Flight

There are a few different ways to fly in Ars Nouveau, and they work quite differently from each other, as the Tablet of Flight gives you proper creative flight around your base while the Glyph of Glide and the Gliding Thread let you glide like you're wearing an Elytra. The Tablet of Flight is used on a Ritual Brazier and only works within 60 blocks of it, so it's mostly for building, whereas Glide needs the Archmage Spell Book and can be used anywhere. The Belt of Levitation is able to lift you off the ground while you hold sneak, and spells like Leap, Launch and Blink can be used to get around too, which means you'll usually want more than one of these.

There are a few different ways to fly in Ars Nouveau, and they work quite differently. The Tablet of Flight gives you proper creative flight around your base, the Glyph of Glide and the Gliding Thread let you glide like you’re wearing an Elytra, and the Belt of Levitation lifts you up off the ground while you hold sneak.

The Tablet of Flight only works within 60 blocks of its Ritual Brazier, so it’s mostly for building and moving around your base. Out exploring you’ll want Glide or the Belt of Levitation instead, and before you’ve got either of those, a simple Leap spell gets you across gaps and up hills a lot quicker than walking.

Tablet of Flight

The Tablet of Flight is crafted from a Vexing Archwood Log, three Wilden Wings, two Diamonds and an Ender Pearl. It’s placed on a Ritual Brazier like any other ritual, and it keeps running until you stop it, so you only need to set it up once.

While it’s running, any player who jumps within 60 blocks of the brazier gets the Flight effect, which lets you fly the same way as in Creative Mode for one minute. Jumping again while you’re in range keeps topping it up, and each time it gives or refreshes the effect it takes 200 Source from a Source Jar nearby.

That makes it great for building, as you’re able to fly anywhere within 60 blocks of your base for as long as there’s Source in the jars. If you fly further than 60 blocks away, it stops being refreshed, and when the minute is up you’ll fall, so it’s worth staying close to the ground near the edge.

Glide Glyph and the Gliding Thread

The Glyph of Glide is a tier 3 Air glyph that lets you glide as if you were wearing an Elytra, without needing one in your chest slot. A spell of Self and Glide lasts for three minutes, and each Extend Time you add makes it last two minutes longer, so it’s a good spell to cast before jumping off a cliff.

If you’d rather not keep casting it, the Gliding Thread does the same thing permanently while you’re wearing the armor it’s in. However, it only works in a level 3 Thread slot, so you’ll need a fully upgraded piece of mage armor for it. Every set has at least one piece with a level 3 slot once it’s fully upgraded, so it’s usually the chest or leggings you’ll put it in.

Belt of Levitation

The Belt of Levitation is worn in a belt slot, and it’s made in the Enchanting Apparatus from a Mundane Belt with four Gold Ingots, three Feathers and an Air Essence on the pedestals. The Mundane Belt itself is crafted from three Leather and a Source Gem.

To use it, jump and then hold sneak while you’re in the air. If you’re within 5 blocks of the ground, it lifts you up with Levitation, which is great for climbing mountains and getting up tall builds, and if you’re higher than that it gives you Slow Falling instead. You also won’t take any fall damage while you’re holding sneak.

Other Ways to Get Around

A few other glyphs are handy for moving around quickly, even though they aren’t flight. The Glyph of Leap throws you in the direction you’re looking, which is great for crossing gaps, and the Glyph of Launch shoots you straight up into the air. Putting Amplify after either one throws you a lot further, although it also costs a bit more mana.

Then for the landing, the Glyph of Slowfall gives you Slow Falling, and the Glyph of Bounce makes you bounce back up when you land. Self and Leap is a common way of travelling fast in the early game, with Slowfall added once you’ve got a Mage’s Spell Book, and Glide once you’ve got an Archmage Spell Book.
