Tempad is a teleportation mod inspired by the TVA's technology from the Marvel Loki series. It introduces Timedoors, glowing portal doorways that connect two points in space, along with a suite of devices to power and manage them.
From the primitive Timedoor Projector to the fully-featured Tempad device and the timeline-tracking Time Twister, this mod offers a deep progression system for fast travel that rewards investment in its Chronon energy infrastructure.
Getting Started with Tempad
The very first thing to craft is
Time Steel, a material made from
Iron Ingots and
Netherite Scraps.
Time Steel is required for nearly every advanced device in the mod, so stockpiling it early is essential. Each craft produces two ingots from two Iron Ingots and two Netherite Scraps.
Before opening any Timedoors, a source of Chronon energy is needed. The entry-level power component is the
Chronon Cell, crafted from Iron Ingots,
Copper Ingots,
Redstone Dust, and an
Amethyst Shard.
Chronon Cells store 2,000 Chronons and automatically distribute power to all carried devices.
To charge cells and batteries, craft a
Chronon Generator. Carrying it in the inventory or a Curios slot passively generates Chronons that flow into nearby cells and devices. The generator has no internal storage and instead produces 1 Chronon every 2.4 seconds, pushing it directly to carried storage.
The recommended crafting order is: Time Steel, Chronon Cell,
Chronon Generator,
Timedoor Marker,
Location Card, then either a Timedoor Projector or the full Tempad. The Timedoor Projector requires no Time Steel and is a great early-game option.
Understanding Chronon Energy
Every teleportation device in Tempad consumes Chronons as fuel. Opening a single Timedoor costs 1,000 Chronons and keeps it open for 10 seconds. Keeping a Timedoor open longer through a
Workstation's redstone signal costs an additional 10 Chronons per second. Building a reliable Chronon supply is the backbone of the entire mod.
Storage Devices
The
Chronon Cell holds 2,000 Chronons and is the basic storage unit. Upgrading to a
Chronon Battery doubles capacity to 4,000 Chronons. Both items automatically transfer stored energy to all carried devices in the main inventory and Curios slots, prioritizing the hotbar from left to right.
Generation Devices
The
Chronon Generator is the cheapest option, requiring no Time Steel. The
Chronometer generates Chronons roughly 33% faster but needs Time Steel to craft. Both are carried in the inventory and have no internal storage.
Chronon Generator
Chronometer
Metronome
The
Metronome is the most powerful option but must be placed as a block. It generates 1 Chronon every 1.2 seconds and stores up to 6,000 Chronons internally. It requires a boot charge of 2,000 Chronons before it starts working. Crouch-right-click it with a charged Battery or Cell to provide the initial charge.
Placing multiple
Metronomes links them together in a network. Linked Metronomes combine their storage capacities and charge faster together. Three Metronomes provide 18,000 Chronons of combined storage and triple the generation speed.
Timedoor Projector

The
Timedoor Projector is the simplest way to open Timedoors and requires no Time Steel to craft. It has an internal Chronon capacity of 4,000 and works with Location Cards to create portals. It can be used two ways: held in hand (right-click to open a Timedoor) or placed as a block (triggered by a Redstone signal).
Setting Up Location Cards
Before using any teleportation device, a destination must be established. Place a
Timedoor Marker or
Chronomark at the target location, then right-click it with a blank
Location Card to write the coordinates. Right-clicking the marker with an empty hand opens a configuration screen where the device name, Timedoor color, and security settings can be adjusted.
The
Chronomark is an upgraded version of the Timedoor Marker. It supports a portal offset of up to 5 blocks in any direction, allowing the marker to be hidden underground or mounted on a ceiling while the Timedoor appears at a different height. It also provides team-based access filtering when compatible mods like FTB Teams or Cadmus are installed.

To load a written Location Card into the Timedoor Projector, right-click the card onto the device. When held in hand, right-click again to open the portal. When placed, apply a Redstone signal. The Timedoor appears roughly 3 blocks in front of the device and stays open for 10 seconds, consuming 1,000 Chronons.
The Tempad
The
Tempad is the centerpiece of the mod. It stores 6,000 Chronons internally and provides a full app-based interface for managing locations, teleporting, and configuring settings. Unlike the Timedoor Projector, the Tempad automatically detects all Timedoor Markers and Chronomarks owned by the player, making Location Cards optional for personal travel.
Tempad Apps
The Tempad also supports a macro keybind. Once configured in the Settings app, pressing the assigned key instantly opens a Timedoor to the pinned location without opening the full interface. This keybind can be set in Controls under the Tempad category.

A
Card Wallet can store multiple Location Cards and integrates automatically with the Tempad. When carried in a Curios slot or the inventory, the Tempad displays all wallet entries alongside its own saved locations. This is particularly useful for sharing locations between players, since cards from other players only work through the Tempad when stored in a carried wallet.
Workstation and Upgrades
The
Workstation is a two-part block that serves as a docking station for the Tempad and a stationary Timedoor terminal. Right-click the docking pad with a Tempad to dock it, which unlocks the cassette slot for upgrade tapes and enables the Portal Setup app on the terminal screen.
Upgrade Tapes
Upgrade tapes are installed by right-clicking them into the cassette slot on the back of the Workstation while a Tempad is docked. Each upgrade permanently adds new functionality to that specific Tempad. Three upgrade tapes are available:

Portal Setup App
When a Tempad is docked and the terminal receives a Redstone signal, it opens a Timedoor to the selected destination. The Portal Setup app allows fine-tuning the Timedoor's position and rotation up to 5 blocks in any direction, as well as toggling whether the portal is upright or flat on the ground. A constant Redstone signal keeps the Timedoor open indefinitely at a cost of 10 Chronons per second.
Time Twister
The
Time Twister tracks the player's personal timeline and allows backtracking to previous locations. It records dimension changes and death events, presenting them on a radial display. Selecting a point teleports the player back to that location and erases all timeline entries after the chosen point.
The Time Twister holds 3,000 Chronons and costs 500 Chronons per backtrack. It can be used standalone or docked into a Tempad by right-clicking the Tempad with it. When docked, it unlocks the Travel Timeline app, which provides a more detailed minute-by-minute view of the player's movements rather than just major events like dimension changes.
Store a Time Twister in an
Ender Chest. If you die and lose your items, retrieve it from the Ender Chest and backtrack to your death location. This works across dimensions and is one of the most reliable item recovery methods available.
Multiplayer Features
Tempad includes a player tracking system for multiplayer servers. The
Location Broadcaster is a handheld device that, when toggled on and carried in the inventory, makes the holder visible in the Teleport app of any Tempad with the
Player Teleport upgrade installed. Right-clicking it toggles between active (green screen) and inactive (red screen).
The
Screening Device is an advanced version of the
Location Broadcaster that adds team-based filtering. When compatible mods are installed (FTB Teams, Cadmus, or similar), it can restrict which players are allowed to teleport to the holder, cycling through modes like "Just you," "Everyone," "Guildmates," "Party members," and "Team."
Tips for Success
Use the Curios belt slot for the Card Wallet and arm slots for generators. Equipment placed in Curios slots still functions for Chronon distribution and wallet detection, keeping the main inventory clear. The Tempad macro keybind is also worth setting up early; it lets you instantly open a Timedoor to your pinned location with a single keypress.
Location Cards can be wiped by placing them in a crafting grid alone, allowing them to be rewritten at new locations. The same applies to Timedoor Markers and Chronomarks. On multiplayer servers, keep the Location Broadcaster turned off unless you specifically want other players to teleport to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Carry a Chronon Generator or in your inventory alongside a Chronon Cell or Battery. The generator passively produces Chronons, which the cell stores, and the cell then distributes power to all other carried devices. For faster charging, place Metronomes in the world and use their interface to charge cells directly.
The Timedoor Projector is a primitive device that only works with Location Cards, has 4,000 Chronon capacity, and no upgrade system. The Tempad holds 6,000 Chronons, automatically detects owned markers, has a full app interface, supports upgrade tapes, and can dock a Time Twister for timeline tracking. The Projector requires no Time Steel, making it the better early-game option.
The Metronome requires a boot charge of 2,000 Chronons before it activates. Hold a charged Chronon Cell or Battery and crouch-right-click the Metronome to provide the initial charge. Once booted, it will begin generating Chronons on its own.
Yes. Tempad supports interdimensional travel by default. Both the Timedoor Projector and the Tempad can open Timedoors to markers placed in other dimensions. The Time Twister also tracks dimension changes and can backtrack across dimensions. Server operators can disable interdimensional travel in the mod's config if needed.
The Time Twister records your death location on its timeline. After respawning, using the Time Twister shows your death point as a selectable entry. Selecting it opens a Timedoor directly to where you died. It does not restore items magically; it teleports you to the location so you can pick them up. Store a backup Time Twister in an Ender Chest to ensure access after death.
Write a Location Card at a marker, then give the card to another player. They must place it in a Card Wallet carried in their inventory for it to appear in their Tempad. Alternatively, cards from other players work directly with the Timedoor Projector without needing a wallet.
