The Altar of Amethyst is a unique utility block located within the Sunken City structure in L_Ender’s Cataclysm mod. This special block is designed solely to bless Amethyst Crab Meat, turning it into an essential consumable for surviving the Leviathan encounter.

The altar is a critical preparation step for players who plan to challenge this underwater boss.

The Altar of Amethyst converts regular Amethyst Crab Meat into Blessed Amethyst Crab Meat through a straightforward interaction process. To begin, players need to place the raw Amethyst Crab Meat on the altar’s surface.

This marks the beginning of the blessing ritual, which permanently transforms the item into something sacred. The blessed version offers vital immunity effects specifically designed to counter the most dangerous attacks of the Leviathan.

When consumed, Blessed Crab Meat grants the “Blessing of Amethyst” effect for 90 seconds. This powerful buff provides complete immunity to three devastating status effects: Darkness, Abyssal Fear, and Abyssal Burn. These immunities are especially crucial during the Leviathan fight, as the boss frequently inflicts all three debuffs through various attacks, including its dimensional tear ability and abyssal mines.

The Altar of Amethyst can only be found within the Sunken City structure, housed in a dedicated chamber that resembles a Roman-like temple. A Deepling Priest typically guards the altar, and potentially a Coralssus, adding an element of danger to accessing this vital preparation tool.

Unlike most blocks in Minecraft, the Altar of Amethyst is completely uncraftable, making the Sunken City the only source for obtaining this essential item.

Players seeking to use the altar must first locate and obtain Amethyst Crab Meat from the separate Amethyst Crab mini-boss found in Lush Cave biomes. The altar’s positioning within one of the structure’s side chambers means players can access it before engaging the main boss, allowing for proper preparation and strategic planning.
