Addons

Ars Nouveau has a lot of addons, and they add everything from new glyphs and elemental armor to structures, Create machines and links to other mods like Applied Energistics 2 and Occultism, with most of them made for both 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Ars Elemental is the biggest of them, with its Sirens, elemental foci and armor, while Ars Additions adds the Tablet of Locate Structure along with a few other handy items. Others are able to tie the mod into Create or into other magic and tech mods, and several just add more glyphs and gear to use. As a few of them only work on one version, it's worth checking which versions each one supports before adding it to your modpack.

Ars Nouveau has a lot of addons, and they add everything from new glyphs and elemental armor to structures, Create machines and links to other mods like Applied Energistics 2 and Occultism. Most of them are made for both 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, although a few only work on one version.

A lot of players end up here looking for one item in particular, like the Tablet of Locate Structure or the Sirens, and don’t realise it comes from an addon rather than Ars Nouveau itself. So below you’ll find what the popular ones add, and which version of Minecraft you’ll need for each of them.

Ars Elemental

Ars Elemental is the biggest addon, and it’s built around the four elemental schools of magic, which are Fire, Water, Earth and Air. It adds spell foci like the Lesser Focus of Fire, which make one school stronger and give its glyphs extra effects, along with elemental mage armor and a set of new glyphs, such as Homing Projectile, Arc Projectile, Charm and Life Link.

It also adds the Siren, a sea creature that lives in warm oceans near coral and often follows boats. Giving a wild Siren a Sea Pickle makes it jump and leave a few Siren Tokens behind, which are made into a Siren Charm. Using the charm on Prismarine makes a Siren Shrine, which slowly produces fishing loot for some Source, and it makes more when there are lots of different fish and plants nearby.

Ars Elemental also adds a fifth kind of Archwood, the Flashing Archwood, which has gold leaves and grows Flashpine. It brews into a Potion of Static Charge that brings down lightning on the target when it runs out, and it has its own Weald Walker that throws enemies up into the air.

Ars Additions

Ars Additions adds a few new structures and a lot of smaller quality of life features. Nexus Towers are wizard towers with a Warp Nexus inside, which holds up to nine Warp Scrolls and teleports you to any of them, even across dimensions. Arcane Libraries are rare structures in Archwood Forests with Wilden inside, and Ruined Warp Portals come with a chest holding an Explorer’s Warp Scroll.

It also adds the Ender Source Jar, which works like an Ender Chest for Source, so every Ender Source Jar you place shares the same Source. There’s also a Warp Index for reaching your Storage Lectern from anywhere, a Wixie version of the Enchanting Apparatus that automates it, and three new glyphs called Retaliate, Mark and Recall.

Tablet of Locate Structure

The Tablet of Locate Structure is a ritual from Ars Additions, and it finds the nearest structure of whatever kind you ask for. You’ll need a Vexing Archwood Log, a Compass, a Source Gem and a Wayfinder to craft it, and the Wayfinder itself is just four Gold Ingots around an Amethyst Shard.

It goes on a Ritual Brazier like any other ritual, but before you start it you’ll want to add the item for the structure you’re after, which are listed below. Once it’s done, a Wayfinder pops out that points towards that structure like a Lodestone Compass does, and hovering over it tells you how far away it is. If it can’t find anything, or you used the wrong item, you just get everything back.

Structure Item to add
Ancient CityDeepslate Bricks
Arcane LibraryMage’s Spell Book
Bastion RemnantPolished Blackstone Bricks
Desert PyramidSandstone
End CityPurpur Block
Nether FortressNether Brick
IglooIce
Jungle PyramidMossy Cobblestone
Ocean MonumentAny fish
Pillager OutpostEmerald
Stronghold12 Eyes of Ender
Trail RuinsTerracotta
Trial ChambersOminous Bottle
Wilden DenSource Gem
Woodland MansionA Brown Mushroom and a Red Mushroom

The Stronghold is the most expensive one to find, as it needs 12 Eyes of Ender, which is enough to fill the End Portal once you get there. The 1.20.1 version of Ars Additions has a shorter list, without the Stronghold, the Woodland Mansion or Trial Chambers, which don’t exist in 1.20.1 anyway.

Addons for Create

Ars Creo lets Ars Nouveau work with Create contraptions. It adds the Starbuncle Wheel, which makes Stress Units from a Starbuncle running inside it, and it lets Spell Turrets and Source Jars be part of moving contraptions, so a turret on a drill or a train is able to cast spells as it moves.

Ars Technica builds on that with glyphs that do Create’s processing jobs on the spot, like Pack, Carve and Polish, along with a new armor set and a Source Motor that turns Source into rotational power. It needs Ars Elemental on 1.20.1, but it’s optional on 1.21.1.

Addons for Other Mods

Ars Énergistique connects Ars Nouveau to Applied Energistics 2, so Source is able to be stored in an ME network and turned into power for it. Ars Ocultas does the same for Occultism, letting spirits work from inside a Containment Jar, where they pull in and process items around them.

StarbuncleMania gives Starbuncles new jobs, like carrying fluids, energy and Mekanism gases, and it adds a liquid form of Source that works with tanks from other mods. Reliquified Ars Nouveau adds relics from the Relics mod that are built around Ars Nouveau’s mechanics, and they’re found in structures from Ars Nouveau and its addons.

More Glyphs and Gear

Too Many Glyphs adds a lot of extra glyphs, such as filters that stop a spell from hitting the wrong target, but it only goes up to 1.20.1. On 1.21.1, Adam’s Ars Plus adds stronger versions of augments like AOE II and Extend Time II, along with a Spell Efficiency glyph that makes spells cheaper.

For late game gear, All The Arcanist Gear adds mage armor made from Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtanium, and Ars Elemancy adds armor that mixes two or all four of Ars Elemental’s schools. Ars Nouveau’s Flavors & Delight adds over 50 foods made from Ars Nouveau ingredients in the style of Farmer’s Delight.

›

Ars Elemental is the most downloaded, and it adds the most to spellcasting. Ars Additions is also worth having for the Tablet of Locate Structure and the Ender Source Jar.

How do you use the Tablet of Locate Structure?
›

Place it on a Ritual Brazier, add the item for the structure you want, like 12 Eyes of Ender for a Stronghold, and start the ritual. It drops a Wayfinder that points to the nearest one.

How do you get a Siren in Ars Elemental?

Give a wild Siren a Sea Pickle to get Siren Tokens, then craft them into a Siren Charm. Sirens live in warm oceans near coral.

Do Ars Nouveau addons work on 1.21.1?

Most of them do, including Ars Elemental, Ars Additions and Ars Creo. Too Many Glyphs and Tome of Blood: Rebirth stop at 1.20.1.
