Venus is the Tier 3 planet in Ad Astra and the reason you spent all that time on Mars farming
Ostrum Ingot. It is the only place to mine
Calorite Ingot, the material needed for the
Tier 4 Rocket and the
Jet Suit.
The trade-off is brutal: Venus has the highest surface temperature of any planet at 464°C, and your standard
Space Suit will not save you. Without the right gear, you will catch fire and die within seconds of landing.
Despite the extreme heat, Venus has near-Earth gravity at 8.87 m/s², so movement and combat feel familiar. The surface has no oxygen, so you need a full suit regardless. Surface
Solar Panel produce very little energy here due to thick cloud cover, but the Venus Orbit dimension generates some of the highest solar output in the mod at 48 FE/t.
Getting There
You need a
Tier 3 Rocket to reach Venus, which requires
Ostrum Ingot gathered from Mars. The rocket is assembled at the
Nasa Workbench using a
Rocket Nose Cone, six
Ostrum Block, two
Ostrum Tank, an
Ostrum Engine, and four
Rocket Fin. This is a significant Ostrum investment, so plan your Mars mining trips accordingly.
The Tier 3 Rocket uses standard fuel, so fill it up at a
Fuel Refinery before launch just like previous rockets. Once fueled, launch from a
Launch Pad and navigate to Venus through the space travel screen. Landing on Venus earns you the “Venusian” advancement and 200 experience points.
Environment
Atmosphere
Venus has no breathable atmosphere. Outside of a sealed oxygen bubble created by an
Oxygen Distributor, you rely entirely on the oxygen stored in your
Netherite Space Suit. The Netherite Space Suit handles both oxygen supply and heat protection in a single armor set.

You must wear all four pieces of the Netherite Space Suit (Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots) for either protection to apply. A partial set provides neither oxygen nor heat resistance. A
Potion Of Fire Resistance also bypasses the heat damage check and lets any full Space Suit work on Venus, but potions run out while the Netherite Space Suit is a permanent solution.
Venus has a surface temperature of 464°C. Any temperature above 70°C causes burn damage unless you wear the full Netherite Space Suit or have a Fire Resistance potion active. A regular Space Suit provides oxygen but does not protect from heat. You will catch fire the moment you land. Craft and equip the full Netherite Space Suit set before you travel.
Temperature
Venus has the highest surface temperature of any planet in Ad Astra at 464°C. The safe liveable range is -50°C to 70°C, so you will take continuous burn damage without proper protection. The Netherite Space Suit or a Fire Resistance potion prevents this damage entirely.
Inside a sealed oxygen bubble created by an Oxygen Distributor, the ambient temperature is regulated and heat damage does not apply. This makes it safe to build a permanent base without the suit equipped indoors. Bring several extended Fire Resistance potions as backup on your first visit.
Gravity
Venus has gravity of 8.87 m/s², which is about 90% of Earth’s 9.807 m/s². This makes Venus feel almost identical to the Overworld in terms of movement and jump height. Unlike Mars and Glacio where low gravity makes everything feel floaty, you will not notice much difference on Venus.
Biomes
Venus has two distinct biomes. Both biomes share the same mob spawns and core ore deposits, but the Infernal Venus Barrens offers unique terrain features not found elsewhere on the planet. All three Venus structures generate exclusively in the Venus Wastelands.
Venus Wastelands
The Venus Wastelands cover most of the surface. The terrain above Y 87 is covered in
Venus Sand and
Venus Sandstone, giving it a yellow-orange dusty appearance. Below that, the ground transitions to
Venus Stone throughout the rest of the depth.

Crimson Spore particles drift through the atmosphere and lava springs can appear underground. All three Venus structures (Venus Bullet, Pygro Village, and Pygro Tower) generate exclusively in this biome.
Infernal Venus Barrens
The Infernal Venus Barrens is a harsher zone with
Basalt and
Blackstone terrain on its surface rather than Venus Sand. The defining visual feature is Infernal Spire Columns, pillars of Infernal Spire Block that erupt from the ground like stalagmites. Small columns reach 1 to 4 blocks tall while large columns reach 5 to 10 blocks tall with a wider base of 2 to 3 blocks.

You will also find Lava Deltas, Basalt Pillars, and Magma Ore here, making this biome feel like a cross between the Nether and a volcanic wasteland.
Gravel patches appear between Y 30 and Y 35. No structures generate in this biome.
Resources
Venus is the only natural source of
Calorite Ingot in the mod. While it also contains
Diamond,
Gold, and
Coal, Calorite is what makes the trip worthwhile.
All four ore types spawn throughout both biomes, concentrated in the Y -80 to 80 range. Coal is exceptionally common with 20 veins per chunk, making Venus a surprisingly good place to stock up on fuel for your furnaces and Coal Generators.
Calorite Ore
Venus Calorite Ore is your primary objective. Mining it without Silk Touch drops
Raw Calorite, which you smelt or blast-furnace into
Calorite Ingot. Fortune applies with the standard ore formula.

A 50% discard chance applies when the ore is exposed to air, meaning surface-exposed veins yield fewer drops. Tunnel mining is more reliable. Calorite is the key ingredient for the
Tier 4 Rocket and the
Jet Suit.
Other Ores
Venus Diamond Ore drops standard Diamonds and has the same 50% air-exposure discard mechanic as Calorite.
Venus Gold Ore drops Raw Gold with no air-exposure discard, and
Venus Coal Ore drops Coal also without discard. Mine Diamonds and Calorite underground for the best yield, but Gold and Coal can be safely mined from exposed veins. Mine Diamonds and Calorite at Y 0 in solid stone for the best yield.

Structures
Venus has three structures, all generating exclusively in the Venus Wastelands biome. Two of these structures contain Pygro mobs as pre-placed inhabitants, making them the only reliable source of Pygro encounters on the planet.
Venus Bullet
The Venus Bullet is a small surface structure that spawns throughout the Venus Wastelands. It generates with a spacing of 27 chunks and a minimum separation of 14 chunks, so you will encounter them reasonably often as you explore. Use the command below to locate the nearest one.
Pygro Village
The Pygro Village is a large structure that generates in the Venus Wastelands with a spacing of 24 chunks and a minimum separation of 17 chunks. It consists of a central watch tower connected by hallways to multiple rooms and smaller towers. The village uses a modular layout that can vary in size and configuration each time it generates.

Multiple Pygro mobs spawn inside the village rooms and towers as pre-placed entities. You will also find barrels scattered throughout the rooms containing loot. Approach carefully and clear each room of Pygros before looting, since they will attack on sight and nearby Pygros will join the fight.
Pygro Tower
The Pygro Tower is a standalone tower structure that generates in the Venus Wastelands with a spacing of 29 chunks and a minimum separation of 19 chunks. It contains Pygros and Moglers inside, making it a dangerous structure to enter unprepared.

Clear the tower from bottom to top to avoid getting surrounded. The Moglers inside hit hard, so keep your
Netherite Space Suit equipped for both heat protection and its armor rating during the fight.
Mobs
Venus has three hostile mobs that spawn naturally across both biomes, plus Pygros that appear as pre-placed inhabitants inside Venus structures.
Mogler

Moglers are hostile pig-like creatures that spawn in groups of 1 to 3 across both Venus biomes. They also appear as pre-placed mobs inside Pygro Towers. Moglers hit hard in melee range, so keep your distance when possible and use ranged attacks to thin groups before closing in. The
Netherite Space Suit armor rating reduces their damage to a manageable level.
Sulfur Creeper

Sulfur Creepers are the Venus variant of the Creeper and spawn in groups of 1 to 3 across both biomes. They behave like standard Creepers, approaching silently and exploding when close enough. Keep your ears open and maintain situational awareness while mining underground, since a Sulfur Creeper explosion can break open sealed structures and compromise your oxygen setup.
Zombified Pygro
Zombified Pygros are undead Pygros that spawn in groups of 1 to 2 across both biomes. They behave similarly to Piglins: attacking one will draw any nearby Zombified Pygros into the fight. Pull them apart or use ranged attacks to thin groups before closing to melee. What looks like a single target can quickly become several.
Pygro

Pygros do not spawn naturally in the wild. They appear exclusively as pre-placed entities inside Pygro Villages and Pygro Towers. They are hostile and carry Golden Swords, attacking on sight. Pygros can pick up loot and wear armor, so approach them with caution. When you attack one in a structure, nearby Pygros will join the fight.
Building a Base
Power
Solar Panels produce only 8 FE/t on Venus’s surface, the lowest of any planet in Ad Astra. Thick cloud cover blocks most sunlight, making surface solar nearly useless for powering machines. Use
Coal Generators instead for reliable surface power.
Venus Coal Ore generates at 20 veins per chunk with no air-exposure discard, so fuel is plentiful.
If you need solar energy, build a Space Station in Venus Orbit where Solar Panels produce 48 FE/t. The Venus Orbit Space Station requires 64 Steel Ingots, 64 Steel Plates, 32 Calorite Ingots, and 32 Calorite Plates. This is one of the highest solar outputs in the mod and makes Venus Orbit an excellent location for energy-hungry operations.
Oxygen and Pressurization
Set up an
Oxygen Distributor connected to a power source inside a sealed structure to create a breathable zone. Use
Airlocks at doorways to prevent oxygen from escaping when you enter and exit. Inside a sealed oxygen bubble, the ambient temperature is regulated, so you can safely remove your Netherite Space Suit indoors.
Beds work on Venus, so set your spawn point early to avoid being sent back to the Overworld on death. Venus does not support Respawn Anchors, so beds are your only reliable spawn option.
Tips
Equip the full Netherite Space Suit before you even launch your rocket. There is no grace period on landing and no partial protection. Arriving with three out of four pieces equipped is the same as arriving with none.
Mine Calorite underground rather than near the surface. The 50% air-exposure discard chance applies to individual blocks in a vein when they are exposed to cave ceilings or open space. You will get more consistent drops by strip mining at Y 0 where veins are fully enclosed in stone. Bring Fortune III to significantly increase your Calorite yield per run.
Bring Coal Generators or pre-charged Etrionic Capacitors to power your base on Venus. Do not rely on Solar Panels for surface power since the 8 FE/t output can barely run a single machine.
If you make multiple Venus trips to stockpile Calorite, consider switching from standard fuel to Cryo Fuel for your Tier 3 Rocket. Cryo Fuel is three times more efficient, requiring one bucket per launch versus three buckets of refined fuel. If you have a Cryofreezer set up from your Mars run, a stock of Ice Shards will cover several round trips.
Be careful when engaging clusters of Zombified Pygros. Like Piglins, attacking one aggros nearby companions. Pick them off from range first or lure one away from the group before switching to melee.
Calorite is the key to unlocking the rest of the mod. Smelt your Raw Calorite into Calorite Ingots and work toward the Tier 4 Rocket using Calorite components. You will also need Calorite Plates and a Calorite Engine to craft the Jet Suit. Gather more Calorite than you think you need on your first trip.
Explore the Venus Wastelands biome thoroughly to find Pygro Villages and Pygro Towers. These structures contain Pygros that drop useful loot, and the village barrels contain supplies worth collecting. Use /locate commands to find them quickly.
FAQ
No. The regular Space Suit provides oxygen and freeze protection but does not protect against extreme heat. On Venus, the ambient temperature is 464°C, which causes continuous burn damage to any entity without heat resistance. You need the full Netherite Space Suit set or an active Fire Resistance potion to avoid burning.
Calorite crafts into the Tier 4 Rocket, which can travel to Glacio and the Proxima Centauri solar system. You also need it to build the Jet Suit, the most powerful armor set in the mod, which provides powered flight in addition to heat and oxygen protection. Both items require Calorite Ingots processed into Calorite Plates and other components.
Not on the surface. Venus has a solar power rating of 8 FE/t on the ground, the lowest of any planet in the solar system, because thick cloud cover blocks sunlight. Solar Panels in Venus Orbit generate 48 FE/t, which is excellent. Place your panels on a Space Station in Venus Orbit instead of on the planet itself for effective solar energy.
Venus Calorite Ore spawns in both the Venus Wastelands and Infernal Venus Barrens biomes between Y -80 and Y 80, with 8 veins per chunk and a vein size of up to 8 blocks. There is also Deepslate Calorite Ore in the Overworld, but it is much rarer. Mine at Y 0 for the most consistent results since exposed veins have a 50% discard chance.
Yes. Beds function normally on Venus and will not explode. You can sleep to skip the night and set your spawn point, which distinguishes Venus from the Nether. Respawn Anchors do not work on Venus, so beds are your only spawn point option.
Three mobs spawn naturally on Venus: Moglers (pig-like creatures, groups of 1 to 3), Sulfur Creepers (Venus Creeper variant, groups of 1 to 3), and Zombified Pygros (undead Pygros, groups of 1 to 2). All three spawn in both biomes at equal rates. Pygros also appear as pre-placed mobs inside Pygro Villages and Pygro Towers, but they do not spawn naturally in the wild.
Venus has three structures, all generating in the Venus Wastelands biome only: the Venus Bullet (spacing 27, separation 14), Pygro Village (spacing 24, separation 17), and Pygro Tower (spacing 29, separation 19). The Pygro Village and Pygro Tower contain pre-placed Pygro mobs that attack on sight, so approach these structures prepared for combat.
