The Arcanist Gear is a mana orientated Armor set focused on spellcasting, extending Vanilla Armor to better suit the Ars Nouveau playstyle. This guide will help you upgrade from basic Vanilla Armor to the third Tier of Ars Nouveau Armor step by step.

The information on this page will cover up to tier 3 of Arcanist Gear, included in the base Ars Nouveauars Mod, if addons are downloaded, there would be new upgrades available via All The Arcanist Gear Upgrades Mod extending the sets from 3 Tiers, to 6 Tiers.

Essential Core components

An essential core component are Source Gems, they’re required for most stages of the process, Source gems can be made by Converting Lapis to Source Gems via an Imbuement Chamber.

Imbuement Chambers are made from 6x Archwood Planks and 2 Gold Ingots. Archwood Planks are created the same way as Vanilla Planks, though using Ars Nouveau specific trees or structures.

Getting Started with Source

Before starting, you’ll need to have Source, an energy source for some stages of the crafting process. It’s best to start collecting Source early via Source Jars as they take some time to fill up and use less difficult material to gather.

To Create a Source Jar, you’ll need 6x Archwood Slabs and 2x Glass Blocks. Archwood Slabs are created from Archwood Planks, crafted from Archwood Trees and follow the same formula as Vanilla Slabs.

With the required blocks in place, it’s time to create a Source-generating setup, which is accomplished using a Sourcelink, a Source Jar, and one of the Source systems covered below. A note is that each Source Jar can contain 10,000 Source and has text stating what % filled it currently is.

Source Systems

One method could be to use Crop growing as a source generator, this means to make a standard farm and place an Agronomic Sourcelink near the farm. The Agronomic Sourcelink can be created using 2x Source Gems, 2x Gold ingots and a piece of Wheat.

It’s recommended to do Crop Growing as this is the easiest and most efficient method in line with this guide.

Burning Fuels can be another Source generator, which requires taking fuel and burning it in some capacity near a Volcanic Sourcelink. The Volcanic Sourcelink requires 2x Source Gems, 2x Gold Ingots, and a Brewing Stand.

Thirdly, using Potions can be another way to generate source, by using potions in close proximity to a Vitalic Sourcelink, the better the potion, the more source generated. The Vitalic Sourcelink can be created by using 2x Source Gems, 2x Gold Ingots and a Glistening Water Slice.

A fourth option could be to use Mob Farms, this is the most complicated option. This method requires the mob farm to be near a Mycelial Sourcelink, made with 2x Source Gems, 2x Gold Ingots, and a Mushroom Stew.

In this Example, the Agronomical Sourcelink is being used, as such that the Agronomical Sourcelink is near the Farm, collecting Source from crops as they grow, and depositing the source into the source Jar for further use.

What are the Ars Nouveau Armor sets

Ars Nouveau Armor is essentially vanilla Armor, re-visualised and with further mana attributes to support spell casting.

Ars Nouveau Armor is in the Ars Nouveau Mod, where it rewards up to 3 Enchantments and stats that would suit a mage such as boosted Max Mana and Mana Regeneration. Every set awards the same mana upgrades. Uses Vanilla Armor to convert into the Ars Nouveau alternative.

Ars Nouveau Armor sets

The Arcanist Armor set uses Iron Armor to convert into the Arcanist set, giving the player a stereotypical Wizard Appearance. Sorcerers Armor set uses Gold Armor to convert into the Sorcerer set, giving the player a sleek wizard Appearance.

Finally, the Battlemage set uses Diamond Armor to convert into the Battlemage set, giving the player a hooded spellcaster Appearance. Armor Sets are also able to be colored using dye.

Crafting ars Nouveau Armor

To craft Ars Nouveau Armor, first the player will have to create the following Set up:

An Enchanting Apparatus which requires 2x Sourcestone, 2x Gold Ingots, 4x Gold Nuggets and a Diamond, to be placed on top of an Arcane Core which is made from 6x Source Stone, 2x Gold ingots and a Source Gem, then 4 Pedestals each requiring 4x Source Stone and 4x Gold Nuggets.

Source Stone is mined from Structures created from Ars Nouveau, or found inside Chests.

The Arcane Core acts as the center, with the Enchanting Apparatus on top and 4 pedestals on each side, as the Enchanting Apparatus has a short range. Recipes are done by placing them on the pedestals as needed, then activated by placing the main catalyst into the Enchanting Apparatus where it’ll convert to the next item.

Most recipes are shapeless, and so can be placed in any order. You can place more pedestals around the Enchanting Apparatus; however, for this guide, you’ll need only 4.

This set up is used to upgrade Ars Nouveau Equipment from Vanilla Armor up to Tier 3. Note, while the Armor upgraded visually looks the same from Tiers 1 to 3, they do have higher Mana, Mana Regeneration, and more enchantment slots.

How to get Magebloom Fibers

Magebloom Fibers are an essential component, come from Magebloom Plants, which are created by placing 4 source gems around the enchanting apparatus, then a vanilla Seed in the center (such as Wheat Seeds, Carrots, Beetroot etc).

Tier 1

This is the stage where Vanilla Amor is converted into Arcanist Armor, it will have same Armor stats as the Armor counterpart used, though with +30 Max Mana, +1 Mana Regeneration and an empty Enchantment slot for each equipment equipped.

The Ars Nouveau Armor sets can be created by placing 4x Magebloom Fiber Like so before placing the Vanilla Armor Piece into the center block. (for example, an Iron Helmet would return an Arcanist Hat)

To get the full Arcanist set, do this for each of the pieces: Iron Helm, Iron Chest, Iron Leggings and Iron Boots.

To get the full Sorcerer set, do this for each of the pieces: Gold Helm, Gold Chest, Gold Leggings and Gold Boots.

To get the full Battlemage set, do this for each of the pieces: Diamond Helm, Diamond Chest, Diamond Leggings and Diamond Boots.

This will convert the Vanilla Armor sets into Ars Nouveau Armor sets, which will change in appearance and have an empty Enchantment on them as well as mage suiting stats upgrades. How to Enchant them will be covered later in the guide.

Tier 2

Using the Tier 1 Armor Obtained from the previous stage in the center, Place 2x Blaze Rods and ensure that the Source Jar is at least 25% Filled for each Armor upgrade.

This will add a further Empty Enchantment Slot to all pieces upgraded as well as a stat boost of another +30 Max Mana and +1 Mana Regeneration per piece resulting in +60 Max Mana and +2 Mana Regeneration per equipment slot.

Tier 3

Using the Tier 2 Armor Obtained from the previous stage, Place 2x Ender Pearls and a Chorus Fruit while ensuring that the Source Jar is at least 50% filled for each Armor Upgrade.

This will add a further Empty Enchantment Slot to all pieces Upgraded as well as a stat boost of another +30 Max Mana and +1 Mana Regeneration per piece resulting in +90 Max Mana and +3 Mana Regeneration per equipment slot.

Enchanting

To add Enchantments, which can be done at any stage as long as an empty enchantment exists on the equipment, the player will need to craft an Alteration Table, requiring 4x Magebloom Fibers and a Scribe’s Table.

To Craft a Scribe’s Table, you’ll need 3 slabs, 2 gold nuggets and 2 Logs Collected from Structures spawned from the Ars Nouveau Mod.

To Use the Alteration Table the player can place a Thread, there are 20 different Threads in the game, which applies the enchantment and then place Armor piece the player wants to apply it to on the right side.

Threads can be picked up through Chests, or crafted to Give Armor Pieces an unique enchantment of great use. Examples include: Thread of Gliding, Thread of Undying, Thread of Heights, Thread of Repairing, Thread of High Step, and Thread of Depths.
