Bunny Hoppers

Estimated reading: 10 minutes

The Bunny Hoppers is a Relic added by Reliquified Artifacts, an addon that brings the Relics mod’s leveling and ability system to Artifacts items. When you jump and hold the jump key, the Bunny Hoppers rocket you upward in a burst of sparkling particles, letting you reach heights far beyond a normal leap.

The Bunny Hoppers are a pair of animated rabbit-themed boots from the Artifacts mod. Unlike most movement footwear, they reward active input: after you leave the ground, holding the jump key channels extra upward force, launching you far higher than any standard jump. A built-in landing protection system also softens your return to earth proportional to how long you held the boost, so the same jump that sends you soaring also cushions your fall.

This guide covers everything you need to know about the Bunny Hoppers, including how to obtain it, its abilities, leveling costs, and configuration options. For information on other items from this mod, visit our Relics Mod Wiki.

Mod Requirements

The Bunny Hoppers requires both the Artifacts mod and the RAR-Compat (Reliquified Artifacts) addon to be installed. The Artifacts mod provides the base item, while RAR-Compat adds the Relic leveling system, abilities, and stats on top of it.

Obtaining

Strengthens the relic bearer’s legs, allowing them to push off the ground more powerfully. This Relic is worn on the Feet.

The Bunny Hoppers can be found in chests within Plains-type and Forest-type biomes. Plains-type biomes include any biome with a name containing words like plain, field, prairie, steppe, meadow, flat, grass, or bush.

Forest-type biomes include those containing forest, wood, timberland, silva, wildwood, garden, or grove. Both spawn entries carry a weight of 300, making this one of the more accessible Relics to find during early exploration.

Relic Quality & Rerolling

Every Relic you find has a quality rating between 0 and 5 stars, shown by the circles beneath its portrait. This rating reflects how good the starting stats rolled when the Relic was generated – higher quality means better initial values.

Each stat on a Relic has a minimum and maximum possible value. When you first obtain a Relic, its stats are randomly rolled within this range. If you’re unhappy with the roll, you can reroll the stats by spending 50 Minecraft Experience. This gives you a chance at better values, though results are still random.

Every time you reroll and a stat doesn’t improve, your Luck percentage increases by one. Higher Luck improves your odds of rolling better stats on future attempts. However, each point of Luck also adds 5 Experience to the reroll cost. At 10% Luck the cost rises to 100 Experience, and at 50% Luck it reaches 300 Experience.

To push stats beyond their maximum base values, you’ll need to spend Upgrade Points earned from leveling the Relic. Rerolling only affects the base stat range – upgrades are applied on top of whatever values you roll.

Usage

The Bunny Hoppers are a pair of animated boots that let you charge up powered jumps by holding the jump key. After you jump, keeping the key held surges you upward with a burst of sparkling white particles, carrying you far higher than a normal jump allows.

At base quality and level 1, a full hold lasts just 0.15 to 0.25 seconds, but this is already enough to noticeably increase jump height. At maximum level 10, the boost window extends to 0.75 seconds, which can launch you roughly 20 blocks into the air.

Wearing Jump Boost potions further extends the duration by 0.2 seconds per level of the effect, stacking on top of the ability’s base window. The same boost that carries you up also softens your landing: for every tick you spent charging, your fall distance is reduced by 1.2 blocks. A full-duration boost at max level can reduce your effective fall distance by up to 18 blocks, eliminating fall damage from the jump almost entirely.

Player wearing the Bunny Hoppers

The Bunny Hoppers pair especially well with the Cloud in a Bottle, which grants extra air jumps you can chain after the initial charged launch for extreme height. For elytra users, getting high off a Bunny Hoppers launch is a fast way to gain the altitude needed to start gliding.

Even at low levels the Bunny Hoppers are worth equipping, since any jump height improvement helps with traversal and avoiding fall damage. As you level the Jumper ability, the boots become increasingly powerful tools for exploring vertical terrain, reaching high structures, and escaping dangerous drops.

Abilities

The Bunny Hoppers has 1 ability: Jumper. With a maximum Relic level of 10, you can earn up to 10 Upgrade Points to spend on this ability.

The Jumper ability is available immediately from the moment you equip the Bunny Hoppers, as it unlocks at Relic level 0. You do not need to level the Relic before you can start benefiting from its jump boost.

Jumper

Jumper ability from the Bunny Hoppers

Allows high jumps by continuously holding the jump key for up to X seconds.

When you jump while wearing the Bunny Hoppers, holding the jump key activates a powerful upward surge. Each tick you hold the key, your vertical speed is pushed to 0.6 blocks per tick, far above the 0.42 of a normal jump peak. The boost continues until you release the key or the ability’s duration runs out, giving you precise control over how high you climb.

A secondary benefit kicks in on landing: the game tracks how many ticks you spent boosting and reduces your fall distance by 1.2 for each one. Boosting for the full 15 ticks at max level cuts your fall distance by 18 blocks, effectively negating all fall damage from any jump you make with the ability. Jump Boost potions also extend the boost window, adding 4 ticks (0.2 seconds) per level of the effect on top of the base duration.

Jumper unlocks at Relic level 0 and costs 1 Upgrade Point per level, with a maximum ability level of 10.

Constellations

Before you can use an ability, it must first be researched. Each ability has a constellation puzzle that you need to solve by connecting stars hidden beneath fog. When the constellation matches the background pattern, the ability unlocks automatically.

Jumper constellation for the Bunny Hoppers

The Bunny Hoppers have one constellation for the Jumper ability, containing 8 stars. The stars form a branching tree pattern: one root star connects to a central hub, which then branches into two pairs of stars on each side. Once you connect all visible stars to match the background pattern, the Jumper ability unlocks and you can begin spending Upgrade Points on it.

Constellation Hints

If you’re stuck on a puzzle, you can purchase hints for 50 Minecraft Experience each. Alternatively, reveal the entire constellation instantly for 400 Minecraft Experience (8 stars at 50 XP each).

Experience Sources

Relic Experience is required to level up a Relic, gain Upgrade Points, and spend those points on upgrading abilities. The Bunny Hoppers offers 1 way to earn Relic Experience.

You earn 1 Relic Experience each time you perform a high jump using the Jumper ability. Since the boost activates automatically whenever you jump and hold the key, gaining experience is a natural part of exploration and traversal. Parkour routes, vertical terrain, and repeatedly jumping over obstacles will all contribute, making this one of the more effortless Relics to level through normal play.

Like all Relics, the Bunny Hoppers benefits from Experience Spreading. Whenever any equipped Relic gains experience, 25% of that amount is shared with all other Relics in your inventory.

Experience Spreading

Experience Spreading is a passive mechanic that helps level up Relics you aren’t actively using. If you gain 100 Relic Experience on one item, every other Relic in your inventory receives 25 bonus experience. This makes it worthwhile to carry multiple Relics even before you can use them all.

Leveling

The Bunny Hoppers has a maximum level of 10, providing 10 Upgrade Points total. Each level requires progressively more Relic Experience, as shown in the table below.

Reaching level 10 requires a total of 5,500 Relic Experience, equivalent to approximately 50 Minecraft player levels worth of raw experience points.

Leveling Strategy

Since every high jump earns 1 Relic Experience, the Bunny Hoppers level up fastest during exploration in areas with varied terrain where you will naturally be jumping often. Parkour-style runs or repeatedly jumping over obstacles accelerate leveling significantly.

Prioritize upgrading the Jumper ability as quickly as possible, since even one level noticeably extends the boost window and lets you reach higher destinations.

Related Relics

The Cloud in a Bottle (Charm slot) is the strongest pairing: after your initial charged launch, you can chain one or more air jumps from the Cloud in a Bottle to extend your maximum reachable height further than either item can achieve alone. The Elytra Booster (Back slot) is another excellent match – the height you gain from a Bunny Hoppers launch gives you plenty of altitude to open your elytra and glide long distances without burning a single Firework Rocket.

If you haven’t found the Bunny Hoppers yet, the Springy Boot (Feet slot) is the closest alternative, offering passive jump height improvements alongside fall damage reduction without requiring you to hold the jump key. The Running Shoes (Feet slot) are a different trade-off in the same slot, giving up vertical reach in exchange for fast horizontal ground movement, which suits players who prefer speed over height.

Config

To edit the configuration for an Artifact-compatible Relic, update the enabledExtendedConfigs: false option within relics.yaml in your Minecraft config folder by changing the value to true.

After relaunching Minecraft, a rarcompat folder will appear in the config directory. Inside, look for and edit bunny_hoppers.yaml.
