Frequently asked questions
How do I find a Nether fortress?
Enter your seed and the map opens in the Nether and jumps to the nearest fortress. The coordinates are Nether coordinates, so use them after going through a portal.
How do I get there from the Overworld?
Nether distances are 8 times shorter. Our Nether Portal Calculator converts coordinates so you can build a portal close to the fortress.
Why are there bastions where I expected a fortress?
Fortresses and bastions share the same spots in the Nether: each region gets one or the other, and bastions are a bit more common. Turn on bastions under Layers to see both.
Are these positions checked?
Yes. We compared the map with Mojang's own server and every Nether fortress and bastion matched exactly.
