Netherite Monstrosity

The Netherite Monstrosity is one of the first bosses players might encounter in the L_Ender’s Cataclysm mod, acting as an introductory challenge to the mod’s boss mechanics. This formidable Golem resides within the Soul Forge structure and is inspired by the Redstone Monstrosity from Minecraft Dungeons.

The Monstrosity is a colossal entity composed of Netherite, Lava, Blackstone, Basalt, and Nether Bricks. Its immense presence and molten materials create a formidable adversary, setting the stage for the mod’s challenging boss battles.

The Netherite Monstrosity can be found in the Soul Forge, a structure that randomly appears in various Nether biomes. Players can locate this ancient blacksmith more easily by crafting an Eye of Monstrous. This item works like an Eye of Ender but is fireproof and does not break when used.

The Eye of Monstrous can be crafted by combining an Ender Eye with 2 Netherite Scrap, 4 Lava Buckets, and 2 Blackstone. When released in the Nether, it will guide players towards the nearest Soul Forge before going on a short cooldown.

The Netherite Monstrosity has 600 Health Points and 12 Armor Points, making it a difficult opponent that requires careful preparation and strategy. Its base attack damage deals over 15 HP, which can inflict significant harm on unprepared adventurers.

The boss remains inactive until players come close enough to activate it. Once awakened, the Monstrosity turns aggressive and starts its devastating attack patterns, flooding the arena with dangerous lava and fire-based assaults.

Melee Attacks

There are multiple melee attacks that the Netherite Monstrosity will do. Firstly, when the player is nearby, the Netherite Monstrosity will slam the ground, dealing a high amount of damage.

Sometimes, this attack will cause a shockwave, which will cause blocks to fly in the air, while also sending the player backwards, sometimes into a pool of lava.

If distance is gained between the player and the Netherite Monstrosity, then it will do a charge attack, where it barges through the player, giving them the Bone Fracture debuff. This reduces the player’s movement speed temporarily.

Ranged Attacks

When at a distance, the Netherite Monstrosity will favor more range-based attacks instead. A particularly dangerous ability called Lava Eruption sees the boss spray four Lava Bombs from its mouth in rapid succession. These summon lava on contact with the ground.

The Monstrosity has the ability to place its arms on the ground and concentrate to regenerate health by absorbing nearby lava. This healing mechanism makes it crucial for players to quickly eliminate the lava generated by the boss’s attacks to avoid extended encounters.

The Netherite Monstrosity can also summon flames from the ground, which shoot upwards, and need to be dodged. And from his hand, he’ll shoot fiery projectiles at the player, which should be avoided.

Recommended Equipment

Successfully defeating the Netherite Monstrosity requires thorough preparation because of its fire-based attacks and high damage output. Wearing a complete set of enchanted Netherite Armor offers the essential protection needed to endure the boss’s assaults.

Additionally, using a Shield is extremely valuable for blocking Lava Bombs and other projectiles; however, players should be aware that the takedown attack can temporarily disable shields.

Fire Resistance Potions significantly lower the difficulty of encounters by negating much of the fire damage taken during battles. These potions are especially valuable in the second phase when fire damage is added to all attacks.

Arena Management

The lava-filled environment presents a constant threat during the encounter. Players should consider clearing the lava from pillars and other elevated areas before engaging the boss to create safer positioning options throughout the fight.ght.

The main reward for defeating the Netherite Monstrosity is the Infernal Forge, a unique pickaxe that also serves as a powerful weapon. This tool deals 13 attack damage and does not break, making it highly valuable for both mining and combat.

The Infernal Forge can be upgraded using a Mechanical Fusion Anvil and a Void Core to create the Void Forge, which summons Void Runes in a fan-shaped pattern when used.

The Monstrous Horn is a crafting component used to create the Monstrous Helm, a piece of defensive equipment within the mod. This helmet offers three armor and armor toughness points.

The Monstrous Helm has a unique ability that activates when the wearer’s health falls below half. It repels nearby creatures while enhancing defense, knockback resistance, and regeneration effects, making it especially valuable in challenging encounters.

The Lava Power Cell serves multiple purposes within the mod’s ecosystem. Its primary function involves activating the dormant Netherite Effigy found in the Soul Forge’s secret room.
