Sculk Bone
Sculk Bone is a crafting material added by the Deeper and Darker mod. Dropped by the Shattered mob throughout The Otherside dimension, this resource is essential for crafting both the 
Soul Elytra and 
Sonorous Staff, two of the mod’s most powerful endgame items.
While similar in concept to vanilla Bones, Sculk Bones serve a distinct crafting purpose within the mod’s progression system. The Shattered spawn frequently in the Deeplands and Echoing Forest biomes, making Sculk Bones relatively easy to farm during regular Otherside exploration.
Obtaining
Sculk Bones are obtained primarily from Shattered mob drops in The Otherside dimension. Ancient Temple Chests provide a supplementary source, but killing Shattered remains the most efficient farming method.
Shattered Drops
Shattered mobs drop 1-3 Sculk Bones guaranteed upon death. The Looting enchantment increases this by 0-1 per level, meaning Looting III can yield up to 6 Sculk Bones per kill. Since Shattered spawns frequently throughout The Otherside, they serve as the primary farming target.
Shattered spawn commonly in the Deeplands and Echoing Forest biomes. They behave like zombies; hostile on sight and relatively slow. A Looting III sword maximizes bone yield, and clearing groups during normal exploration quickly stockpiles more than enough for crafting needs.
Ancient Temple Chests
Three chest types in Ancient Temples contain Sculk Bones. Apex chests (top floor) offer 2-6 Sculk Bones with reasonable drop rates. These chests have 5-6 rolls, providing consistent yields alongside other valuable loot like 
Echo Shards and 
Diamonds.
Basement chests contain 2-7 Sculk Bones at moderate rates. With 4-6 rolls per chest, basement exploration provides solid Sculk Bone quantities. Crystallized Amber chests in the Overcast Columns biome can contain a single Sculk Bone at low rates. This source is incidental rather than worth targeting specifically.
Usage
Sculk Bones are used in two crafting recipes, both producing significant endgame equipment. Plan to gather at least 6 Sculk Bones if you want both the Soul Elytra and Sonorous Staff.
Soul Elytra
The Soul Elytra recipe requires 4 Sculk Bones placed in the corner positions. Combined with 4 
Soul Dust in the cardinal positions, 1 
Soul Crystal at the bottom, and a vanilla Elytra in the center, this creates the upgraded flight item with built-in boost ability.
Sonorous Staff
The Sonorous Staff is a powerful ranged weapon that fires sonic blasts like the Warden. It requires 2 Sculk Bones in a diagonal pattern along with 2 Soul Crystals and 1 
Heart of the Deep.

With a Looting III sword, 2 Shattered kills typically provide enough Sculk Bones for a Soul Elytra. The material is abundant enough that stockpiling beyond immediate needs is rarely necessary; you’ll continue finding more during regular Otherside exploration.
Farming Strategy
Sculk Bone farming is passive during normal Otherside exploration. Shattered appear frequently in the Deeplands and Echoing Forest biomes, and killing them as you encounter them naturally accumulates bones without dedicated farming runs.
For targeted farming, the Deeplands biome offers higher Shattered density. They spawn alongside other mobs like Sculk Snappers and Sculk Centipedes, making the area dangerous but rewarding. Equip a Looting III sword before entering The Otherside to maximize drops from every encounter.
Ancient Temple runs also generate Sculk Bones through chest loot. While farming temples primarily for Soul Crystals or 
Sculk Transmitters, the Sculk Bones from apex and basement chests accumulate as a bonus alongside mob drops from Shattered encountered in the structure.
Unlike Soul Crystals which require specific boss kills, Sculk Bones drop from common mobs that spawn everywhere in The Otherside. Focus your farming efforts on Soul Crystals and Heart of the Deep—Sculk Bones will accumulate naturally as you explore and fight through the dimension.
