The Sculk Centipede is a neutral mob from the Deeper and Darker mod that crawls along the ground in the Deeplands of the Otherside. It’s a long, flat sculk creature that will leave you alone as long as you leave it alone, though attacking one is enough to bring any others close by after you as well.
It has 20 health, the same as a Zombie, and it’s slow until it’s angry, so it isn’t much of a threat on its own. The only thing it drops is
String, which means most players walk past them, unless they’re after the Sculk Slayer advancement.
Spawning
Sculk Centipedes only spawn in the Deeplands, where they turn up in groups of one to four. They share the biome with packs of Sculk Snappers and the odd Shattered, so you’ll usually see a few of each while you’re crossing it.

Like the rest of the Otherside’s mobs, they’ll keep spawning like any other mob, so you’ll find more of them each time you come back. You’ll need to get through the Otherside Portal in an Ancient City first, as the Deeplands is one of the Otherside’s biomes.
Behavior
A Sculk Centipede will wander around and keep an eye on any player who comes close, but it won’t attack unless it’s hurt first. It’s very low to the ground, so it can be easy to miss in the dark until you’re right on top of one.
When It Gets Angry
Once you’ve hit one, it’ll stay angry at you for around 15 to 30 seconds, and every Sculk Centipede nearby will get angry at the same time. They speed up while they’re chasing you, and each bite deals 3 damage on Normal, which can add up when there are four of them at once.

If you’d rather not fight a group, backing away until they lose interest works fine, as they calm down once their anger runs out. They won’t go after other sculk mobs either, so you can’t count on a Shattered or a Sculk Snapper to keep them busy.
Drops
The Sculk Centipede only has the one drop, and it doesn’t always give it. It’s nothing you can’t get much more easily from Spiders in the Overworld, so there’s little reason to farm them for it.
Each one drops up to one
String, and Looting adds up to one more per level. That makes the Centipede mostly something to avoid, unless one gets in your way while you’re exploring the Deeplands.
Sculk Slayer
You will need to kill one for the Sculk Slayer advancement, which asks for the Stalker, the Shriek Worm, the Warden and most of the Otherside’s other mobs. Weapons with Sculk Smite deal extra damage to it, though with only 20 health, any decent sword will do the job.

They’re two different mobs, as the Stalker is a tall, blind sculk mob with 200 health that comes out of fake Ancient Vases. The Sculk Centipede is a small, neutral mob that crawls around the Deeplands and only has 20 health.
