Captain Cornelia is the main boss mob in the Aquamirae mod for Minecraft. As the central antagonist of the mod’s lore, she is depicted as a spectral entity known as the Ghost of Captain Cornelia.
Players encounter this boss by meeting specific summoning conditions within the Ice Maze biome. Defeating Captain Cornelia is essential for obtaining exclusive loot, unlocking powerful gameplay features, and accessing the mod’s most valuable containers, the Frozen Chests.
These ships are not just background elements; they play a crucial role in the progression, storytelling, and challenges of the Aquamirae mod. This post is part of our larger Aquamirae Wiki.
Summoning Conditions
To summon Captain Cornelia, players must first find a Ship structure located within the Ice Maze. Inside the captain’s quarters of the ship, there is a Pillager who holds a unique item called the Shell Horn. Defeat this pillager to obtain the Shell Horn, which can then be used to summon Cornelia.

However, this summoning can only occur under specific circumstances. Players must be located within the Ice Maze biome, have water nearby, and be above ground level. Attempting to use the Shell Horn outside these conditions will not trigger the boss event.
Battle Mechanics
When the Shell Horn is activated, Captain Cornelia will rise from the water, and unique boss music starts playing. A custom health bar for the boss appears, marking the beginning of the encounter. Captain Cornelia is a powerful adversary with a range of specialized abilities and resistance to standard combat strategies.

She is immune to all ranged attacks, making melee combat the only viable method of dealing damage. Melee weapons are particularly effective, especially those from the Seawolf weapon class. Shields are highly recommended, as Cornelia attacks quickly and deals significant melee damage.
In total, Captain Cornelia has 200 HP in total, though this will regenerate multiple times throughout the battle. Cornelia’s combat pattern is divided into distinct phases, each introducing new threats and increasing difficulty:
Phase One: Initiation
In the early moments of the battle, Cornelia employs quick melee strikes to test the player’s reflexes. This phase gives players the opportunity to assess her movement speed and resistance. Although her damage is initially high, her attack speed and unpredictability increase as the fight continues.
It’s difficult to create distance between yourself and Captain Cornelia, as she can summon players to her, with them slipping along the ice, or she’ll also charge at the player. Depending on the area around the player, they may be knocked into the icy waters, which are inhabited by hostile Anglerfish, so players should be wary of that.

On spawn, Captain Cornelia can also give herself the Levitation effect, which will cause mobs (and players) around her also to levitate.
Phase Two: First Regeneration
The first phase will end once Captain Cornelia reaches 20% HP. Then, she will levitate, also causing the player to spin around her. While doing this, Captain Cornelia will regenerate her health back to 100% (200 HP).

During this transition, she summons three poison chakrams that orbit the area, inflicting poison and contact damage. Players must avoid these chakrams while preparing for a second assault. Cornelia will only regenerate in this manner twice during the entire fight.
Phase Three: Sustained Regeneration
When Cornelia’s health is reduced to 5%, she enters a final defensive phase. During this phase, she passively regenerates health at a rate of 5% to 7%, making it difficult to secure a kill unless a weakness debuff is applied.
To effectively overcome her healing abilities, you will need to use high-burst melee weapons, such as the Terrible Sword, especially without this debuff. It’s essential to bring a Splash Potion of Weakness to the battle; otherwise, achieving victory will be significantly more challenging.
Environmental factors, such as icy terrain and proximity to water, increase the challenge. Players must stay mobile, maintain their weapon durability, and manage debuffs such as blindness or poison from summoned entities.
Strategies for Defeating Cornelia
Success in the Cornelia fight relies heavily on preparation and tactical awareness. Players should enter the battle equipped with high-tier melee weapons and full armor sets from Aquamirae, particularly the Seawolf or Abyssal classes.
Applying a weakness debuff before entering the final phase can be crucial, as it nullifies her passive regeneration. Using potions for Strength, Resistance, and Regeneration enhances survivability and increases burst damage potential. Additionally, food buffs from items such as Sea Stew or Poseidon Breakfast further improve combat effectiveness.
Avoiding chakrams during regeneration phases requires mobility and spatial awareness. Positioning near cover or elevated terrain can reduce the chance of repeated poison effects. Shields should be used consistently, especially when Cornelia dashes or attempts rapid strikes.
The Terrible Sword is particularly effective due to its ability to deal high critical melee damage. When used carefully, it can bypass her regeneration cycles, enabling players to complete the encounter efficiently. As Captain Cornelia regenerates health for each hit, it’s advisable to dodge as many attacks as possible.
Rewards
Defeating Captain Cornelia rewards players with several rare and powerful items. Most notably, she drops the Frozen Key, which is the only item capable of opening the Frozen Chests found throughout the Ice Maze. These chests cannot be broken or opened by any other means.
Additionally, Cornelia drops the Three-Bolt Helmet, a crucial component of the Three-Bolt Armor set. This helmet cannot be crafted and grants players the ability to traverse underwater sections of the Ice Maze without freezing.

There is also a slight chance for Captain Cornelia to drop the Coral Lance or the Sweet Lance. The Coral Lance enhances Seawolf-class armor abilities and deals double damage to Ice Maze creatures, while the Sweet Lance is a seasonal variant available during December and January, offering the unique trait of being consumable without being destroyed.
The chances of receiving the Coral Lance are left unknown, though it’s extremely low. During the festive period, the Coral Lance turns into the Sweet Lance. Finally, Captain Cornelia also drops a map that leads to a nearby Shelter, where the Frozen Chest can be found and opened.
