The Outer End is an expansion to the End Dimension, with new biomes, structures, mobs, armor, and more. One of the most desirable items from this mod is the Shulker Shield, as well as the Crystal Armor sets.

This is one of many of our Mod Wikis, here at Minecraft Guides. If you're interested in finding out about more of Minecraft's Best Mods, then check out our dedicated section! We allow you to sort by Forge, Fabric, Minecraft Version and Genre!

Biomes

Some life comes to the End with the Azure Forest, which holds trees made of Azure Stem, Petals, and Stamen. The Azure Stamen glows, and acts like a light source. Whereas the Azure Stem can be turned into some blue Planks, giving a reliable source of Wood within the End.

A more colorful biome is the Crystal Crag, where giant crystals protrude from the ground in some different colors, as well as archways made from Violet. Crystals can come in block form or be mined as Buds, and they’re made from Rose, Cobalt, and Mint.

Stalkers spawn within the Crystal Crag, and have some matching colors to their surroundings. They’re passive creatures that won’t fight the player, and can be bred using Chorus Fruit. If slain instead, they drop Stalker Meat, which can be cooked and eaten.

The third and final biome is the Primordial Pools. This area consists of dangerous pools made of Ancient Ice and are filled with a liquid called Brine. Brine is incredibly dangerous, as if the player stands in it, they’ll be inflicted with Blindness V, Weakness, Slowness, and Poison. It’s also next to impossible to escape Brine, as you’ll be sucked under, and slowly killed.

While Enderman are common throughout the Primordial Pools, another new creature provided by The Outer End can be found here, and it’s called the Sinker. These are hostile, and will overwhelm the player, as they’re able to attack using both melee and ranged, with their ranged attacks slowing the player.

Structures

Catacombs

A new structure can be found in the End, and it’s called the Catacombs. A small entrance to the structure can be seen protruding on the surface of the End islands. Though it can also be found by entering the /locate structure outer_end:catacombs command.

Inside is a dark corridor, and the Catacombs are made up of Violite Tiles, which also have Mossy variants. Some Chests can be found inside the Catacombs, containing materials like Iron, Gold, and Diamonds. Some Enchanted Diamond equipment can also be obtained.

The Entombed

The design of the Catacombs can vary greatly as they’re procedurally generated. Some variants might not have good loot, whereas some have hidden rooms that need to be mined through. A few Catacombs are even dangerous to explore, with them containing mobs like the Entombed, who deal high amounts of damage.

In the Catacombs, players can find the Smithing Templates for the Rose Crystal, Cobalt Crystal, and Mint Crystal Upgrades.

The  End Tower

Another structure can be found in the End Tower. It’s a large structure made up of both Purpur and Himmel blocks. You can manually find it by entering the /locate structure outer_end:end_tower command.

The design of the End Tower also varies, as it can have a different amount of floors each time one is found. On the top floor of the End Tower is multiple Chests containing loot like Diamonds, Enchanted Armor, Gold Ingots, and more. Shulkers often defend this area.

Below the End Tower is a basement that also acts as a Dungeon, containing mobs like the Himmelite and the Purpur Golem. Multiple rooms can be found in this labyrinth, with Spawners to be destroyed and Chests to be searched. Some of these rooms can even contain an End Portal, Sculk Sensors, and Shriekers.

Armor

Three new armor sets are included: the Rose Crystal, Cobalt Crystal, and Mint Crystal set. They have the same stats as Diamond Armor, but have more enchantability and also have a full set bonus when equipped.

Each set requires Diamond Armor, a Smithing Template, and the appropriate Crystal Shard. Rose Crystal Shards, Mint Crystal Shards, and Cobalt Crystal Shards can all be obtained from the Crystal Crag Biome, specifically by mining the blocks.

Whereas all three Smithing Templates are obtainable from Chest loot within the Catacombs. However, they can also be duplicated using Diamonds once one of the Smithing Templates is obtained, though this process if quite expensive.

The player will be provided with permanent Regeneration when wearing full Rose Crystal Armor. Wearing a complete set of Cobalt Crystal Armor will provide permanent Haste instead. Finally, wearing a complete set of Mint Crystal will provide both permanent Speed and Jump Boost.

Shulker Shield

Another highly sought-after item from the Outer End is the Shulker Shield. It can be crafted from 2 Shulker Shells, 6 Sinker Teeth, and the Levitation Core. When using the Shulker Shields, successfully blocked attacks will cause the target to levitate into the air.

Sinker Tooth can be obtained by killing the Sinker, found in the Primordial Pools biomes, where they can drop up to 2 each time. To get the Levitation Core, players must search the End Tower, as they are a semi-rare spawn and can be found in the basement, within the dungeon.
