Apotheosis Guide

Apotheosis is a comprehensive RPG overhaul mod that brings loot-based progression to Minecraft through its Affix system, which enhances any weapon, armor, or tool with randomized stat bonuses and powerful special effects. The mod features five rarity tiers from Common to Mythic, each providing increasingly potent modifiers ranging from simple damage boosts to game-changing abilities like life steal, area damage, and execution thresholds. Players progress through five World Tiers that scale both difficulty and rewards, facing challenging Apothic Invaders who guarantee valuable drops. A deep socketing system allows Gems to be embedded into equipment for additional customization, while specialized workstations let you salvage unwanted items, reforge new affixes, augment specific bonuses, and upgrade gem purity.

Apotheosis transforms Minecraft into a full-fledged RPG experience with powerful Affix items, socketable Gems, challenging Invaders, and a World Tier progression system. The mod enhances any weapon, armor, or tool you find with randomized modifiers that dramatically boost your combat capabilities. This guide covers everything from finding your first Affix item to crafting Mythic-tier equipment at the Pinnacle of power.

Getting Started

Your Apotheosis journey begins the moment you pick up your first Affix item. These special items drop from mobs, appear in loot chests, are found within tower structures that Apotheosis generates, and can be purchased from the Wandering Trader. Each Affix item has a colored name indicating its rarity, from grey Common items to orange Mythic treasures.

Craft the Chronicle of Shadows guidebook by combining a Book with a Gold Ingot in a Crafting Table. This in-game manual contains detailed information about every Apotheosis feature, and its contents update based on which modules are enabled in your modpack.

Apotheosis adds tower structures, which are guaranteed to contain a few Starter affix items and gems – though items can spawn anywhere.

This tower structure can spawn in multiple biomes: Desert, Spruce, Main, and Leaf. Generally only found in the Overworld dimension and acts as a boost pad for starters. Just be wary of TNT around the tower.

First Steps

Open the World Tier selection screen with CTRL+T after finding your first Affix item. Activate World Tier Haven to unlock the item’s hidden power and begin your progression through the tier system.

The mod is divided into several interconnected systems. Affixes provide the stat bonuses on your items. Gems socket into Affix items for additional bonuses. World Tiers control difficulty and loot quality. Invaders are powerful mobs that guarantee Affix item drops. Understanding how these systems work together is key to maximizing your power.

Gems and Socketing

Gems are crystals of concentrated power that can be socketed into Affix items with available socket slots. Each gem provides different bonuses depending on what type of item you socket it into. A Guardian Gem might provide armor when socketed into a chestplate, but grant damage when placed in a sword.

Dedicated Guide for Apotheosis Gems

Socketing and Removing Gems

Socket gems using a Smithing Table by placing the Affix item in the left slot and the gem on the right. The gem’s tooltip displays which item types it fits into and what bonuses it provides for each type. Some gems are marked as Unique, meaning only one copy of that gem can be socketed per item.

Ensure that gems are compatible with the gear item. It must have an empty socket available.

Removing socketed gems requires a Sigil of Withdrawal. Place the socketed item and the sigil in a Smithing Table to retrieve both the item and all its gems intact. Without the sigil, you cannot remove gems without destroying them.

Gem Socketing Is Permanent

Once socketed, gems cannot be removed without a Sigil of Withdrawal. Plan your gem placement carefully, especially for high-purity gems that require significant resources to create.

Gem Purity

Every gem has a Purity level that determines its strength. Cracked gems provide the weakest bonuses while Perfect gems offer the strongest. Purity is the primary factor in gem power, more important than the gem type itself. A Perfect Cracked-tier gem can still be upgraded to Perfect for maximum effectiveness.

Creating Gem Dust

Gem Dust is the primary currency for gem upgrades at the Gem Cutting Table. Your first Gem Dust must be created by dropping any Apothic Gem into the world and causing an Anvil to fall on it.

This can be achieved by right-clicking a 1 by 2 with an anvil, causing it to drop onto a dropped Gem, which crushes it into gem dust needed to craft the salvaging table.

After obtaining your first dust, you can salvage additional gems at the Salvaging Table for more efficient dust conversion.

World Tiers

World Tiers are a per-player progression system that controls difficulty and rewards. Each tier increases mob strength through augments, but also improves the quality of loot you find. Tiers are not shared between players in multiplayer, allowing each person to progress at their own pace.

Pressing Ctrl-T opens this menu, players can select which unlocked tier to combat in, and receive loot from.

World Tiers enable additional mobs to spawn nearby at varying difficulty levels, resulting in loot drops that correspond to their difficulty. Greater difficulty equals higher quality loot.

For example, in the haven tier, the likelihood of getting common or uncommon is fairly high; at higher tiers, the probability would shift towards higher rarity items and gems.

Tier Progression

1

Haven

The start of your journey – unlocked by default

Haven becomes accessible after finding your first Affix item. This tier serves as the introduction to Apotheosis systems with minimal mob buffs. Activate it through the World Tier screen to unlock the power of any Affix items you’re carrying. This is done by picking any single equippable item added by the Apotheosis mod, then pressing Ctrl-T.

2

Frontier

Venture forth into the dangerous world

Apothic Invaders begin spawning at this tier, marked by beams of light and warning messages. Higher rarity items become more common. This is done by picking up an entire gear set from the Apotheosis Mod.

3

Ascent

Begin your ascent to power

Ascent demands a full set of Uncommon Affix gear, including weapon, plus slaying at least one Apothic Invader. Mob difficulty increases substantially, but Rare items appear more frequently.

4

Summit

You’ve reached the top, but not the end

Reaching Summit requires a complete set of Rare Affix equipment and defeating the Wither boss. Epic rarity items become commonly available at this tier, providing access to multiple effect affixes and additional gem sockets.

5

Pinnacle

Lose thyself in the mountain’s stormy peaks

The final tier unlocks after obtaining full Epic gear and slaying the Ender Dragon. Pinnacle offers the greatest difficulty alongside the best chance for Mythic items. Players seeking the ultimate challenge and rewards operate at this tier.

Click the Detailed Info button in the World Tier screen to view exact rarity drop percentages, gem purity chances, and all mob and player augments active at each tier level.

Apothic Invaders and Elites

Apothic Invaders are powerful named mobs that spawn rarely on the surface, starting at World Tier Frontier (A full set of affixed gear). Their arrival is unmistakable: a loud sound plays, a status message appears, and a beacon beam descends from the sky marking their location. Each Invader wields fully enchanted gear and possesses a single Affix item that drops guaranteed upon death.

Invader Mechanics

Invaders have their own rarity tier indicated by their name color and glowing outline. A Rare Invader drops a Rare Affix item, while a Mythic Invader guarantees Mythic loot. The dropped item typically has stronger-than-normal affixes and carries the Invader’s name as a prefix, serving as a memento of your victory.

A Notification annoucing this mob is near, as well as an outline of their location at all times.

Beyond their guaranteed Affix item, Invaders have additional loot tables providing bonus drops. They also have an increased chance to drop Apothic Gems compared to regular mobs. Hunting Invaders is one of the most efficient ways to acquire both Affix items and Gems for your progression.

Named Invaders occur much more frequently in the Nether, with new spawns every minute.

Apothic Elites

Elites are empowered mobs that spawn randomly in place of their normal counterparts. Unlike Invaders, they have no flashy entrance announcement, making them a potentially dangerous surprise. Elites can drop Affix items, but without the guarantee that Invaders provide. Their named status and empowered abilities make them tougher than regular mobs of the same type.

Invader Dungeons

Hidden underground structures house Caged Invaders alongside valuable loot chests. These dungeons spawn in various configurations throughout the Overworld caves. Approaching the cage triggers the Invader’s release, so prepare for combat before getting close. The surrounding chests contain additional Affix items and Gems as rewards.

Workstations Guide

Apotheosis adds 5 new workstations and makes use of the smithing tables/anvil from vanilla.

Apotheosis adds five specialized crafting stations for managing your Affix items and Gems. Each station serves a specific purpose in the item modification pipeline, from breaking down unwanted items to perfecting your best equipment.

The Affix System

Affixes are the randomized modifiers that give Apotheosis items their power. Each affix has a name prefix or suffix that appears in the item’s display name, helping you identify its bonuses at a glance. A Violent Netherite Sword of Slaying indicates a damage-focused weapon, while Ironforged Diamond Armor of Iron emphasizes defense.

Melee Weapon Affixes

Melee weapons gain access to some of the most powerful offensive affixes. Violent increases attack damage directly. Graceful boosts attack speed for faster swings. Intricate improves critical hit chance while Lacerating enhances critical damage. Vampiric provides life steal on every hit, keeping you healthy during extended combat.

Ranged Weapon Affixes

Bows and Crossbows each receive a set of specialized affixes. Elven increases draw speed for faster shots. Streamlined extends the arrow range and accuracy. Spectral gives a chance to fire a second arrow for free. Magical converts arrow damage to magic type, bypassing armor entirely.

Armor Affixes

Armor pieces can roll defensive affixes that dramatically increase survivability. Blessed adds maximum health. Ironforged increases armor value. Steel Touched boosts armor toughness. Stalwart provides knockback resistance. Various damage reduction affixes like Grounded, Runed, and Blast-Forged reduce specific damage types by a percentage.

Mining Tool Affixes

Pickaxes, Shovels, and Axes gain utility affixes that enhance resource gathering. Radial causes tools to break blocks in a larger area. Super-Massive expands this area even further. Enlightened lets your tool place light sources underground. Telepathic causes block drops to teleport directly to your inventory.

Understanding Item Rarities

Every Affix item belongs to one of five rarity tiers, each indicated by the color of the item’s name. Higher rarities provide more affixes, stronger stats, and additional sockets for Gems. Rarity also determines which materials you receive when salvaging and which materials you need for reforging.

Affix Types

Affixes come in four distinct categories. Stat Affixes provide simple numerical bonuses to attributes like damage, health, or armor. Effect Affixes grant unique abilities such as area damage, execution thresholds, or mob effect infliction. Socket Affixes create slots for Gems. Durability Affixes make items more resistant to breaking and stack multiplicatively with the Unbreaking enchantment.

Gems come in multiple forms – Brawler’s, Breach, Combatant, Guardian, Lightning, Lunar, Samurai, Slipstream, Solar, Splendor, to name a few.

Effect Affixes only appear on Rare or higher items, making these rarities significantly more powerful than their Common and Uncommon counterparts. A Mythic sword might execute enemies below 15% health, deal lightning damage to nearby mobs, and provide life steal, all on top of its base stat bonuses.

Best Affixes

While affix preferences depend on your build and playstyle, certain affixes stand out for their powerful effects. Effect affixes available only on Rare+ items provide the most dramatic benefits.

Dimension-Specific Gems

Certain gems only drop in specific dimensions, requiring exploration to complete your collection. Overworld gems like Gem of the Earth provide balanced bonuses. Nether gems such as Gem of the Incandescent Inferno and Gem of the Ravenous Blood Lord offer fire and life steal themed effects. End gems, including Endersurge Gem and Gem of the Mageslayer, provide anti-magic and teleportation bonuses.

Gem Farming Strategy

Hunt Apothic Invaders for the highest gem drop rates. Gems dropped by Invaders tend to have higher purity than those from regular mobs or chests. Activate your highest available World Tier before farming to maximize purity chances.

Sigils and Special Items

Sigils are consumable items that fuel workstations or provide special effects. Understanding which sigil to use where helps you manage resources efficiently.

The Sigil of Malice deserves special mention as an esoteric item that randomly modifies an Affix item in unpredictable ways. Some players use it for gambling on improvements while others avoid the risk. The Sigil of Supremacy represents the ultimate reward from completing Wave 100 of the Endless Gateway of Apothic Invaders, overcharging every affix on an item to maximum potential.

Tips for Success

Build an XP Farm Early

Reforging and augmenting consume massive amounts of experience. A reliable XP source before starting serious item crafting prevents frustrating resource shortages during progression.

Salvage Everything

Never throw away Affix items regardless of rarity. Salvage all unwanted items for Rarity Materials. Low-tier materials remain useful for gem cutting even when you’ve moved past Common and Uncommon gear.

Hunt Invaders Aggressively

Invaders guarantee Affix item drops and have increased gem drop rates. When you hear the spawn sound and see the beacon, prioritize tracking down and defeating the Invader before it despawns.

Progress through World Tiers steadily rather than rushing to Pinnacle. Each tier’s difficulty increase is substantial, and entering a tier before your gear matches the challenge leads to frustrating deaths. Meet the gear requirements comfortably before activating the next tier.

Save your Mythic Rarity Materials for truly exceptional items. Reforging to Mythic costs significant resources, including five Sigils of Rebirth and 50 experience levels per attempt. Wait until you have a base item you want to keep permanently before investing Mythic materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my first Affix item?
›

Affix items drop from mobs with a small chance, appear in loot chests throughout the world, and can be purchased from the Wandering Trader. Once you find one, press CTRL+T to open the World Tier screen and activate Haven to unlock its power.

Can I remove affixes from an item?
›

You cannot remove individual affixes, but you can reforge the entire item at a Reforging Table to get new random affixes. The Augmenting Table allows you to reroll specific affixes to different ones of the same type, but not remove them entirely.

How do I get Gem Dust?
›

Drop any Apothic Gem on the ground and cause an Anvil block to fall on it. This crushes the gem into dust. After obtaining your first dust this way, you can use the Salvaging Table to convert gems to dust more efficiently.

What happens if I die while an Invader is alive?
›

Invaders are persistent and will remain in the world until killed or despawned naturally. Return to their location quickly to finish the fight and claim your guaranteed Affix item drop. The beacon beam remains visible to help you relocate them.

Can different players have different World Tiers?
›

Yes, World Tiers are per-player in multiplayer. Each player progresses independently through the tier system. When content spawns near multiple players, it typically uses the tier of the closest player to determine difficulty and loot quality.

What’s the difference between Simple and regular Reforging Tables?
›

The Simple Reforging Table can only create items up to Rare rarity. The full Reforging Table upgrades from the Simple version and can create Epic and Mythic items. Both tables offer three random choices per reforge, with increasing costs for each additional choice slot.

How do I increase my chances of finding Mythic items?
›

Activate World Tier Pinnacle for the highest Mythic drop rates. Hunt Apothic Invaders at Pinnacle tier for guaranteed high-rarity drops. You can also reforge items to Mythic rarity using the Reforging Table with Godforged Pearls and 50 experience levels per attempt.
