The
Dominion Wand is a tool from Ars Nouveau that’s used for linking blocks and creatures together, for example connecting a
Source Jar to a
Source Relay, or telling a Starbuncle which
Chest to take items from. You’ll need one for most of the automation in the mod, and it’s crafted in the
Enchanting Apparatus.
You use it by clicking on one thing and then on the thing you’d like it connected to. Usually the first thing you click is where the Source or items are coming from, and the second thing is where they end up, so if something isn’t working, it’s often because they were clicked the wrong way round.
Crafting the Dominion Wand
The
Dominion Wand is made in the
Enchanting Apparatus, with a
Stick in the middle and two
Source Gems and a
Gold Ingot on the Arcane Pedestals around it. The recipe doesn’t cost any Source, so it’s something you’re able to make as soon as the Enchanting Apparatus is set up.
How the Dominion Wand Works
To link two things, use the
Dominion Wand on the first block or creature, and it gets stored in the wand until you use it on the second one. While there’s something stored, holding the wand also highlights everything it’s already linked to, so you’re able to see what’s connected before you add anything else.
Using the wand while sneaking clears the connections on whatever you click, so if a
Source Relay or a Starbuncle is doing something you didn’t mean it to, that’s the quickest way to reset it. You’ll also get a message in chat each time the wand stores or links something, so it’s easy to tell whether it worked.
There’s also a Strict Mode, which you’re able to switch to from the wand’s radial menu. In Strict Mode, the wand remembers which side of a block you clicked, which is mostly used for Starbuncles, for example taking items out of the bottom of a
Furnace and putting fuel in the side.
What the Dominion Wand Is Used For
Here’s everything the
Dominion Wand works on, along with which order to click things in. A few of the blocks don’t link to anything, and using the wand on them just switches a setting on or off instead.

| Used on | How to link it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Moves Source between jars and relays, up to 30 blocks | ||
| Starbuncle then | Sets which containers a Starbuncle moves items between | |
| Starbuncle then bed | Gives the Starbuncle somewhere to rest when it has nothing to do | |
| Chest then lectern | Connects a container to the lectern, within 30 blocks | |
| Golem then block | Sets its home, and it works within 10 blocks of it | |
| Weald Walker | Weald Walker then block | Sets the spot it guards |
| Chest then cauldron | Limits the Wixie to only using the containers you pick | |
| Sneak and use on the jar | Locks the jar, so Wixies only fill it with the potion it already holds | |
| Turret then target block | Aims the turret at that block | |
| Use on the turret | Locks the timer so it can’t be changed | |
| Moves the ritual’s effect to the relay, within 15 blocks | ||
| Use on the table | Turns off pulling items from nearby Chests | |
| Use on the henge | Switches it to only use mobs in Containment Jars | |
| Warp Portal | Use on the portal | Switches the portal to its other texture |
Starbuncles and the Dominion Wand
You’ll probably use the
Dominion Wand on Starbuncles more than anything else, and each one can be linked to as many containers as you want. Clicking the Starbuncle first and then a
Chest sets a Chest to put items into, whereas clicking the Chest first and then the Starbuncle sets a Chest to take items from.
If you look at a Starbuncle, it tells you how many containers it’s taking from and putting into, so it’s easy to check that you’ve linked it the right way round. The Starbuncle page goes through a few setups, including using Item Scrolls to filter what each one carries.
Linking Source Relays
Source Relays work the same way, so you’ll click the
Source Jar you’re taking from first and then the
Source Relay. To send it on to another relay or into a jar, click the relay first and then where you’d like the Source to go, which works the same way whether it’s going to a
Source Jar or another relay.
Relays only reach up to 30 blocks, so for longer distances you’ll need to chain a few of them together. The Source page covers the different kinds of relays, along with how much Source each one is able to move.

Click the first thing, then the second thing you’d like it linked to. The first thing is usually where items or Source come from, and the second is where they go.
Sneak and use the
Dominion Wand on the block or creature, and its connections are cleared. It works on
Source Relays, Starbuncles and most other things the wand links.
Strict Mode makes the wand remember which side of a block you click, which lets Starbuncles take from or put into a specific side, like the bottom of a
Furnace. It’s switched on from the wand’s radial menu.
