Invisibility Cloak

Estimated reading: 8 minutes

The Invisibility Cloak is a Relic added by Reliquified Twilight Forest, an addon that brings the Relics mod’s leveling and ability system to Twilight Forest-themed items. This mysterious garment offers the ultimate stealth package – not only does it hide your armor from view, but if you stay still long enough, you become completely invisible to enemies and other players alike.

Relics use Curios slots – special equipment slots added by the Curios mod that let you wear accessories alongside your regular armor. You can find Relics in loot chests throughout the world, with each one appearing in specific structures based on its theme. Once you find a Relic, you can upgrade it using experience to unlock stronger abilities and better stats.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Invisibility Cloak, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.

Obtaining

A strange thing – stare at it long enough and it… starts vanishing? Hard to imagine why the emperor needed such a cloak… This Relic is equipped in the Back slot.

The Invisibility Cloak can be found in chests within Hedge Mazes scattered throughout the Twilight Forest dimension. These sprawling garden labyrinths are guarded by hostile Hedge Spiders and contain multiple treasure chests for those who can navigate them. There is a 2.5% chance for this Relic to appear in each eligible chest.

Relic Quality & Rerolling

Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.

Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 100 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.

Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 150 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 350 Experience.

To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.

Usage

The Invisibility Cloak provides two distinct stealth benefits that work in tandem. First, it automatically hides your armor – the moment you equip it, your chestplate, leggings, boots, and helmet become invisible to other players and to yourself in third-person view. You keep all the protection, but look like you’re wearing nothing. Second, if you stand completely still or crouch without moving for a few seconds, you become fully invisible.

The invisibility effect triggers after remaining stationary or sneaking for the duration shown on your stat (starting at around 5-8 seconds). You’ll notice the Vanishing effect appear in your status bar, and then your entire character fades from view – including held items and any equipped accessories. The invisibility breaks instantly if you move, attack, or take damage, so it’s best used for ambushes or avoiding detection rather than active combat.

The armor-hiding feature is purely cosmetic but surprisingly useful. Want to show off your skin in multiplayer without sacrificing protection? Wear your best armor under this cloak and nobody will see it. The effect works with any armor type, including modded sets with elaborate textures. This makes the Invisibility Cloak popular among players who prioritize fashion alongside function.

Compared to a vanilla Potion of Invisibility, this cloak is more situational but has advantages. Potions require brewing ingredients and have limited duration, while the cloak works infinitely as long as you stay still. However, potions let you move while invisible – the cloak doesn’t. Think of this as a “hide in plain sight” tool rather than a combat mobility option. It’s perfect for waiting out danger, observing enemy patterns, or getting the first strike in PvP.

Abilities

The Invisibility Cloak has 2 abilities: Imperial Attire and Camouflage. With a maximum Relic level of 5, you can earn up to 5 Upgrade Points to distribute across these abilities.

Imperial Attire is a passive ability that works immediately with no upgrades. Camouflage is available at level 0 and can be upgraded to reduce the time required to become invisible.

1

Imperial Attire

Hides the appearance of equipped armor.

Imperial Attire is a simple but elegant passive ability. The moment you equip the Invisibility Cloak, all your armor pieces become visually invisible – helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots simply disappear from view. You (and others) can still see your character’s skin and any non-armor cosmetics, but the bulky armor sprites are gone. The effect even persists in third-person view.

This ability has no stats to upgrade – it works at full effectiveness immediately. The reference to “the emperor” is a nod to “The Emperor’s New Clothes” fairy tale, where an emperor was tricked into believing invisible clothes made him look magnificent. Unlike that story, this cloak actually provides the protection it promises – your armor stats remain fully functional despite being hidden.

Imperial Attire has no upgrade levels – it is always active at full power.

2

Camouflage

Grants full invisibility after remaining completely still or sneaking without interruption for at least X seconds.

Camouflage is the cloak’s signature active ability. Stop moving completely or hold crouch while stationary, and after the duration passes, you become fully invisible. The game checks your movement each tick – any motion resets the timer. Once invisible, you gain the Vanishing effect which lasts indefinitely until you move, attack, or take damage.

At base level, you’ll need to wait 5-8 seconds before invisibility kicks in. Each upgrade point reduces this threshold, letting you achieve stealth more quickly. At maximum level, the wait drops to around 2 seconds – practically instant for most situations. Prioritize this stat to make the cloak more responsive and practical in real gameplay scenarios. The faster you can go invisible, the more useful it becomes for ambushes and evasion.

Camouflage unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 1 Upgrade Point(s) per level, with a maximum ability level of 5.

Experience Sources

Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Invisibility Cloak offers 1 different way to earn Relic Experience.

You gain Relic Experience each time the Camouflage ability activates – that is, every time you successfully become invisible after standing still. Each activation grants +1 Relic Experience. Since invisibility breaks when you move, you’ll gain XP by repeatedly entering and exiting the invisible state. The most efficient leveling involves standing still until invisible, taking one step to break it, then standing still again.

Like all Relics, the Invisibility Cloak benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.

Experience Spreading

Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.

Leveling

The Invisibility Cloak has a maximum level of 5, providing 5 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Minecraft Experience, as shown in the table below.

Reaching level 5 requires a total of 1,500 Minecraft Experience, equivalent to approximately 31 player levels.

Leveling Strategy

Since Imperial Attire has no upgrades, all 5 points go into Camouflage’s duration reduction. Each point makes a noticeable difference – the gap between 8 seconds and 2 seconds completely changes how practical the invisibility is. At 8 seconds, you’re standing around waiting to hide; at 2 seconds, you can duck behind a corner and vanish almost instantly. This relic levels slowly since XP is gained one activation at a time, but the payoff is worth it for stealth-focused players.

Related Relics

Works Well With: The Scarf of Invisibility from Artifacts compatibility provides invisibility while sneaking (with movement allowed), complementing the Invisibility Cloak’s stationary approach. The Midnight Robe from the core Relics mod offers darkness-based stealth that stacks nicely with full invisibility for maximum concealment.

Alternatives: If you want invisibility with movement, the Scarf of Invisibility lets you sneak while invisible but requires constant crouching. For purely cosmetic armor hiding without the stealth component, no direct alternative exists – the Invisibility Cloak is unique in offering both features. Vanilla Invisibility Potions provide mobile stealth but require brewing resources and have limited duration.

Config

Server operators and modpack creators can customize the Invisibility Cloak through configuration files. To enable per-Relic configuration, first set enabledExtendedConfigs: true in the main relics.yaml file located in your Minecraft config folder.

After restarting the game, a Relics folder will appear in the config directory. The Invisibility Cloak can be configured by editing invisibility_cloak.yaml.
