Frequently asked questions
What is a slime chunk?
About one in ten chunks is a slime chunk. In Java Edition, slimes can spawn in them below Y 40 at any light level, which is what makes slime farms work.
How do I use the slime chunk finder?
Enter your seed and zoom in: slime chunks are the green squares. Turn on the grid to see chunk borders, and press F3 + G in game to show chunk borders there too.
Are slime chunks the same on Bedrock?
No. Bedrock slime chunks do not depend on the seed at all and follow a different pattern, so this map shows Java Edition slime chunks.
Do slimes spawn anywhere else?
Yes, in swamps and mangrove swamps at night, depending on the moon phase. Slime chunks are the reliable place for a farm.
