend on what you’re doing. When you’re digging out a mine, it’s
Silverfish Fried Rice, as its Burrow Gut effect will fill your hunger back up while you break blocks. The
Snuffledog is one of the most filling foods in the mod, and the Monster Burger will fill your whole hunger bar, though you’ll need six other monster meals to make it.
| Food | Hunger | Saturation | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silverfish Fried Rice | 12 | 21.6 | Burrow Gut (3:00), Tenacity (4:00) |
| Snuffledog | 14 | 30.8 | Regeneration II (0:06) |
| The Monster Burger | 20 | 40 | Every monster effect, briefly |
| Ghoulash | 8 | 9.6 | Voracity (4:00) |
| Chloropasta | 12 | 19.2 | Comfort (2:00) |
| Slice of Sculk Tart | 3 | 1.8 | Speed (0:30), 15+ experience points |
For a weapon, the
Stained Knife is the one you’ll want to work toward. It builds up a charge with every hit, and once it’s full it will give you Ravenous Rush, and it sets enemies on fire for extra damage while they drop experience, which is handy in a mod that’s built around dungeons.
Versions
Dungeons Delight is only made for Forge and NeoForge, and both versions were updated on the same day. The numbers don’t match though, as the 1.21.1 version is on 1.5 whereas the 1.20.1 version is on 1.3, so don’t be thrown by the different numbers.
| Minecraft | Loader | Latest File | Updated |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.21.1 | NeoForge | 1.5.1 | 2026-09-13 |
| 1.20.1 | Forge | 1.3.1 | 2026-09-13 |
Both versions will need two other mods installed, which are Farmer’s Delight and Runic Lib, as Dungeons Delight won’t load without them. Runic Lib is where some of the effects come from, like Perception, so it’s worth grabbing it at the same time.
FAQ
They grow in caves in the Overworld, anywhere from down in the
Deepslate up to a height of Y 24, and they’ll cover the walls, the floor and the ceiling of the cave. If you’re having trouble finding them, it’s worth looking for a Wormouth, as they hang down from the roots and they’re a lot easier to spot.
It’s the rotted cage in the middle of a Rotten Dungeon, and it doesn’t actually spawn anything. Breaking it gives 8 to 12 Stained Scrap though, the same as a normal
Monster Spawner, so it’s always worth mining.
There isn’t one, as the mod is only made for Forge and NeoForge. So if you’re playing on Fabric, you won’t be able to use it, as there’s no Fabric file for any version of it, and it won’t run without Forge or NeoForge.
Dungeons Delight works well alongside the other cooking add-ons, and the Farmer’s Delight Add-ons page covers the rest of them. Most of them add food for a different part of the world, so you’ll rarely find two of them fighting over the same mob.
