Bosses

Starlight Golem

Estimated reading: 5 minutes

The Starlight Golem is one of the two central bosses in the Eternal Starlight dimension. This mechanical giant is situated deep within a unique structure known as the Golem Forge.

It is essential for progression in modpacks like All the Mods. The boss features a layered combat encounter that focuses on disabling environmental defenses before players can deal direct damage.

Locating the BOSS

To locate the Golem Forge, players need to use a Seeking Eye while holding Redstone Dust in their offhand. This combination will guide the player to the nearest Golem Forge structure.

Indication of a Golem Forge Below

Typically, these forges are marked by large circular formations of Voidstone on the surface, which can be seen from above. These indicate that a Golem Forge is directly below, and digging down here (in a safe manner) will eventually allow you to enter the dungeon; just be prepared to dig dozens of blocks.

Once inside these structures, players will discover a network of underground tunnels and chambers that ultimately lead to the boss arena. The structure is maze-like, with repetitive areas, so it’s quite likely that players will get lost.

Preparation

Preparation is crucial for surviving the Starlight Golem encounter. Players should equip themselves with high-tier armor, ideally enchanted with Protection V and durability enhancements.

Since the area includes cold-themed mobs like Freezes, wearing Leather Boots is helpful for reducing freezing effects. Additionally, utilizing flight and dashing abilities can significantly aid in avoiding environmental damage and effectively positioning during generator phases.

Freeze in the Golem Forge

While weapons are necessary, it’s essential to remember that damage to the Golem is only effective once its protective barrier is disabled.

Battle Mechanics

The Golem is protected by an energy shield connected to multiple generators throughout the arena. These generators emit visible beams of light toward the Golem. Remember their locations, and break any blocks around them to make them easier to disable, as these will help the Starlight Golem regenerate health.

To begin the damage phase, players must right-click on each generator to deactivate it. Once all are disabled, the Golem becomes temporarily vulnerable, allowing a window to deal damage before the shield resets.

Fighting the Starlight Golem

The battle alternates between shielded and vulnerable phases. During the shielded phase, players must dodge the Golem’s attacks while looking for active generators.

The Golem’s attacks consist of combustion blasts indicated by smoke on the ground, ground slams that send out shockwaves, and a powerful laser beam that can cause significant damage if not avoided. Successful survival during these assaults requires good timing and mobility.

A Deadly Laser Attack

During the damage phase, players should concentrate on dealing as much damage as possible before the shield reactivates. Strength and Speed potions help here.

Coordinating movement and attack cycles can significantly decrease the total number of phases needed. Ranged damage is most effective during the vulnerable state, particularly for players who can maintain altitude using flight gear.

Rewards

After its defeat, the Starlight Golem drops a loot bag that contains high-value materials. Oxidized Golem Steel is one of the most significant items, as it can be refined into usable Golem Steel for crafting armor and tools.

Starlight Golem Specific Loot

ITEM
AMOUNT
Oxidized Golem Steel Ingot
8 – 10 (100%)
Smithing Template
1 (100%)
Energy Sword
1 (50%)
Starlit Painting
1 (20%)

Additional rewards include unique Smithing Templates and various arrow types, such as Spectral and Amaramber. Players may also receive occasional drops of powerful uncraftable weapons. Additionally, participants are awarded decorative forge-themed blocks and a trophy to commemorate their achievement. These rewards are essential for crafting late-game components like the Chain of Souls.

Blazing Beam

Alongside items, players will also unlock the Blazing Beam spell, provided they have an Orb of Prophecy in their inventory. It can be toggled by pressing the H key, and activated by using a Blaze Crystal as fuel.

Hostile Neural Network Integration

Players can integrate the Golem into the Hostile Neural Network system by capturing its data model during combat. This allows for automated, prediction-based loot farming.

To create a basic-tier model, at least two defeats of the Golem are required. Once the model is trained, it can be placed in a simulation chamber to passively generate rewards, minimizing the need for repeated manual battles.

Additional Notes

Even after the boss is defeated, the Golem Forge remains a dangerous place. Hostile mobs continue to spawn, and environmental threats still exist.

However, the layout of the structure features open rooms that are perfect for future expansion, automation, or base construction. Additionally, oxidized blocks found throughout the forge can be harvested for decorative purposes.

Due to the precision required for the generator phase, players may need to try several times to refine their strategies. Placing respawn anchors or portals nearby can help make retries more efficient. The complexity and importance of this battle make it a standout moment in the Eternal Starlight mod experience.
