The Wilden Chimera is the boss of Ars Nouveau, and it doesn’t spawn in the world on its own, as it has to be summoned with a ritual. It has 1,000 health, which is split into four phases, and every time it reaches a new phase it grows another part, such as wings, spikes or horns, which gives it a new attack to use against you.

Defeating the Wilden Chimera is the only way to get a
Wilden Tribute, and you’ll need one of those for the
Archmage Spell Book, so it’s something every player has to fight eventually. The mod itself suggests going in with Tier 2 spells and equipment, and it’s a lot harder than most people expect the first time.
Summoning the Wilden Chimera
The Wilden Chimera is summoned using the
Summon Wilden ritual on a
Ritual Brazier. The ritual tablet is crafted from a
Vexing Archwood Log, a
Block of Lapis Lazuli and three Wilden drops, which can be any mix of
Wilden Horns,
Wilden Spikes and
Wilden Wings.
Once the tablet is on the Ritual Brazier, you’ll need to right click it with one Wilden Horn, one Wilden Spike and one Wilden Wing before starting the ritual. Without all three of those, the ritual will only summon a few random Wilden over about 15 seconds, which can be useful for farming their drops, but it won’t summon the boss.

With all three added, the Wilden Chimera appears after around 8 seconds, and it destroys every block in an 11 by 11 area around the Ritual Brazier, from one block above it up to five blocks high. So you’ll want to do this somewhere open, well away from your base, and preferably on flat ground where you have room to move around.
Stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 1,000 |
| Armor | 6 |
| Attack Damage | 8 |
| Knockback Resistance | 60% |
| Follow Range | 100 blocks |
| Experience | 75 |
The Wilden Chimera can’t be hurt by lava, drowning, cacti, Sweet Berry Bushes or suffocating in a wall, and it only takes half damage from freezing. It also gets Speed, Resistance, Fire Resistance and Regeneration while it’s standing in lava, so fighting it anywhere near lava is a bad idea.
Like most bosses it has a boss bar, and while you’re fighting it the screen darkens and fog closes in around you, which makes it harder to see it coming. None of the Wilden it summons are able to hurt it, so you won’t be able to trick them into fighting each other.
Phases
Every 250 health the Wilden Chimera moves into its next phase, which happens three times during the fight. While it’s changing phase it can’t be damaged for about 3 seconds, and when it finishes, it launches any player within 5 blocks into the air before knocking them away, so it’s best to back off as soon as you see it start.
Each phase change also gives it one of three random upgrades, which are wings, spikes or horns, and by the last phase it’ll have all three of them. It starts the fight with none, so the first quarter of its health is usually the easiest part, with only melee attacks and its summons to worry about.

| Upgrade | New attack |
|---|---|
| Wings | Flies up and dives onto you, causing an explosion where it lands |
| Spikes | Curls into a ball, becomes immune to damage and fires spikes around it |
| Horns | Charges at you, breaking blocks in its way |
The Wilden Chimera also gets faster at using its attacks as the fight goes on, since the time between them gets shorter with every phase. By the final phase it’s diving, charging and summoning a lot more often than it was at the start.
Attacks
The dive attack is the one that does the most damage. The Wilden Chimera flies up above you, and then drops straight down onto where you’re standing, causing an explosion when it lands, and if it also has spikes, it fires those out at the same time. You’ll want to keep moving while it’s flying, as standing still is what gets you hit.
When it curls up into a ball with its spikes out, the Wilden Chimera can’t be hurt at all, and anything that hits it from within 3 blocks takes 6 damage back. So there’s no point attacking it during this, and it’s better to step back and wait for it to uncurl, especially since it’ll be firing spikes in every direction.
The horn charge breaks through the blocks in front of it, so hiding behind a wall or pillar doesn’t work once it has horns. It also summons wolves, and once it has its upgrades it starts summoning Wilden Stalkers, Wilden Hunters and Wilden Defenders too, depending on which parts it has.
Tips for the Fight
The biggest thing to avoid is standing somewhere it can’t reach, like on top of a pillar. Once the Wilden Chimera is past its first phase, if it can’t get to you for around 10 seconds, it starts raging. It howls, resets all of its attacks, gains Regeneration and Speed, and then launches you up before pulling you back down, which also removes Slow Falling if you had it.
You’ll want to bring a
Shield for its melee hits, and also something that’s able to deal damage from further away, since most of its attacks are a lot easier to dodge when you’re not stood right next to it. A lot of players use an
Enchanter’s Bow for this, and if you’ve got a spell that slows it down, that gives you a bit more time to move out of the way when it dives.
It’s also best to fight it out in the open, because the explosions and the charging will wreck anything that’s built close by. The ritual clears a space around the
Ritual Brazier anyway, so most of the time you can just stay around there, and use the area it’s already cleared for you.
Drops
The Wilden Chimera always drops one
Wilden Tribute, along with 75 experience. The Wilden Tribute is mainly needed for the
Archmage Spell Book, which is the highest tier of spell book in Ars Nouveau and is crafted from the
Mage’s Spell Book with three
Ender Pearls, two
Emeralds, a
Totem of Undying, a
Nether Star and the Wilden Tribute.
The Wilden Tribute is also used for the
Focus of Summoning in the
Enchanting Apparatus, along with the highest level of the Reactive enchantment. Since you only get one per fight, and there’s more than one thing that needs it, you’ll probably end up fighting the Wilden Chimera more than once.
