Fire Gauntlet
The
Fire Gauntlet is a Relic added by Reliquified Artifacts, an addon that brings the Relics mod’s leveling and ability system to Artifacts items. Slip them on and every melee strike releases homing fire sparks that chase down nearby enemies, igniting them with bonus fire damage on top of your regular hits.
The Fire Gauntlet is worn on the Hands slot, one of the additional equipment slots added by the Curios API mod. Curios expands your inventory beyond the standard armor grid, and the Artifacts mod fills those extra slots with unique items like this one. RAR-Compat then layers the Relic progression system on top, adding levels, abilities, and upgrades.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Fire Gauntlet, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.
The Fire Gauntlet requires both the Artifacts mod and the RAR-Compat (Reliquified Artifacts) addon to be installed. The Artifacts mod provides the base item, while RAR-Compat adds the Relic leveling system, abilities, and stats on top of it.
Obtaining
Grants the relic bearer’s weapon the powers of the fire element. This Relic is worn on the Hands.

The Fire Gauntlet can be found in fire-themed
chests across any dimension and any chest found inside the Nether. Chests from Nether Fortresses, Bastions, and Ruined Portals qualify, as do any structures using loot tables with fire-related keywords such as nether, lava, blaze, flame, or ember. Fire-themed chests carry this Relic with a spawn weight of 500, while general Nether chests carry it at a lower spawn weight of 100.
Relic Quality & Rerolling
Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.
Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 50 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.
Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 100 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 300 Experience.
To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.
Usage
The Fire Gauntlet is fully passive once equipped and the Fire Wave constellation is solved. Every melee hit you land automatically rolls against your spark chance stat, and any sparks that trigger home in on the nearest visible enemies within your block interaction range. No button presses or toggles required.
The number of sparks per attack is decided through cascading chance rolls: the game checks your chance stat, and each success spawns one spark before rolling again. The chain continues until one roll fails, so a single attack can produce zero sparks or several. At the base 20-30% chance you will often get zero or one spark per swing. As you upgrade toward the 75% cap, the expected average climbs to around 4 sparks per attack, and multi-spark volleys become the norm rather than the exception.
Each spark deals a percentage of your base attack damage and applies fire for the rolled duration. Because damage scales directly with your weapon, equipping the Fire Gauntlet alongside a high-damage weapon amplifies every spark that fires. Fast weapons that attack frequently generate more spark rolls per second, making rapid attack speeds particularly efficient at accumulating fire damage.
Since sparks can split across multiple visible targets in the same volley, the Fire Gauntlet is especially strong against groups. A single attack can ignite several enemies at once, making it naturally effective during Nether exploration, where it spawns and where dense pockets of hostile mobs make multi-target volleys common.
Abilities
The Fire Gauntlet has 1 ability: Fire Wave. With a maximum Relic level of 10, you can earn up to 10 Upgrade Points to spend on this ability.
Fire Wave is available immediately and requires no Relic levels to unlock. It costs 1 Upgrade Point per level and can reach a maximum ability level of 10.
Fire Wave

When attacking, releases several sparks that home in on nearby targets, igniting them for X seconds and dealing Y% of the performed attack’s damage. The number of sparks is determined through repeated checks of a Z% chance. Each successful check releases one additional spark, but the process stops as soon as the chance fails even once.
Think of each attack as a chain of coin flips against your Z chance stat. At the base 20-30%, roughly one in four attacks produces even a single spark, so the early game feels inconsistent. Once Z reaches 75% at max level, about 75% of attacks yield at least one spark, 56% yield at least two, and 42% yield at least three. Sparks are capped by the number of visible targets nearby, so fighting groups lets you see the full benefit of high chance values.
Every spark that connects deals Y% of your weapon damage and applies fire for X seconds. At the base roll you get 1.5 to 2.5 seconds of ignite and 5 to 15% damage per spark. At max level both reach their ceiling: 10 seconds of fire and 50% of your attack damage per spark. Because all three stats scale with Upgrade Points, spend your first points on Chance to increase how often you trigger multi-spark volleys, then shift into Damage once you’re reliably firing two or more sparks per hit.
Fire Wave unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 1 Upgrade Point per level, with a maximum ability level of 10.

Constellations
Before you can use an ability, it must first be researched. Each ability has a constellation puzzle that you need to solve by connecting stars hidden beneath fog. When the constellation matches the background pattern, the ability unlocks automatically.

Above is the constellation for the Fire Gauntlet’s Fire Wave ability. It contains 7 stars arranged in a hub-and-spoke pattern: one outer star links to a central hub, and five additional stars branch outward from that hub. Connecting all 7 stars in the correct pattern unlocks the Fire Wave ability.
If you’re stuck on a puzzle, you can purchase hints for 50 Minecraft Experience each. Alternatively, reveal the entire constellation instantly for 350 Minecraft Experience (7 hints at 50 each).
Experience Sources
Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Fire Gauntlet offers 1 way to earn Relic Experience.
The only way to gain Relic Experience with the Fire Gauntlet is through active combat using the Fire Wave ability. Each time a fire spark hits a target, you earn +1 Relic Experience. Because a single attack can trigger multiple sparks when the cascade rolls succeed, you can earn several experience points from one swing when multiple sparks connect in the same volley. Fighting groups of enemies maximizes this, as more nearby targets means more sparks can fire and land.
Like all Relics, the Fire Gauntlet benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.
Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.
Leveling
The Fire Gauntlet has a maximum level of 10, providing 10 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Minecraft Experience, as shown in the table below.
XP Cost
Total XP
Reaching level 10 requires a total of 5,500 Minecraft Experience, equivalent to approximately 50 player levels.
The Fire Gauntlet levels itself as long as you keep fighting. Equip it early and stay in combat to let spark hits accumulate experience at a steady rate. Spend your first Upgrade Points on Chance to increase how often you get multi-spark volleys per attack.
Once Z reaches around 50%, you will regularly see two or more sparks per hit, at which point shifting points into Damage starts multiplying your total output significantly. Duration is useful for boss encounters where extended burn persistence adds meaningful damage, but it is the lowest priority of the three stats for general use.
Related Relics
The
Flame Pendant (necklace, Artifacts compat) is a strong companion: when an enemy hits you, the pendant ignites your attacker, so enemies burn from both offensive sparks on your end and defensive retaliation on theirs. The
Magma Walker (feet, Relics core) rounds out a fire-focused build by granting fire resistance and the ability to walk on lava, which is directly relevant for farming the Fire Gauntlet in the Nether environments where it spawns.
If you can’t find the Fire Gauntlet, the
Feral Claws (hands, Artifacts compat) are the strongest alternative in the same slot, stacking attack speed on consecutive hits to increase your overall damage output through raw hit frequency. The
Vampiric Glove (hands, Artifacts compat) takes a different angle by granting life steal on every melee hit, trading the Fire Gauntlet’s offensive fire damage for sustained survivability in extended fights.
Config
To edit the configuration for an Artifact-compatible Relic, update the enabledExtendedConfigs: false option within relics.yaml in your Minecraft config folder by changing the value to true.
After relaunching Minecraft, a rarcompat folder will appear in the config directory. Inside, look for and edit fire_gauntlet.yaml.
