Cursed Pyramid

Sandstorm in a Bottle

Estimated reading: 3 minutes

The Sandstorm in a Bottle is a useful item in the Cataclysm mod for Minecraft. Players receive it after defeating the Ancient Remnant boss in the Cursed Pyramid. This item provides players with enhanced mobility and crowd control, making it beneficial for both exploration and combat.

Usage

When held, the player can right-click to summon two Sandstorms that orbit around them, dealing damage to any enemies they pass through. Each time it hits a target, it will deal five damage and also inflict the Curse of the Desert debuff, which causes the target’s movement controls to be inverted.

These Sandstorms last a short amount of time before disappearing. Sandstorms will last around ten seconds, whereas the Sandstorm in a Bottle itself has a cooldown of around twenty seconds.

Using the Sandstorm in a Bottle

In previous versions of Cataclysm, the Sandstorm in a Bottle could be equipped in the Belt slot of Curios and activated by pressing X. This would transform the player into a Sandstorm instead and allow them to fly. This feature was removed, with the item being reworked.

Acquisition

The Sandstorm in a Bottle is not craftable and can only be obtained by defeating the Ancient Remnant located at the bottom of the Cursed Pyramid. It is one of several items dropped upon the boss’s defeat, which also includes the Remnant Skull, a Block of Ancient Metal, and potentially a music disc.

As a boss-exclusive drop, the Sandstorm in a Bottle serves as both a reward and a tool for progression, enabling players to approach future encounters with enhanced mobility and tactical flexibility.

Fusion Crafting

The Sandstorm in a Bottle is essential for upgrading two high-tier weapons at the Mechanical Fusion Anvil.

Wrath of the Desert: This weapon is created by combining a Cursed Bow with the Sandstorm in a Bottle. The outcome is a desert-themed ranged weapon with improved properties, designed for rapid skirmishes and mob control. Instead of firing three Phantom Arrows, it will instead fire three Cursed Sandstorms.

Gauntlet of Maelstrom: Players can create the Gauntlet of Maelstrom by combining the Sandstorm in a Bottle with the Gauntlet of Guard. Instead of pulling enemies towards the player, the Gauntlet of Maelstrom will instead summon a Void Vortex, sucking enemies into it, before dealing damage to them.

Mechanical Fusion Anvil Upgrades

These recipes require the Mechanical Fusion Anvil, crafted from Witherite Ingots, Redstone Blocks, and a standard Anvil. Fusion upgrades reflect the endgame nature of the Cataclysm mod, providing players with powerful tools to tackle late-tier challenges.
