Ars Nouveau Wiki

Ars Nouveau is a Minecraft magic mod where you'll build your own spells out of glyphs, write them into a Spell Book and cast them with mana. Behind the spells there's a whole second half to the mod, Source, which you'll generate with Sourcelinks and store in Source Jars to power the Imbuement Chamber, the Enchanting Apparatus and the creatures that end up running your base, like Starbuncles and Drygmys. This wiki covers every machine, creature, ritual and spellcasting system, what it costs, how to set it up and what's worth doing first. It's an unofficial wiki written against Ars Nouveau 5.11 for NeoForge 1.21.1, and the pages point out where the 1.20.1 Forge version differs.

These are interactive, and they're built from the mod's own numbers. You're able to plan a spell and see its mana cost before you've unlocked a single glyph, check whether your Sourcelinks will keep up with your machines, or plan your armor and Threads to see where your max mana will end up.

Source & Machines

9 pages

Source is what everything in Ars Nouveau runs on, so this is the section you'll want to read first. It covers getting Source into jars and moving it around with Relays, then the machines that use the most of it, the Imbuement Chamber and the Enchanting Apparatus, along with the Source Gems, Essences, enchantments, Magebloom and Potions that go through them.

Source

Source

Source is the magical power used to run almost every machine in Ars Nouveau, and it's kept in Source Jars placed near whatever needs it. Source is made by Sourcelinks, of which there's five different kinds, and each one turns something you'll usually have plenty of into Source,…

Imbuement Chamber

Imbuement Chamber

The Imbuement Chamber is a block in Ars Nouveau that turns Lapis Lazuli and Amethyst Shards into Source Gems. Nearly every recipe in the mod needs Source Gems at some point, including the Sourcelinks that make Source in the first place. So the Imbuement Chamber tends to be…

Enchanting Apparatus

Enchanting Apparatus

The Enchanting Apparatus is a block in Ars Nouveau that's used to craft most of the mod's tools, charms, armor and Threads. It's a bit like a crafting table, but instead of a grid, the ingredients are placed on Arcane Pedestals around it, and the main item goes…

Magebloom

Magebloom

Magebloom is a magical flower in Ars Nouveau that's grown as a crop, and it's the only way to get Magebloom Fiber. Magebloom Fiber is needed for all of the mage armor, Blank Parchment, Threads and a lot of other recipes in the mod, so most players end…

Dominion Wand

Dominion Wand

The Dominion Wand is a tool from Ars Nouveau that's used for linking blocks and creatures together, for example connecting a Source Jar to a Source Relay, or telling a Starbuncle which Chest to take items from. You'll need one for most of the automation in the mod,…

Essences

Essences

Essences are crafting ingredients in Ars Nouveau that go into glyphs, enchantments, Threads and a lot of the mod's gear. There are seven of them, one for each school of magic, which are Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Abjuration, Conjuration and Manipulation.

Potions

Potions

Ars Nouveau adds six new potions, which are brewed in a normal Brewing Stand from an Awkward Potion and one of the mod's plants or fruits. Two of them help with spellcasting, Mana Regeneration and Spell Damage, and the other four come from the fruit that grows on…

Source Gems and Experience Gems

Source Gems and Experience Gems

Source Gems are the crafting material you'll use more than anything else in Ars Nouveau, and they're made by filling a piece of Lapis Lazuli or an Amethyst Shard with Source. Almost every block in the mod needs a few of them, from the Arcane Pedestal and Sourcestone…

Enchantments

Enchantments

The Enchanting Apparatus in Ars Nouveau is able to put most vanilla enchantments onto your gear, along with three of the mod's own, Mana Boost, Mana Regen and Reactive. It costs Source and a few items instead of experience levels, and you get to pick exactly which enchantment…

Creatures

Most of the mod's creatures are workers. Once you've tamed one and turned it into a Charm it'll do a job for you, whether that's a Starbuncle moving items between chests, a Drygmy collecting mob drops without killing anything or a Bookwyrm running your Storage Lectern.
