Leather Belt
The
Leather Belt is one of over 30 unique Relics added by the Relics mod for Minecraft. Each Relic gives you powerful abilities that you can level up and customize, adding new gameplay options whether you’re just starting out or deep into the endgame.
Relics use Curios slots – special equipment slots added by the Curios mod that let you wear accessories alongside your regular armor. You can find Relics in loot
chests throughout the world, with each one appearing in specific biomes and structures based on its theme. Once you find a Relic, you can upgrade it using experience to unlock stronger abilities and better stats.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Leather Belt, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.
Obtaining
The Leather Belt expands your accessory capacity by adding extra Charm slots, letting you equip more utility items at once. This Relic is equipped in the Belt slot.

The Leather Belt can be found in any chest throughout the Overworld dimension. It has a relatively low spawn weight, making it more common than most other Relics. You might find it in Village houses, Dungeons, Mineshafts, or any other structure with loot chests.
Relic Quality & Rerolling
Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.
Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 100 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.
Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 150 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 350 Experience.
To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.
Usage
Once you equip the Leather Belt in your Belt slot, you immediately gain extra Charm slots in your Curios inventory. Charm slots are special accessory slots that hold small utility items, such as the
Spore Sack,
Crystal Heart, or
Cloud in a Bottle. By default, you have only one Charm slot, limiting how many utility accessories you can use at once.
At base values, the Leather Belt provides 1-3 additional Charm slots depending on your initial roll. A perfect roll of 3 extra slots quadruples your charm capacity right from the start. Fully upgraded, you can reach up to 8 additional slots, giving you 9 total Charm slots when combined with your default slot.

The Leather Belt is a “force multiplier” – it doesn’t do anything by itself, but it dramatically increases what your other Relics can do by letting you equip more of them. If you’re running the Artifacts compatibility addon, you suddenly have room for the
Obsidian Skull, Crystal Heart, Cloud in a Bottle, and several other charms all at once. The more charm-slot Relics you collect, the more valuable this belt becomes.
Unlike other Belt Relics like the
Hunter Belt or
Drowned Belt which provide specific combat bonuses, the Leather Belt is pure utility. It won’t help you in a fight directly, but being able to stack multiple passive effects from charm accessories can make a huge difference in your overall power level.
Abilities
The Leather Belt has 1 ability: Load Capacity. With a maximum Relic level of 10, you can earn up to 10 Upgrade Points to distribute across this ability.
Load Capacity unlocks immediately at Relic level 0, so you can start upgrading it as soon as you find the Leather Belt.
Load Capacity

Increases the maximum number of amulet equipment slots by +X.
Load Capacity is the Leather Belt’s only ability and its entire purpose. Each upgrade adds one more Charm slot to your inventory, letting you equip additional accessories. The tooltip says “amulet” slots, but in practice these are Charm-type Curios slots that work with any item tagged as a charm.
Since Load Capacity costs 2 Upgrade Points per level, you can raise it 5 times with your 10 available points. Each level adds +1 slot, so at max upgrade you gain 5 additional slots on top of your base roll. Getting a high initial roll (3 slots) is valuable because upgrades add to it – a 3-slot base becomes 8 slots at max level, while a 1-slot base only reaches 6 slots. This makes rerolling for a good base stat worthwhile if you plan to invest heavily in this Relic.
Load Capacity unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 2 Upgrade Point(s) per level, with a maximum ability level of 5.

Experience Sources
Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Leather Belt offers 1 different way to earn Relic Experience.
You gain 1 Relic Experience whenever any charm you have equipped gains experience. This creates a synergy where your other charms level up the Leather Belt passively as you use them. The more charms you equip (thanks to the extra slots from this belt), the faster it levels – each charm earning XP gives the belt 1 point. If you have 5 active charms all earning experience, the Leather Belt gains 5 XP for every action that triggers those charms.
Like all Relics, the Leather Belt benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.
Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.
Leveling
The Leather Belt has a maximum level of 10, providing 10 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Minecraft Experience, as shown in the table below.
XP Cost
Total XP
Reaching level 10 requires a total of 5,500 Minecraft Experience, equivalent to approximately 55 player levels.
The Leather Belt levels passively as your charms gain experience, so there’s no special farming technique needed. Equip as many active charms as you can – each one earning XP feeds experience back to the belt. Prioritize getting at least 2 levels early (4 points) to unlock the first two Load Capacity upgrades, which immediately give you more slots for more charms. This creates a positive feedback loop: more slots means more charms, which means faster leveling.
Related Relics
Works Well With: Every Charm-slot Relic benefits from the Leather Belt. The
Spore Sack,
Crystal Heart,
Cloud in a Bottle, and
Obsidian Skull are all excellent choices to fill your expanded slots. The more charm-type Relics you collect, the more valuable the Leather Belt becomes.
Alternatives: The
Hunter Belt and
Drowned Belt also use the Belt slot but provide combat bonuses instead of extra accessory slots. Choose the Leather Belt if you want to stack multiple charms, or pick a specialized belt if you prefer direct combat benefits.
Config
Server operators and modpack creators can customize the Leather Belt through configuration files. To enable per-Relic configuration, first set enabledExtendedConfigs: true in the main relics.yaml file located in your Minecraft config folder.
After restarting the game, a Relics folder will appear in the config directory. The Leather Belt can be configured by editing leather_belt.yaml.
