Overview

The Seeking Eye is a tracking tool in the Eternal Starlight mod that assists players in locating the mod’s two main bosses: the Lunar Monstrosity and the Starlight Golem. It operates similarly to the Vanilla Eye of Ender but requires specific setup and input items that correspond to each boss.

A magical eye that can be used to locate the ruins where the powerful creatures live. You need to hold a locator item, too, if you wish to find a specific structure. – The Starlight Story Book

Crafting the Seeking Eye

To craft a Seeking Eye, players must gather unique flowers found throughout the Eternal Starlight dimension. Combine an Ender Pearl with 8 Starlight Flower to craft the Seeking Eye. Starlight Flowers can be found on the surface of most biomes within the Eternal Stalight Dimension.

Seeking Eye Recipe

Exact recipes may vary depending on modpack configurations. The JEI interface can be used to confirm the necessary components. The crafted Seeking Eye is a reusable item that visually guides players toward boss structures.

An alternative method of obtaining the Seeking Eye involves killing the Thirst Walker mob. Each time they’re slain, they have a 20% chance of dropping the Seeking Eye.

Using the Seeking Eye

The Seeking Eye requires an additional item to function correctly, which must be held in the off-hand. This item serves as a key for selecting which boss the eye will track:

  • Lunar Monstrosity: Hold a Lunar Berry or Tenacious Vines
  • Starlight Golem: Hold Redstone Dust

Once the proper item is in the offhand, right-clicking with the Seeking Eye will cause it to float and move in the direction of the nearest appropriate boss structure. The eye does not break upon use and can be employed multiple times.

Using the Seeking Eye

However, it’s quite easy to lose, especially as it gets stuck in the Leaf Blocks of trees. For that reason, having multiple Seeking Eyes, and of the secondary item, is recommended.

Tracking Strategy

Boss locations can also be found organically, but the Seeking Eye significantly reduces the time required for exploration. Players should ensure they have flight or terrain navigation gear, especially when tracking the Starlight Golem, whose forge is often deep underground.

For the Lunar Monstrosity, the Cursed Garden is usually visible from a distance and easier to reach. In some modpacks, alternatives like the Explorer’s Compass may also be used, but the Seeking Eye remains the mod’s intended tracking method.

Limitations and Notes

The Seeking Eye will only work within the Eternal Starlight dimension. Attempting to use it in the Overworld or Nether will produce no result. The off-hand item must remain in place during activation, or the eye will fail to function.

The tool does not indicate distance or verticality, so players must often dig or fly to reach the target structure after the direction is revealed.
