Sculk Smite

Sculk Smite is a weapon enchantment from the Deeper and Darker mod that adds 2.5 damage per level against sculk mobs, up to 12.5 extra damage at Sculk Smite V. It works on the Warden, Phantoms and every hostile creature in the Otherside, like the Stalker and the Shattered, but does nothing to other mobs. A Netherite Sword with it hits the Warden for 20.5 damage, compared to 11 with Sharpness V. You'll find it at the Enchanting Table on Swords and Books, and from Librarian Villagers and loot Chests. It can't go on the same weapon as Sharpness.

Deeper And Darker Mod Wiki Updated 3 min read

Sculk Smite is a weapon enchantment from the Deeper and Darker mod that adds extra damage against sculk mobs, like the Warden and every hostile creature in the Otherside. It works the same way Smite does against the Undead, giving you 2.5 extra damage per level, up to Sculk Smite V.

It’s the enchantment to put on your main weapon before fighting the Warden or exploring the Otherside, as it hits far harder there than Sharpness does. You’re able to get it from an Enchanting Table like any normal enchantment, so you won’t need to find a rare book for it.

How It Works

Each level of Sculk Smite adds 2.5 damage to every hit against a sculk mob, so Sculk Smite V gives you 12.5 extra damage. Sharpness V only adds 3 damage, which means against these mobs Sculk Smite is the much bigger bonus, while it doesn’t do anything at all to other mobs.

Sculk Smite and Sharpness Bonus Damage
Level Sculk Smite Sharpness
I+2.5+1
II+5+1.5
III+7.5+2
IV+10+2.5
V+12.5+3

For example, a Netherite Sword with Sculk Smite V hits the Warden for 20.5 damage, whereas the same sword with Sharpness V only does 11. The Warden has 500 health, so without critical hits that’s around 25 hits instead of 46, which makes a big difference in a fight where every hit it lands on you is so dangerous.

Mobs It Affects

Sculk Smite works on every mob the mod counts as sculk, which covers the Warden, the Phantom and all of Deeper and Darker’s own creatures. Any other mob just takes the normal damage from your weapon, with no bonus at all.

On the 1.20.1 version of the mod, Phantoms only count as sculk while they’re in the Otherside, and they’re treated as normal Undead everywhere else. Every other mob on the list counts as sculk on both versions, so the enchantment works the same way against them.

Getting Sculk Smite

Sculk Smite can show up on a Sword at an Enchanting Table, and on a Book enchanted there as well. Enchanted Books with it can also turn up in loot Chests, from fishing, and in Librarian Villager trades, the same as Smite.

To put it on an Axe or a Mace, you’ll need to combine an Enchanted Book with the weapon at an Anvil, as the Enchanting Table only offers it on Swords. A tamed Sculk Snapper will also drop random Enchanted Books now and then while it’s near you, and Sculk Smite is one of the enchantments it can give.

Can’t Be Combined With Sharpness

Sculk Smite is in the same group as Sharpness, Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Density and Breach, so a weapon can only have one of these. It’s worth keeping a second Sword with Sharpness for everything that isn’t sculk.

FAQ

What does Sculk Smite do in Deeper and Darker?
›

Sculk Smite adds 2.5 damage per level to every hit on a sculk mob, so Sculk Smite V adds 12.5 damage. It affects the Warden, Phantoms and all of the mod’s Otherside mobs, like the Stalker and the Shattered.

Is Sculk Smite better than Sharpness?
›

Against sculk mobs, Sculk Smite V adds 12.5 damage whereas Sharpness V adds 3, so a Netherite Sword hits the Warden for 20.5 instead of 11. Against anything else it adds nothing, so a lot of players keep one Sword with each.

Can you have Sculk Smite and Sharpness on the same weapon?
›

These two can’t go on the same weapon, as Sculk Smite shares a group with Sharpness, Smite and Bane of Arthropods. An Anvil won’t let you combine them, so you’ll have to pick one per weapon.

How do you get Sculk Smite?
›

It can be found on Swords and Books at an Enchanting Table, and on Enchanted Books from loot Chests, fishing and Librarian Villagers. Use a book on an Anvil to put it on an Axe or a Mace.
