The Wixie is a small creature in Ars Nouveau that lives in a cauldron and crafts items for you automatically, using the ingredients from the chests you’ve linked to it. It’s also able to brew potions on its own, which makes it the main way of automating potions in the mod, especially if you’re running an
Alchemical Sourcelink.
You won’t find Wixies out in the world though, as the
Wixie Token comes from a Witch. You’ll need the
Glyph of Dispel for it, and the
Enchanting Apparatus to turn the token into a
Wixie Charm, so it’s something you’ll usually get a little later on.
Getting a Wixie Token
To get a
Wixie Token, you’ll need to cast a spell with the
Dispel glyph on a Witch once it’s down to half health or less. The Witch disappears straight away and drops a Wixie Token, so it’s worth hitting it a couple of times first and then casting something simple like Projectile and Dispel from a distance.
Witches spawn in Swamp Huts and in the dark like other monsters, and they also show up during raids. Keep in mind that the Witch will still be drinking potions and throwing them at you while you get its health down, so it’s worth having a bit of food or a few Healing potions with you.
Crafting the Wixie Charm
The
Wixie Charm is made in the
Enchanting Apparatus, with the
Wixie Token in the middle and four items on the Arcane Pedestals around it. You’ll need any sapling, like an
Oak Sapling, along with an
Emerald, a
Crafting Table and a
Brewing Stand, and the recipe doesn’t cost any Source.
Setting Up the Wixie Cauldron
To place your Wixie, use the
Wixie Charm on a normal
Cauldron, which turns it into a
Wixie Cauldron, and the Wixie appears a few seconds later. Each craft costs 50 Source, which it takes from a
Source Jar within 6 blocks of the cauldron, so you’ll want a jar close by with a way of keeping it topped up.
Next, you’ll need to link the chests that hold your ingredients, by using the
Dominion Wand on a
Chest and then on the Wixie Cauldron. You’re able to link as many as you like, and doing the same thing again removes that chest, whereas sneaking and using the wand on the cauldron clears all of them.
On 1.20.1, a Wixie Cauldron with no linked chests uses any container within 6 blocks of it, so the Dominion Wand is only needed if you’d like to limit it to certain chests. On 1.21.1 it only uses the chests you’ve linked, so a Wixie won’t craft anything until you’ve linked at least one.
Crafting Items with a Wixie
To tell the Wixie what to make, use the item you’d like on the
Wixie Cauldron, and it’ll work out the recipe from what’s in the linked chests. It doesn’t need the exact items either, so if you ask it for Sticks, it’ll use whatever kind of planks you have, and the finished items are put back into the chests.
A Wixie is also able to craft more than one thing, by placing
Arcane Pedestals right next to the cauldron with an item on each one. It goes through them one at a time, taking turns between each item, and powering one of the pedestals with redstone stops it from crafting that item. A redstone signal on the cauldron itself stops the Wixie completely.

Brewing Potions with a Wixie
For potions, place an empty
Potion Jar near the cauldron, and then use the potion you’d like it to make on the
Wixie Cauldron, like an Awkward Potion. The Wixie adds the water itself, takes any base potion it needs from nearby Potion Jars and gets the rest of the ingredients, like
Nether Wart, from the linked chests.
Each potion it brews puts three doses into a nearby Potion Jar, so it’s able to keep a jar stocked for as long as it has the ingredients and Source. If you’re running more than one Wixie, sneaking and using the
Dominion Wand on a Potion Jar locks it, so Wixies only ever fill it with the potion that’s already in it.
This is also how most players feed an
Alchemical Sourcelink, as it makes Source from potions in the Potion Jars next to it. A
Wixie Hat made from eight
Magebloom Fiber and a
Gold Ingot lets a Starbuncle carry potions between jars, so it’s able to move them from the Wixie over to the Sourcelink for you.
The Wixie Familiar
A Wixie can be turned into a familiar with the
Ritual of Binding, and as a familiar it makes the potions you drink last longer. It also puts harmful potion effects on enemies while you’re fighting, and if you give it a basic potion ingredient, like a
Golden Carrot, it gives you that potion’s effect straight away.
There’s also a Thread named
The Wixie, which makes potions last 15% longer for each level of the slot it’s in. The Threads page goes through how the slots work on mage armor.
