The Warden Upgrade Smithing Template is a smithing template from the Deeper and Darker mod that upgrades Netherite armor and tools into Warden gear. You’ll find it in the chests of Ancient Cities, and it works just like the Netherite Upgrade does, only with a 
Reinforced Echo Shard as the material.
Each upgrade uses one template up, so you’ll need nine of them for every piece of Warden gear. You don’t have to find all nine, though, as one template can be copied with 
Diamonds and 
Sculk into two.
Obtaining
Every chest in an Ancient City has a 45% chance of holding a Warden Upgrade Smithing Template, so you’ll usually find one after opening two or three of them. The city has plenty of chests spread around its buildings, which means a single trip is often enough to bring home a couple.
It’s worth moving quietly while you loot, since opening Chests makes vibrations, and setting off a Sculk Shrieker enough times will summon the Warden. The Sculk Affinity effect stops every vibration you make, which makes looting a lot safer.
Ancient Temples
The hidden chest inside an Ancient Temple in the Otherside can also hold one, though it’s a rare find there, at around a 3% chance per chest. Ancient Cities are a far more reliable source, so the temple is more of a bonus if you’re exploring anyway.
Older guides give a 20% chance for Ancient City chests, which is the chance for a 
Warden Carapace instead. The template itself is a little under a 45% chance in every chest.
Copying the Template
You’re able to copy a template by crafting it with 7 Diamonds and 1 Sculk, which gives you back the template you put in and a second one. The template goes in the top middle, the Sculk in the center and the Diamonds fill the rest of the grid.
2Copying is usually quicker than finding more, as every copy only costs 7 Diamonds. Going from one template to the nine you’d need for everything takes 8 copies, which is 56 Diamonds and 8 Sculk.
Uses
Put the template in the first slot of a 
Smithing Table, a Netherite armor piece or tool in the second and a Reinforced Echo Shard in the third. The template and the shard are both used up, and any enchantments on the Netherite piece carry over.
It works on all four pieces of Warden Armor and all five Warden Tools. Each piece also needs a Reinforced Echo Shard, which takes 4 Warden Carapace, so the shards will run out long before the templates do.
