The
Storage Lectern is a block in Ars Nouveau that’s used as a storage system, as it shows the items from all of your connected chests in one screen. From the Storage Lectern you’re able to search for items and take them out, put things away and even craft, so once you’ve got a lot of chests it saves you from having to open each one to find something.
The Storage Lectern needs Bookwyrms to be able to connect to chests, and each Bookwyrm you add to it lets it connect to more of them. Ars Nouveau also has its own storage blocks to go with it, the
Repository and the
Repository Catalog, which are worth using if you’re planning on having a lot of storage in one place.
Crafting the Storage Lectern
The
Storage Lectern is made in the
Enchanting Apparatus, by putting a normal
Lectern in the middle with four
Chests on the Arcane Pedestals around it. The recipe doesn’t use any Source, so it’s something you’re able to make as soon as you’ve got the Enchanting Apparatus running.
However, a Storage Lectern isn’t able to connect to anything on its own. Every
Bookwyrm Charm you use on it adds a Bookwyrm, and each Bookwyrm lets it connect to 8 more containers, so you’ll want at least one before you start linking chests. The Bookwyrm page goes through getting the charms from the
Ritual of Awakening.
Connecting Chests
Chests and other containers are connected using the
Dominion Wand, by clicking the container first and then the
Storage Lectern. The container has to be within 30 blocks of the Storage Lectern, and doing the same thing again with a container that’s already connected removes it. Pretty much anything that holds items is able to be connected, including Barrels, Shulker Boxes and containers from other mods.
Once they’re connected, opening the Storage Lectern shows everything inside all of them at once, and it has a search bar and sorting options at the top. There’s also a crafting grid in the screen, which is able to use items from any of the connected chests, so you won’t need a separate crafting table next to it.

Any connected container that was given a name in an
Anvil gets its own tab along the side, which only shows the items in the containers with that name. Naming a few chests “Ores” or “Food” is an easy way of keeping things organized, and more than one container can share the same name, so they all show up together under the one tab.
Putting Items Away
Anything you put into the
Storage Lectern is sent out to one of the connected containers, and you’ll usually see a Bookwyrm fly over to it with the item. For emptying your inventory quickly, any container placed right next to the Storage Lectern gets emptied into the storage a stack at a time, so a
Chest beside it works well as a place to dump everything you bring back.
If you’d rather keep a normal chest next to it, powering the Storage Lectern with redstone stops it from pulling items out. A
Hopper placed directly underneath it is also left alone, which means you’re able to pull items out of your storage with a Hopper without it all being sent straight back in.
Repositories and the Repository Catalog
A
Repository is a storage block from Ars Nouveau that holds as much as a double chest, and it’s crafted from four Archwood Logs and four
Gold Nuggets. If you name one in an
Anvil, it keeps the name when it’s broken and picked up, which makes it easy to move your named tabs around without having to rename everything.
The
Repository Catalog is made by crafting a Repository with a
Magebloom Fiber, and it connects to every Repository that’s touching it, along with any Repository touching those, so you’re able to build a whole wall of them. The whole wall then only needs to be connected to the
Storage Lectern once, through the Repository Catalog, which means it only uses up one of your Bookwyrm slots instead of one for every Repository.
Repositories can also be filtered by putting an
Item Frame on them with an item inside, and the Repository Catalog will send that item to the matching Repository first. The mod recommends using a Repository Catalog over other large storage blocks for the Storage Lectern, as it’s a lot faster when there’s a lot of items being moved around.
The
Repository Catalog was added in the 1.21.1 version of Ars Nouveau, so on 1.20.1 you’ll only have the
Repository, and each one has to be connected to the
Storage Lectern on its own. Everything else on this page works the same on both versions.
Linking Storage Lecterns Together
If your storage is spread across a big base, you’re able to link more than one
Storage Lectern together, so they all show the same items. To do this, use the
Dominion Wand on the new Storage Lectern first and then on the main one, as long as they’re within 30 blocks of each other, and the new one will use everything connected to the main Storage Lectern.
Frequently Asked Questions
A
Storage Lectern needs at least one Bookwyrm, and each one only adds 8 containers. You’ll need to use a
Bookwyrm Charm on it first, and then connect chests within 30 blocks using the
Dominion Wand, clicking the chest first.
There’s no set limit, as each Bookwyrm adds another 8 containers. Using a
Repository Catalog helps a lot here, since a whole wall of Repositories only counts as one connection.
Name a container in an
Anvil before placing it, and once it’s connected to the
Storage Lectern it gets its own tab with that name. Containers with the same name are grouped into the same tab.
Yes, the
Storage Lectern has a crafting grid built in, and it’s able to use items straight from any of the connected containers.
