Springy Boot

Estimated reading: 9 minutes

The Springy Boot is one of over 30 unique Relics added by the Relics mod for Minecraft. Each Relic gives you powerful abilities that you can level up and customize, adding new gameplay options whether you’re just starting out or deep into the endgame.

Relics use Curios slots – special equipment slots added by the Curios mod that let you wear accessories alongside your regular armor. You can find Relics in loot Chests throughout the world, with each one appearing in specific biomes and structures based on its theme. Once you find a Relic, you can upgrade it using experience to unlock stronger abilities and better stats.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Springy Boot, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.

Obtaining

The Springy Boot grants extraordinary elasticity, allowing you to bounce off any solid surface. This Relic is worn on the Feet.

The Springy Boot can be found in chests located in mountainous and elevated biomes. This includes any biome with terms like Mountain, Peak, Summit, Ridge, Alp, Highland, Hill, Cliff, or Height in its name – perfect for a Relic designed for bouncing to great heights. There is a 2.5% chance for this Relic to appear in each eligible chest.

Relic Quality & Rerolling

Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.

Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 100 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.

Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 150 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 350 Experience.

To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.

Usage

Simply equip the Springy Boot in your Feet slot, and you’ll immediately start bouncing whenever you land on any solid block. The boot passively converts every surface into a bouncy trampoline – no activation required. For extra height on demand, you can toggle the ability while standing on the ground to launch yourself straight up.

Elasticity is measured as a percentage relative to Slime Blocks (which have 100% bounce). At base stats of 25-50%, you’ll get partial bounces that absorb some fall damage. At max level with 100% elasticity, every surface becomes a full Slime Block, bouncing you back to nearly the same height you fell from – effectively negating all fall damage.

The Springy Boot pairs exceptionally well with other mobility Relics. Combine it with the Cloud in a Bottle for additional mid-air jumps, or use the Bunny Hoppers‘ charged super jump to reach incredible heights, then let the Springy Boot cushion your landing. The active bounce ability is also useful for quickly reaching elevated positions or escaping ground-based enemies.

Unlike vanilla solutions like Water Buckets or Slime Blocks that require precise timing or placement, the Springy Boot works automatically on every landing. The satisfaction of fearlessly leaping off cliffs and bouncing right back up makes this an excellent choice for mountainous exploration – fitting given where you find it.

Abilities

The Springy Boot has 1 ability: Elasticity. With a maximum Relic level of 10, you can earn up to 10 Upgrade Points to invest in this ability.

Elasticity is available immediately at Relic level 0, so you can start bouncing the moment you equip the boot. Since there’s only one ability to upgrade, every Upgrade Point you earn goes directly into making your bounces stronger.

Elasticity

Elasticity ability from the Springy Boot

Increases the elasticity of all blocks by X% compared to Slime Blocks, enabling you to bounce off them upon landing. When activated on the ground, it launches you into the air.

When you land on any solid surface, you’ll bounce back up proportional to your elasticity percentage. At 50% base elasticity, you bounce back to roughly half the height you fell from. At 100% max elasticity, surfaces behave identically to Slime Blocks, returning you to nearly your original height. The toggle activation lets you use the bounce on demand – great for quickly gaining altitude when you need vertical mobility.

Since each level costs only 1 Upgrade Point and provides a 10% boost (via the MULTIPLY_BASE formula), the progression feels smooth and rewarding. At level 5, your max roll of 50% becomes 75% elasticity. By level 10, you reach the full 100% – double your starting bounce power. This makes fall damage a non-issue and opens up aggressive verticality in your exploration and combat.

Elasticity unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 1 Upgrade Point(s) per level, with a maximum ability level of 10.

Constellations

Before you can use an ability, it must first be researched. Each ability has a constellation puzzle that you need to solve by connecting stars hidden beneath fog. When the constellation matches the background pattern, the ability unlocks automatically.

Elasticity constellation puzzle for the Springy Boot

The Springy Boot has a single constellation puzzle for the Elasticity ability. The pattern forms a zigzag shape with 9 stars connected in a chain, reminiscent of a spring coil – fitting the boot’s bouncy theme.

Constellation Hints

If you’re stuck on a puzzle, you can purchase hints for 50 Minecraft Experience each. Alternatively, reveal the entire constellation instantly for 400 Experience.

Experience Sources

Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Springy Boot offers 1 different way to earn Relic Experience.

You earn +1 Relic Experience each time you bounce off a surface using the Elasticity ability. This happens automatically whenever you land, so simply exploring and bouncing around will steadily level up your boot. Jumping from heights and bouncing multiple times in quick succession is the fastest way to accumulate experience.

Like all Relics, the Springy Boot benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.

Experience Spreading

Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.

Leveling

The Springy Boot has a maximum level of 10, providing 10 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Minecraft Experience, as shown in the table below.

Reaching level 10 requires a total of 5,500 Minecraft Experience, equivalent to approximately 57 player levels.

Leveling Strategy

With only one ability to upgrade, your leveling path is straightforward – put every point into Elasticity. Prioritize reaching 50% elasticity quickly (around level 5 with a good roll) since that’s when fall damage becomes trivial. From there, push to 100% for full Slime Block behavior. The Springy Boot levels naturally through exploration, so wear it while traversing mountainous terrain and your bounces will rack up experience passively.

Related Relics

Works Well With: The Bunny Hoppers from Artifacts compatibility provide a charged super jump that pairs perfectly with the Springy Boot’s fall protection – launch yourself sky-high and bounce safely on landing. The Cloud in a Bottle adds extra mid-air jumps, giving you even more aerial control and height when combined with your bouncy landings.

Alternatives: If you’re looking for similar mobility options, the Bunny Hoppers focus more on active jumping power rather than passive bounce protection. For vanilla players, Slime Blocks and Water Buckets provide fall damage protection but require precise placement, unlike the Springy Boot’s automatic functionality.

Config

Server operators and modpack creators can customize the Springy Boot through configuration files. To enable per-Relic configuration, first set enabledExtendedConfigs: true in the main relics.yaml file located in your Minecraft config folder.

After restarting the game, a Relics folder will appear in the config directory. The Springy Boot can be configured by editing springy_boot.yaml.
