Wrought Helm

Mowzie's Mobs is a Minecraft mob mod built around handcrafted encounter design, adding ten distinct creatures and four boss fights spread across specific biomes and structures. Every mob serves a purpose in the world: the Foliaath ambushes jungle undergrowth, the Grottol rewards careful caving with diamonds, and the Naga patrols mountain coastlines as a flying threat. The four bosses form a natural difficulty chain, starting with the iron-accessible Ferrous Wroughtnaut underground and progressing through the Frostmaw, Tongbi the Sculptor, and Umvuthi the Sunbird. Each boss drops permanent, unbreakable weapons or grants abilities that redefine how you play the rest of the game. The Earthrend Gauntlet, Ice Crystal, and Sun's Blessing replace conventional gear for players who complete the full encounter chain, giving late-game survival a satisfying second layer.

The Wrought Helm is a battered iron helmet stripped from the Ferrous Wroughtnaut, an armored colossus that sleeps inside the sealed Wrought Chamber underground. It provides iron-tier defense alongside 10% knockback resistance, and under default mod settings it never loses durability, making it a permanent piece of equipment once you earn it.

Both the Wrought Helm and the Axe of a Thousand Metals are guaranteed drops from the same kill, so defeating the Ferrous Wroughtnaut yields the boss’s full set of iron gear in one fight.

Obtaining

The Ferrous Wroughtnaut always drops the Wrought Helm when a player delivers the killing blow. There is no randomness: both the Wrought Helm and the Axe of a Thousand Metals drop at 100% from the same fight. The drop conditions require a player to land the kill directly, so deaths from fall damage or other environmental hazards will not award the helm.

Ferrous Wroughtnaut inside the chamber

The Ferrous Wroughtnaut lives inside the Wrought Chamber, a sealed stone structure that generates underground across most Overworld biomes except ocean biomes. The chamber spawns most commonly between Y 20 and Y 50, so strip mining or caving at those depths gives the best chance of breaking into one. See the Ferrous Wroughtnaut article for guidance on locating the chamber and surviving the fight.

Usage

Equip the Wrought Helm in your helmet slot to gain 2 armor points and 0.1 knockback resistance (10%). The defense matches a standard Iron Helmet, but the knockback resistance is a bonus that Iron and Diamond Helmets do not offer, reducing how far hits push you back during melee combat.

Player with both the Wrought Helm and Axe of a Thousand Metals

This resistance stacks with knockback resistance from other armor pieces, so pairing the Wrought Helm with Netherite armor compounds the effect quickly. Under default mod settings, the Wrought Helm has no durability bar and cannot break. It functions as a permanent piece of equipment that never needs to be repaired or replaced.

The helm is enchantable and accepts all head-slot enchantments at an enchanting table or anvil. Its enchantability is 9, matching Iron armor, which is slightly lower than Diamond (10) or Netherite (15). Protection, Respiration, Aqua Affinity, and Thorns are all available options.

Tips

The 10% knockback resistance stacks with Netherite armor pieces, each of which also provides 10%. Combining the Wrought Helm with Netherite Leggings and Netherite Boots gives 30% total knockback resistance, which meaningfully reduces the distance enemies push you during close-range fights.

Since the helm never breaks by default, expensive enchantment combinations are worth applying early. Protection IV reduces raw incoming damage and helps offset the helm’s lower armor value compared to Diamond or Netherite Helmets, while Respiration III is a strong long-term pick for players who spend significant time underwater.

A common mistake when first obtaining the Wrought Helm is reflexively adding Mending or Unbreaking, both enchantments are wasted under default mod settings. Because the helm has no durability, it can never take damage, so Mending has nothing to repair and Unbreaking has nothing to slow. Those enchantment slots are better spent on Protection IV, Aqua Affinity, or Respiration III. If your server runs the mod with breakability enabled in the config, Mending becomes worthwhile again since the helm can then be repaired with Iron Ingots.

If you already have a Diamond or Netherite Helmet with strong enchantments in place, the Wrought Helm is still useful as an accessible source of knockback resistance that requires no Netherite materials. It is a practical choice for mid-game players who want the knockback reduction before completing Netherite armor progression.

FAQ

Can the Wrought Helm break?

By default, no. The Wrought Helm has no durability under default mod settings and cannot be damaged through use. Server administrators can enable breakability in the mod’s config file, which also makes the helm repairable with Iron Ingots.

Can I enchant the Wrought Helm?

Yes. The Wrought Helm accepts all head-slot enchantments at an enchanting table or anvil, including Protection, Unbreaking, Respiration, Aqua Affinity, and Thorns. Its enchantability is 9, matching Iron armor. Note that Mending and Unbreaking have no effect under default settings since the helm cannot lose durability.

Is the Wrought Helm better than a Diamond or Netherite Helmet?

In raw armor points, no. Diamond and Netherite Helmets both provide 3 armor points versus the Wrought Helm’s 2, and both also have toughness values the Wrought Helm lacks. The Wrought Helm’s advantages are its 10% knockback resistance and permanent durability, which Iron and Diamond Helmets do not offer. Netherite Helmets also provide 10% knockback resistance alongside higher raw defense, but require Netherite to craft.

Can I find more than one Wrought Helm?

Yes. Each Ferrous Wroughtnaut drops one Wrought Helm when killed by a player, and multiple Wrought Chambers can generate in a world. Since the helm never breaks by default, you will rarely need more than one unless you want separate copies with different enchantment sets.

Does the Wrought Helm have any special interaction with the Axe of a Thousand Metals?

No. Both items drop from the same boss but function independently. There is no set bonus or passive effect triggered by equipping them together.
