Apotheosis Enchanting Guide

Apotheosis completely overhauls Minecraft's enchanting system, replacing the simple 15-bookshelf setup with a five-stat progression that pushes enchanting levels all the way to 100. Understanding how Eterna, Quanta, Arcana, Quantic Stability, and Clues interact is the difference between wasting XP on weak results and consistently producing powerful enchantments that vanilla tables cannot offer. This guide breaks down every stat, explains how each one affects enchanting outcomes, and walks through the full shelf tier progression from standard Bookshelves to the Draconic Endshelf. You will learn which blocks contribute to each stat, how to use Infusion Enchanting to upgrade shelves, why building two separate table setups matters at endgame, and how the Enchantment Library stores and organizes your enchanted books. Whether you are just starting with Hellshelves or pushing for Level 100, this guide covers the complete path.

Apotheosis transforms the vanilla enchanting table into a deeply customizable system with five distinct stats that control what enchantments appear and how powerful they can become. Instead of simply stacking 15 Bookshelves and calling it done, players can push enchanting levels up to 100 and unlock rare enchantments that standard tables can never produce.

Understanding how each stat works and what blocks raise them is the key to building an enchanting setup that actually produces the results players want. This guide covers every stat, every shelf tier, and the full progression path from a basic Bookshelf ring to a maxed-out Level 100 table.

The Five Enchanting Stats Explained

Apotheosis replaces the single "power level" of vanilla enchanting with five stats. Each stat controls a different aspect of the enchanting outcome. Blocks placed around the Enchanting Table contribute to these stats, and their values are always visible in the enchanting table tooltip.

The 3 main stats considered in apotheosis enchanting are: Eterna, Quanta, and Arcana. Then, there are 2 additional useful stats to know: Quanta Stability and Clues.

Eterna: The Power Level Stat

Eterna is the primary enchanting stat. Every single point of Eterna increases the maximum enchanting level by two. With 15 Bookshelves, a player has 15 Eterna, which caps the table at Level 30. At the maximum of 50 Eterna, the table reaches Level 100. Most shelf blocks have an Eterna cap, meaning they can only contribute Eterna up to a certain value; stacking more of the same shelf past that cap provides no additional Eterna.

Quanta: The Variance Stat

Quanta is a secondary stat that introduces randomness into the enchanting process. When a player enchants at a given level, that level becomes the Base Power. Quanta then modifies the Base Power by a random multiplier somewhere between (1 minus Quanta) and (1 plus Quanta), producing the Final Power that determines which enchantments are available. At 50% Quanta, a Level 60 enchant could land anywhere between Level 30 and Level 90.

High Quanta means larger swings in both directions. Without Quantic Stability, a player with 100% Quanta can receive a Final Power of zero, essentially wasting the enchantment. This is why managing Quanta and Quantic Stability together is critical in advanced setups.

Quantic Stability: Locking Out Negative Rolls

Quantic Stability (provided by the Bookshelf of Stability) prevents negative Quanta modifiers entirely. When stability is active, the Final Power cannot drop below the Base Power; only values equal to or higher than the Base Power are possible. Rather than a normal distribution across the full range, Quanta rolls shift to a uniform distribution across the positive side only. The result is consistent upward variance with no downside.

The Quanta Strategy

Once a player secures Quantic Stability, high Quanta becomes an advantage. Final Power will always be at or above the base level spent, often significantly higher. Players who max Quanta after getting stability will consistently see their enchantments overshoot their expected level.

Arcana: The Rarity Weight Stat

Arcana is the secondary stat that changes which enchantments are likely to appear. In vanilla, enchantments have fixed rarity weights: Common at 10, Uncommon at 5, Rare at 3, and Very Rare at 1. Arcana shifts these weights so that rarer enchantments become progressively more likely. At maximum Arcana, the weights invert entirely, making Very Rare enchantments the most common outcome.

Arcana also guarantees additional enchantments at specific thresholds. At 25% Arcana, a player always receives at least two enchantments per item. At 75% Arcana, every enchant produces at least three. Item enchantability also contributes. Apotheosis converts 50% of an item's base enchantability directly into Arcana, so gold items naturally produce more exotic results.

Clues: Seeing the Preview

Clues are a tertiary stat that controls how many enchantments are visible in the enchanting table's preview window. Each Clue allows one additional enchantment to appear in the info screen before committing to an enchant. With enough Clues, a player can see every available enchantment for a given slot. At zero Clues, no preview is visible at all. Sightshelves are the primary source of Clues.

Enchanting Power Level Progression

Apotheosis enchanting follows a clear tier structure. Each tier requires materials from the previous game stage to reach, and each tier unlocks higher Eterna and additional stat options. The full path runs from Level 30 all the way to Level 100 across six distinct tiers.

Reading the Enchanting Table Stats

Every block placed around the Enchanting Table shows its stat contributions in its tooltip. To check the current stats of the entire setup, place an item in the table and observe the five values displayed. These values update in real time as shelves are added or removed. Clicking the question mark icon in the top-right of the enchanting screen opens the Info Menu, which shows all available enchantments for the current power level and slot.

XP Farm First

Advancing through the shelf tiers requires significant experience. Each infusion enchant costs XP proportional to the table's current power level; at Level 100, infusing a single item costs 100 Levels of XP. Setting up an XP farm before pushing past Level 60 will save a great deal of frustration.

Level 30: The Vanilla Starting Point

1

15 Bookshelves

Place 15 Bookshelves within 2 blocks of the enchanting table for it to be included in the arcana/eterna/quanta equation.

This is where every Apotheosis enchanting journey begins. Fifteen standard Bookshelves placed around an Enchanting Table provide 15 Eterna and cap the table at Level 30. At this stage, max enchants cost 30 XP each. The only additional stats available at this tier come from Candles (which add Arcana) and Skulls (which add Quanta). These are optional additions that provide minor bonuses while preparing tier two materials.

Level 45: Hellshelves and Seashelves

2

Hellshelves or Seashelves

Replace some of the bookshelves with Hellshelves or Seashelves to get the eterna to 45, use Hellshelf if you want more powerful enchants, or Seashelf if you want Rarer enchants to be more common.

To push past Level 30, players craft Hellshelves or Seashelves. Hellshelves require Blaze Rods and Potions of Regeneration and are crafted from Nether materials. Seashelves use water bottles and Puffer Fish and are an ocean-based alternative for players who have not yet ventured to the Nether. Adding six of either type to the existing Bookshelf ring raises Eterna to 45 and the table cap to Level 45, with enchants now costing 45 XP.

Level 60: Infused Shelves

3

Infused Hellshelves or Infused Seashelves

Looks identical in-game to the previous stage, infuse the existing non-vanilla bookshelves to get Eterna to level 60, 6 Infused Bookshelves take the Eterna to 60

Reaching Level 60 requires infusing the shelves built at tier two. Players take their Hellshelves or Seashelves, place them in the Enchanting Table's infusion slot at the appropriate stat threshold, and spend XP to create Infused versions. Eight Infused Hellshelves combined with the remaining standard Bookshelves push Eterna to 60 and unlock Level 60. At this tier, the Bookshelf of Stability (Geode-encased) also becomes craftable by performing the amethyst infusion; this is the source of Quantic Stability.

Infusing bookshelves means to enchant the bookshelf with the 3rd option, as shown above
Infuse Early and Often

Infusing shelves at Level 60 costs less XP than infusing the same shelves later at a higher table level. Players who plan to push to Level 100 should infuse Dormant Deepshelves using the Level 60 setup to save XP. The same infusion costs more once the table reaches Level 80 or higher.

Level 70 and 75: Deepshelves

4

Dormant Deepshelves → Deepshelves → Echoing and Soul-Touched Variants

Replace 3 of the vanilla shelves with Dormant deepshelves, then infuse them into DEepshelves, then finally upgrade them into Echoing deepshelves or Soul-Touched deepshelves.

Pushing from Level 60 to Level 70 requires Dormant Deepshelves, crafted from Deepslate. After infusing a Dormant Deepshelf into the Level 60 setup, it becomes a Deepshelf that can push the table to Level 70. To reach Level 75, players upgrade Deepshelves further using Echo Shards (looted from Ancient Cities) and Sculk (collected with Silk Touch) to create Echoing Deepshelves and Soul-Touched Deepshelves.

Level 80: Sculkshelves and the Warden

5

Echoing Sculkshelves and Soul-Touched Sculkshelves

The final step to Level 80 requires defeating the Warden. Warden drops provide the materials to craft Sculkshelves, specifically the Echoing Sculkshelf and Soul-Touched Sculkshelf variants. Adding these to the setup alongside the Bookshelf of Stability blocks creates a solid Level 80 table with good Quanta management. A well-built Level 80 setup typically shows 80 Eterna, around 30% Quanta (reduced by stability shelves), and 60% Arcana.

Level 90 and 100: Endshelves and the Draconic Endshelf

6

Endshelves → Draconic Endshelf

Reaching Level 90 requires infusing Dragon's Breath to create Infused Dragon's Breath, which is the core ingredient of Endshelves. Dragon's Breath is collected by using a Glass Bottle on the dragon's breath attack during the Ender Dragon fight. Pearl Endshelves are an additional variant that provides extra stats alongside Eterna.

The absolute cap , Level 100 , is unlocked by a single Draconic Endshelf. This shelf requires a Dragon Head, which is found on End Ships in End Cities. One Dragon Head crafts one Draconic Endshelf, and one Draconic Endshelf alone pushes the table from Level 90 to Level 100. It provides no additional secondary stats, only the final Eterna needed to reach the cap.

Dragon Heads only appear on End Ships, which are found in approximately one out of every four End Cities. Using a Structure Compass or Explorer's Compass to locate End Cities quickly is strongly recommended. A magnet item will also prevent the Dragon Head from falling into the void when broken.

At max level, experienced players maintain two separate Enchanting Table setups rather than one. Each setup is optimized for a different type of result, and combining them provides full control over the enchanting pool.

High Arcana Setup (Rare Enchants)

Run 100% Eterna, 100% Quanta, 100% Arcana with Quantic Stability active. This setup produces rare and very rare enchantments at high frequency , exclusive Apotheosis enchants, high-level curses stripped away by the Enchantment Library, and unusual combinations that standard tables cannot generate. Use Curse of Vanishing and Curse of Binding filter books in the Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration to block curses from appearing.

Zero Arcana Setup (Common Enchants)

Run 100% Eterna, 100% Quanta, 0% Arcana with Quantic Stability active. This setup keeps the vanilla enchantment weight distribution intact, which means Protection, Fortune, Efficiency, and other bread-and-butter enchants appear consistently. At Level 100 with full Quanta and stability, these common enchants can reach extremely high levels , Efficiency IX is achievable in this configuration.

The Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration allows players to block up to six specific enchantments from appearing at the table. Insert a single-enchantment book of any enchantment to blacklist it , that enchantment will no longer show up in any slot. Filtered enchantments are reflected in the Info Screen for easy verification.

The Enchantment Library and Library of Alexandria

The Enchantment Library is a dedicated storage system for enchanted books. Rather than maintaining a chest full of sorted books, players insert enchanted books into the library, and every enchantment on each book is converted into stored points. Clicking any stored enchantment pulls out a book with one level of that enchantment. Shift-clicking pulls out the highest available level in a single action.

The standard Enchantment Library holds enchantments up to a Level Capacity of XVI. The Library of Alexandria, an infused upgrade, raises that capacity to XXXI and dramatically increases the total points that can be stored, approximately 1.1 billion points per enchantment, compared to 32,768 in the standard library. The infusion to create the Library of Alexandria requires a Level 100 table with exactly 45–50% Quanta and 100% Arcana.

Max Level Locking

The Enchantment Library tracks the highest level ever inserted for each enchantment and can only extract up to that level. To unlock Fortune XV from Apotheosis boss drops, insert the Fortune XV item or book directly into the library; this sets the extractable maximum. After that, inserting lower-level Fortune books adds points, and all those points can be withdrawn at Fortune XV.

The library also strips curses automatically. An enchanted book with the Curse of Binding and Infinity inserted into the library will split those enchantments apart; Infinity points are stored and usable, while the Curse of Binding is removed. This makes the Enchantment Library essential for safely processing loot with unwanted curse attachments.

Tips for Success

Building the best enchanting setup requires more than just placing shelves. These strategies will prevent the most common wasted time and resources.

Use Tomes for Targeted Enchanting

Apotheosis adds item-specific Tomes , weapon tomes, helmet tomes, pickaxe tomes, and more. These tomes can only receive enchantments valid for their type, making it easier to roll targeted results without wading through irrelevant enchantments. Enchant a Tome, then apply the resulting book to the intended item.

Check the Info Screen Before Committing

The Info Screen (question mark button in the top-right of the enchanting table) shows exactly which enchantments are available for each slot and what the chances are of receiving each one. The Power Slider adjusts the simulated power level so players can preview how changing the Base Power affects the available pool before spending any XP.

Batch Infuse at Lower Costs

Infusion costs scale with the table's current Eterna level. Infusing 12 Dormant Deepshelves at Level 60 costs significantly less XP than infusing the same shelves at Level 100. Plan ahead and run all infusions needed for the next tier while still at the lower table level.

Troubleshooting

Even with a solid understanding of the system, a few common issues trip up players at every stage.

Enchants Seem Weaker Than Expected

If enchantments are landing below the expected level, Quanta is likely rolling negative modifiers without Quantic Stability active. Without stability, a player spending 80 XP on a Level 80 enchant can receive a Final Power anywhere from zero to 160 , the low end is just as likely as the high end. Adding Bookshelves of Stability prevents the negative rolls entirely.

Solution

Add at least one Bookshelf of Stability (Geode-encased Bookshelf) to the setup. Once Quantic Stability is active, Quanta can no longer produce Final Power values below the Base Power spent. Check the Quantic Stability stat in the table tooltip to confirm it is active.

Only Getting Rare or Unusual Enchantments, Never Common Ones

This is the expected behavior of a high-Arcana setup. When Arcana is at or near 100%, the vanilla rarity weights invert, Very Rare enchantments become the most common result, and Common enchantments become rare. For Protection, Fortune, Efficiency, and other standard enchants, a zero-Arcana secondary setup is required.

Solution

Build a second Enchanting Table setup using shelf types that provide zero Arcana. Standard Bookshelves, Hellshelves without arcana bonuses, and Sculkshelves focused on Eterna keep Arcana at zero. Run this table for common enchants and the high-Arcana table for rare ones.

The Infusion Slot Is Not Lighting Up

Infusion Enchanting requires the table to meet specific stat thresholds , a minimum Eterna, a minimum Quanta, and sometimes a maximum Quanta ceiling. If the infusion slot stays dark after placing the item, the setup does not meet one or more of these requirements. The infusion screen provides no direct feedback on which stat is missing.

Common Mistake

The Library of Alexandria infusion requires Quanta between 45% and 50%, not maximum Quanta. Players who remove all their Bookshelf of Stability blocks to raise Quanta may overshoot the required range. Check the table stats carefully and adjust shelves to land exactly within the required window.

Eterna Is Not Increasing Past a Certain Value

Most shelf blocks have an individual Eterna cap, the maximum amount of Eterna that a specific block type can contribute to the total. Adding more shelves of the same type past their capacity adds nothing to Eterna. To push Eterna higher, a different, more advanced shelf type that has a higher cap is required. This is what forces progression through the Apotheosis tier system rather than simply stacking more of the same shelf.

FAQ

What is the maximum enchanting level in Apotheosis?

The maximum enchanting level is 100, reached at 50 Eterna. The only item that pushes a table from Level 90 to Level 100 is the Draconic Endshelf, which requires a Dragon Head from an End Ship to craft.

Do I need Quantic Stability before maxing Quanta?

Yes. Without Quantic Stability, high Quanta is a liability , it can send Final Power far below the level spent, producing weak enchantments. Once stability is active, Quanta only modifies upward, making high Quanta a consistent advantage. Always secure at least one Bookshelf of Stability before raising Quanta significantly.

Can I see what enchantments are available before spending XP?

Yes. Place the item in the table and click the question mark icon in the top-right of the enchanting screen. The Info Menu shows all enchantments available for each slot, their levels, rarities, and selection chances. The Power Slider lets players preview different power levels without committing. Each Clue stat point adds one more visible enchantment to the preview window.

What is the Enchanting Seed and why does it matter?

The Enchanting Seed is a hidden value that determines all random outcomes at the enchanting table. As long as the seed stays the same, the same item in the same slot will always produce the same enchantment options. The seed changes only when a player successfully enchants an item. This means players can preview the Info Screen for a given slot without the results changing , only committing to an enchant rerolls the seed.

Why does my Enchantment Library not let me extract high-level enchantments?

The Enchantment Library tracks the highest level ever inserted for each enchantment. If only Sharpness IV books have been inserted, the library cannot extract Sharpness V , the maximum extractable level is locked at IV. To unlock extraction at a higher level, insert a book containing that level of enchantment. For special high-level enchantments from Apotheosis bosses (such as Fortune XV), insert the drop directly to set the library's maximum level.
