Magic Mirror
The
Magic Mirror is one of over 30 unique Relics added by the Relics mod for Minecraft. Each Relic gives you powerful abilities that you can level up and customize, adding new gameplay options whether you’re just starting out or deep into the endgame.
Relics use Curios slots – special equipment slots added by the Curios mod that let you wear accessories alongside your regular armor. You can find Relics in loot
Chests throughout the world, with each one appearing in specific biomes and structures based on its theme. Once you find a Relic, you can upgrade it using experience to unlock stronger abilities and better stats.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Magic Mirror, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.
Obtaining
The Magic Mirror grants you the power to teleport back to your spawn point from great distances, letting you escape dangerous situations or quickly return home after long expeditions. This Relic isn’t equipped, as it’s used while held in the main-hand.

The Magic Mirror can be found in cave-themed chests and Mineshaft loot. It spawns in any chest located within biomes containing Cave, Cavern, Grotto, Hollow, Den, Chamber, Crypt, or Subterranean in their name. Additionally, it appears in any chest with “mine” in the loot table name, including Abandoned Mineshafts. There is a 2.5% chance for this Relic to appear in each eligible chest.
Relic Quality & Rerolling
Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.
Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 50 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.
Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 100 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 300 Experience.
To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.
Usage
To use the Magic Mirror, hold it in your main hand and right-click to begin the teleportation channel. You’ll see colorful particle spirals swirl around you for about 2 seconds while the teleport charges. If you’re deep in a cave system or far from home after an expedition, this is your instant escape route back to your bed or
Respawn Anchor.
The teleport has a maximum distance limit shown in the Distance stat. At base values of 500-1,000 blocks, you can teleport from anywhere within that radius of your spawn point. Fully upgraded to 6,000 blocks, you can return home from several kilometers away. The cooldown starts at 60-120 seconds and drops to just 30 seconds at max level, so you can use it frequently during long mining sessions.
The Magic Mirror works across dimensions. If you’ve set a Respawn Anchor in the Nether, you can teleport back to it. This also works with modded dimensions, such as those in Twilight Forest. Just make sure you’re within the distance limit, which accounts for dimensional coordinate scaling (the Nether’s 8:1 ratio with the Overworld).
Unlike carrying stacks of
Ender Pearls or building Nether portals for quick travel, the Magic Mirror provides instant, reliable transportation with no inventory cost. The satisfaction of escaping certain death deep underground with a single right-click makes this one of the most valuable utility Relics, especially for players who love to explore.
Abilities
The Magic Mirror has 1 ability: Wormhole. With a maximum Relic level of 10, you can earn up to 10 Upgrade Points to distribute across this ability.
Wormhole unlocks immediately at Relic level 0, so you can start upgrading it as soon as you find the Magic Mirror.
Wormhole

Upon use, teleports the owner to their spawn point if it is within X blocks, then goes on cooldown for Y seconds.
Wormhole is the Magic Mirror’s core functionality. When you right-click, the mirror begins channeling for about 2 seconds – during this time, you’ll see dimension-colored particle effects spiral around you (blue for Overworld, red for Nether, purple for End). If you take damage during the channel, it cancels and puts the mirror on a brief 1-second cooldown. Once the channel completes, you’re instantly teleported to your spawn point.
Focus all 10 of your Upgrade Points into Wormhole. At max level, you gain 6,000 blocks of range (enough to cover most exploration distances) and a 30-second cooldown. The shorter cooldown is particularly valuable – you can use the mirror, explore for half a minute, and have it ready again. For cave exploration, this transforms the mirror from an emergency escape into a regular commuting tool between your base and mining sites.
Wormhole unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 1 Upgrade Point(s) per level, with a maximum ability level of 10.

Experience Sources
Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Magic Mirror offers 1 different way to earn Relic Experience.
You gain Relic Experience each time you successfully teleport with Wormhole. The amount scales with how far you traveled: you receive 1 base XP plus 1 additional XP for every 50 blocks between you and your spawn point. Teleporting from the maximum 6,000-block range at max level grants 121 Relic Experience per use – a substantial amount that makes the Magic Mirror relatively fast to level through regular use.
Like all Relics, the Magic Mirror benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.
Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.
Leveling
The Magic Mirror has a maximum level of 10, providing 10 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Minecraft Experience, as shown in the table below.
XP Cost
Total XP
Reaching level 10 requires a total of 10,000 Minecraft Experience, equivalent to approximately 79 player levels.
Since the Magic Mirror only has one ability, leveling is straightforward: put every point into Wormhole. Prioritize Distance upgrades early to extend your usable range, then appreciate the cooldown reduction as you level further.
The mirror levels itself naturally through use – just teleport from as far away as possible each time to maximize XP gains. By the time you hit max level, the 30-second cooldown turns this from an emergency tool into an everyday fast-travel solution.

Works Well With: The
Chorus Inhibitor provides short-range teleportation using
chorus fruit mechanics, complementing the Magic Mirror’s long-range return-to-spawn function. The
Ender Hand adds telekinesis and Ender Pearl manipulation for mid-range mobility. Together, these three relics give you teleportation options at every distance.
Alternatives: The Magic Mirror is unique in its spawn-return functionality. For general teleportation, consider the
Space Dissector, which creates portals between two points you choose, or the
Spatial Sign, which records your path and returns you along the route.
Config
Server operators and modpack creators can customize the Magic Mirror through configuration files. To enable per-Relic configuration, first set enabledExtendedConfigs: true in the main relics.yaml file located in your Minecraft config folder.
After restarting the game, a Relics folder will appear in the config directory. The Magic Mirror can be configured by editing magic_mirror.yaml.
