Soul Render

The Soul Render is a melee weapon made from Cursium Ingots, which can be obtained by defeating Maledictus in the Frosted Prison dungeon of the Cataclysm mod.

Inspired by Maledictus’s own Phantom Halberd, the Soul Render delivers wide-reaching melee attacks and features powerful area-of-effect abilities. This weapon is notable for being unbreakable and enchantable, making it highly effective and versatile in both PvE and dungeon settings.

Basic Stats and Functionality

Soul Render deals 15 HP of damage with each hit, making it much more powerful than most standard melee weapons. It has an extended reach, allowing players to strike enemies from a greater distance.

This weapon is unbreakable, meaning it does not require any repairs, and it can be enchanted to enhance its performance further. Soul Render is particularly effective in mid-range melee combat and offers abilities for both single-target attacks and crowd control.

Abilities

Soul Render has two distinct special abilities that can be triggered by right-click actions.

Charged Lunge and Halberd Rain

Holding right-click charges up a dash followed by a wide Halberd summon, mimicking Maledictus’s Thousand Pierced Fall. The longer the charge is held, the greater the dash distance and number of summoned Halberds. This makes it ideal for initiating fights or clearing out small groups of enemies.

Radial Summon

While sneaking, right-clicking causes a ring of Halberds to appear in a close radius around the player. This ability offers strong defensive utility and is especially useful when surrounded or defending a choke point.

Both abilities benefit from the weapon’s long reach and are suited for disrupting clusters of mobs, making Soul Render highly effective in dungeon interiors and boss arenas.

Combat Strategy

Soul Render is particularly effective in situations that require good spacing, mobility, and crowd control. Players should utilize the Charged Lunge to initiate engagements or to reach targets that are otherwise out of range. The Halberd Rain ability is great for applying pressure to large groups of enemies or for dealing sustained area-of-effect (AoE) damage during boss fights.

Against single targets, the base damage and extended reach offer a consistent advantage. When overwhelmed, the Radial Summon becomes a reliable way to push back attackers and create breathing room. Pairing Soul Render with defensive armor, such as the Cursium set, enhances survivability while staying in close range.

Enchantments such as Sharpness, Unbreaking, and Sweeping Edge enhance both durability and output. Soul Render also benefits from Knockback and Fire Aspect for additional utility.

Obtaining

The Soul Render can be crafted by combining 3 Cursium Ingots with 2 Black Steel Ingots. Between 3 and 4 Cursium Ingots are obtained each time Maledictus is defeated, and he can be fought multiple times in the same Frosted Prison, making it farmable.

Black Steel is another material obtained within the Frosted Prison. There, it can be dropped by the Draugr, Elite Draugr, Royal Draugr, and the Aptrgangr.
